Brothers.. I've been really anticipating another video from you guys in the backcountry. I'll be heading out to find some wildlife in a week or so, cannot wait to get out of the city. Look forward to more of your adventures. Take care.
We went to the Rockies a month ago but ran into vehicle problems. Serious engine problems forced us to return home. Perhaps next year with a new vehicle. Take care.
it's like a gilly suit for snipers; the moonlight refracts off the hairs. the bear could be eight feet from you, and you wouldn't see it in the moonlight. a neighbor did just that; the bear was right by a tree and she didn't see it, but but we did. We have a game trail between houses in the Rockies (2nd/3rd houses, so they're often empty) lots of well mannered, Canadian bears. We don't have trash pickup and what few fruit trees we have we strip them so as to not attract bears. but they like the lake, just like we do!!!
Will the loggers harm the grizzlies? Thank you for sharing your journeys with all of us. You live in a very beautiful part of the world. I’m from Colorado, also very beautiful. You should visit if you haven’t....many beautiful animals.
Thanks Shanon, Some loggers do harm Grizzlies so we were hoping the Grizzlies would not encounter any loggers. We muted some colorful language from the video expressing our concerns about the Grizzlies running across loggers. I plan on visiting Colorado, possibly this year. I was thinking about heading to Mountain View and Telluride for some high elevation hiking and camping. Colorado is a beautiful State.
Colorado has NO GRIZZLIES though so that really take away the "magic" from that part of the Rockies. Theres nothing like being in Alberta or BC rocky mountains and knowing the world's largest most dangerous carnivore is somewhere in these exact same trails as you.
Loggers are busy logging. the noise would usually drive them away, and fallers on the coast don't pack heat like in the USA. the discharge of firearms is extremely frowned upon in Canada. We do have some poaching, licensed game hunters doing illegal hunting, and some native hunting and "animal worship" hunts, but it's not common.
Gorgeous grizzly cubs I agree are probably just setting out on their own. Although, I shouldn't be watching since I will be in a tent in Yellowstone again next week and it may be a tad difficult to sleep. :) Pretty country!
Do you support or advise not to hike national parks with kids? I am curious. I like hiking with my kids but we just do small intown stuff. Never ventured to deep out there.
We have a telescopic zoom on the old Sony camcorder, so we were not as close as it appears. The video was shot years ago, but we were probably 200 plus feet from the black bear.
@@gabe-po9yi the entire Columbia valley area is a bear mix territory, though grizzly are usually in the higher elevations. I'm in Windermere at the lake, and the black bears are all on the east side and the grizz are all on the forested and ranch land on the west side, and up the mountain to Panorama. Lots of goats, sheep, mule deer, elk, yummy.
Yeah, you're probably right. They look like they are at the age where they can start fending for themselves. I love watching wildlife, thanks for watching.
Not super scary, but when the Grizzlies turned around and start heading towards us. We were a few hundred feet from our Jeep at that time. I believe I said, " I think we should go inside our Jeep". They didn't look aggressive and they were still hundreds of feet away when they started to approach us, so again not super scary but time to head back to the Jeep. Have a good one Joseph.
I will say you do have your head screwed on right and your shit is tight. I know my friends laughed at me also. I would tell them to bite me lol did enjoy the video
Don't always assume a bear has been shot if it's not with "grown" cubs. Many times it is a mature male bear that kills the mother or her cubs. I used to hunt up that road on foot. Glad never saw them
When you're a few hundred meters from your vehicle and you see 2 grizzlies come around the corner it can be somewhat concerning. Maybe you do not know but grizzlies can run incredibly fast. It is easy to say " why was it scary" sitting on a chair in your home. This summer I saw a group of hikers spot a black bear, they didn't stop shouting for 15 minutes even when the bear was long gone. I notice people's actions, not words.
Apology accepted. I use to carry bear spray 35 years ago when it was uncool to carry bear spray and people would laugh and make jokes when they saw us carry bear spray. I would always say it doesn't mean I'm afraid of bears but it was a smart move like wearing a seat belt doesn't mean one is scared to drive.
Two type of bears in one area and that black bear was so chill with Grizzlies roaming around 😶😶. Don't Grizzlies eat them and that black bear was full of fat too. Great video by the way.
Lots of grizzlies and black bears in the Golden BC area. This video was shot on a forest service road near Golden. Grizzlies definitely do not tolerate black bears in their territory, and black bears do their best to try to avoid any grizzlies in the area. I once saw a grizzly chase a black bear up a tree, a very cool sight. Take care.
Because it was hunting season and we ran across a lot of hunters looking for grizzlies. We also ran across loggers who said they shoot any bears entering camp. In that context, it is probable that someone shot the mother, but we did not actually witness the mother being shot.
@@bohrerbros7555 Loggers should keep their camp clean, and their bullshit down to a minimum. Windfall, Alberta, 1963. We lost one surveyor near Bella Coola to a black bear. He was eating and dropping food behind him and the bear came up behind, took the backT of his head off. Found him the next a.m. Good practices but we deal with a lot of asshats and idiots in the woods. Glad we don't have those same clowns packing big heat like down south. They'd be more likely to kill someone unloading in the camp, or the bunkhouse.

Sorry I can tell the difference in a second, these are grizzly bears around 2 years old. The face is broad and somewhat concave vs the roman nose of a black bear. These bears do display prominent humps above the shoulders. I have a visual right hemisphere mind and I can tell in a split second that these are grizzly bears, not even close to a black bear. Unless you are referring to the black bear near the end of the video, there are 2 grizzlies at the beginning of the video.
From google - "The grizzly bear has a pronounced shoulder hump, which the black bear lacks. Grizzlies have a concave or “dished” facial profile, smaller ears and much larger claws than the black bear. Black bears have a flatter, “Roman-nose” profile, larger ears, no visible shoulder hump and smaller claws". VERY OBVIOUS if you have experience that the two bears near the beginning of the video are grizzlies, not even close to a black bear

It's a black bear mate
Long snout, sloped forehead, pointed ears, no hump = black bear
