    My routine involves me obsessing over my decks and doing everything with them by my side for a few months and then forgetting they exist for a few weeks lol. I wonder if my decks think i am a creep because i fondle them through out the day for no reason 😅

    Thank you for being so candid. I have been looking for other readers who share the inner process of using spreads and care meanings. Including your questions like: "How can I be a better me, today" was particularly insightful. This is how I use cards, as well.

    Right now, I have some tarot cards on my nightstand to help with my manifestations. I usually pull a couple of cards from my tarot and oracle deck. I will write them in my journal. I don’t have a set time.

    Thank you Dawn Michelle! When I do a reading for myself I basically do the 3 card spread and and that’s what I always ask “what can I do to be a better person” or what can I learn to help me on my journey with life in general! I love your three card spread with the oracle I’m gonna incorporate that! And yes coffee and Tarot! ☕️

    Hi Dawn Michelle!
    I love tarot and oracle cards and have collected them the last 3 years. To be honest I am first now really beginning to use them in spreads. A couple of month’s ago I bought your studybook and I love it. So I now try to get to know every single card. Often I still just sit with the 78 cards and go through them - sometimes there is one right popping up and gives me some message.
    I love your morning routine and have to say I like it and it speaks to me, so I will give it a try and see how I like it.By the way it is so nice to see you, it feels like beeing at a friends for a cup of tea and just speaking about what we love and our experiences - please continue with that.
    Your videos are so full of knowledge and information and I am using them like a sort of library to go back to. The videos where you show how you do your journaling are real goodies. This video was an eyeopener for me - because you showed practice. That is super !!!
    One thing I really learned in your videos is, that MY way to work with the cards I have to find out and decide and YOUR way is yours. Nothing is wrong about that, nothing can be done wrong or can not be done, as long as I like it and feel comfortable with it. I always had the feeling my reading practice will first be right when I do it like xy or .. So thankfull that you encourage us, to find our own usefull way - no mather what we like, as long it is our way.
    I have really got a new sight of seeing the use of tarot and oracle cards. I felt so bad when I bought my first decks aand couldn’t bond with them. Just had to trim them and edge them. But felt so ashamed because I was ruining the cards (after many others meaning), so I never told one.
    After I found your account I feel reliefed, that there is someone who although trim, edge, cut, paint the cards. Now I love my cards and I connect with them on a deeper and so comforting way. Because nothing is wrong with that, becaus I paid for the cards and I can do with them what I want.
    Thank you so much for great videos, showing your own routines, letting us follow into your tarot and oracle world. Sharing your great wisdom and methods. Thank you for that !
    Many greetings from Denmark and hopeing you are doing well. Love Nicole

      I am so glad that you are enjoying my videos! I think being able to create a tarot practice that is uniquely yours is a wonderful part of the journey. I am always learning from other people as well, picking up tips and ideas and I use what works for me and set aside what doesn't. Modifying decks is a big part of my practice, it helps me my tools (my cards) feel very personal. I am so glad you didn't let others deter you from keeping up with your mods. They are your decks and you should feel free to do with them as you please. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

      Oh I am so glad to hear that! It has been very hard for me to stick to routine these days as well, trying to find time for even the most important parts of my practice can be a challenge. Thank you so much, Dawn Michelle. I just 'found' your channel. Loved this video on Tarot practice. I've been wanting a discussion like this. * I do have a morning practice, and interestingly, it is quite similar to yours. Your video has provided a bit of structure for me to comtemplate. Actually, and more importantly, I found that the video validated what I presently do in the mornings. From the laying out of the cloth, and the lighting of the candle, to quietly holding the deck in my hands. I usually lay out 3 cards. I journal too, but it is usually on bits of paper that end up tossed away. Love your journalling ideas, and ... oh, the Notebook! Love it! * I really really like the Energetic Reading layout and explanation, and also the Waterfall Reading. Thank you so much for this video!!

    Thanks for sharing, I feel my routine with tarot has evolved with me throughout the years and now I have a system that works well... but looking back, I can see how my tarot practice was a direct result of how I chose to connect with my decks every day! My brain works better at night and this is when I consult tarot for shadow work or for deeper insights. In the morning, my tarot spreads are aimed at practical things and how to get things done. I may start my day asking the tarot how to go about certain projects and finish the day asking stuff like: "Why am I feeling such and such in this situation?" ;-)

    I have finally found a way to start, using both tarot and oracle. In trying to discover a deck to learn with, i also learned I didn't mind buying beautifully artistic decks. So after a year of searching, I think I have a respectsble amount to learn and alternate, some are seasonal. But your two card spread, in a place where I won't be disparaged from a narcissitic d/v ex i was hoping next month, but it may be march OR april. I won't last that long in the same house, i will need to make alternate plans til my place will be ready. I look forward to a peaceful, UNDISTURBED routine, it's beyond his level of constraint until I was finished. It's been a long 37 years

    I have been enjoying for quite a while now..The Tarot Girl's weekly readings..which I then place the appropriate cards on my desk and switch them to the next card during the week. I then pull an oracle card to help with the vibe of the message I've received so far. I like the way it speaks to me while I'm planning in my diary or generally doing other tasks. Its place and prominence in my room shows my respect for my practice and how I feel about myself...it can also reflect the other side of my moods...lack of tidying my space etc. Its very much an important aspect of me...I don't know who I would be without Tarot.

    I’m an organic Tarot and Oracle reader but am most at home with Tarot. I don’t use spreads but I try to learn new ones or revisit them when I have time just to keep growing and learning. I read in the mornings and whenever I can during the day to ground myself. In the mornings, I usually ask what are my dreams trying to tell me (I have very vivid dreams) OR I’ll ask what messages are there for me for a better me, day, that leads for a better tomorrow. During the day, I’ll stop just because I need to or I’ll shuffle as I’m studying/working at home. Shuffling my cards are therapeutic. I may just allow a card to jump out in which I’ll take the time to study it before I return to that go-go-go mentality. At times, when I’m feeling stuck or unfocused on a material/project, I’ll ask for guidance as I shuffle. I read in 3s or 4s. Sometimes I’ll add a bottom row to confirm or to help guide me on how to obtain or release what was on the top row. Again, thank you for sharing.

    Thank you for sharing this. I need to expand on my daily schedule and I feel this would help. I do the same thing with writing my thoughts down before putting them into my journal. I call it my brain dump. It can be just some simple words, feelings, and emotions surrounded around my reading. Then I take all of the brain dump things and write them in a cohesive journal entry. If I like the brain dump I will just tip it in into my journal with washi tape.

    I was doing a daily three card spread with tarot only in the mornings. But like everyone, my routine has been disrupted. And I have a few mornings each week that are very rushed. Monday’s are my weekend, so Monday morning I do a 6 card weekly spread, and I’m testing out doing the three card pulls for each day of that week. Then I’m recording my thoughts each morning. It isn’t my favorite since it is cutting out a lot of what makes me feel grounded - the ritual of setting the space and shuffling. But with the spouse underfoot I’m not finding it easy to do my full ritual in our tiny apartment.

    I've heard some people say that for some people its better to read in the evening, about how was today's energy. Because if you get negative card in the morning, you might create a bad day for yourself because of the card.
    And I'm someone who'd definitely overthinking that and create a bad situation out of this. I'm only staring now so I'm still learning a lot, but sometimes I read in the morning too. I just asked about the days energy or simmilar things like that.
    But I like what you said about that if you get tower in the morning, you can change the day, just keep in mind that card.

      I think both have their merits and it's just comes down to what resonates with the individual. I pull cards all throughout the day sometimes, it's not always for predicting the outcome of the day but also for connecting with various aspects of my practice. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️

    In the waterfall reading, do you leave those cards out? Do you reshuffle each day? In other words, can you get the same card on Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday?

    • @DawnMichelleTarot

      Because my reading and crafting table are the same, I can't actually leave my cards out. But I do re-lay them down in their original positions before I add more cards to the reading. This was so interesting! Thank you for sharing your personal practice. I, like you, start my day with the cards..... I have tea not coffee though!!!!
    I am a Sanguine temperament so my practice changes as my little sanguine brain moves on to the next shiny object!!!!! I usually ask a question like how can I grow today? Or what do I need to know about today? Or what lesson do I need to learn today..... I started my daily tarot practice many years ago with a five card spread.... starting in the east with a card to reflect/represent the intellectual realm, moving into the south to reflect passion, creativity, and drive, then into the west for emotions, relationships, and issues of the heart, up to the north for everyday practical issues and then into the center to reflect spiritual issues. That reading began to be too lengthy and involved so I now usually do that once a month. I usually combine tarot and oracle..... I have a lot of decks and I like to use as many as possible...... sometimes I'll use the same deck(s) for a week or more and sometimes like now, I'll change it up daily. I've recently been doing a daily reading for the Tarot Community on how we can stay safe, calm. and positive in the midst of the pandemic....... I often wonder what Id do without my tarot practice!!! Especially during challenging times. I find such comfort and inspiration from my daily tarot practice...... and sometimes the cards really like to kick my butt and that's ok, too!!!!

    This is SUPER interesting to me. I keep thinking that maybe if I get a tarot table it'll get me doing tarot more, but I'm not sure if that's actually true. I really want to get tarot into my day, but it just doesn't happen naturally, as much as I adore tarot reading. And I have a similar approach to you, I think, at least in your morning readings--a lot of tarot for me is just about cultivating attention and thinking of things in a new way. So hearing some of your rituals is helpful inspiration, looking forward to the next :-)
    One of my goals is actually to *not* write everything down, so that reading feels less burdensome, but I like the setup with the coffee (or for me, tea!) and sitting with the cards, and the two-card daily could work well for my mornings. I've been wanting to pair tarot/oracle more. The waterfall is also fab! Do you just leave those cards out on your table, or do you put them back on Wednesday and Friday? (Sorry if you said this, I have auditory processing disorder and attention issues so it's reaallly hard for me to listen for a specific detail!)

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am so glad you found this helpful! I don't always write down my readings (which I talk about more in part two) because sometimes I just need that momentary message. Because my reading table is also my craft table, I don't leave cards out (that's why I always put a picture of them in my journal, so I can go back to the cards without always having to get them back out. But for the waterfall reading, I put the cards back on the top of the deck and put them away until the next reading. Then I get them back back out, lay them down and then continue the reading as usual. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

    Thanks for your video, really helpful. I was wondering, how would you recommend one go about learning the tarot? I've tried for years, but haven't found a great method that sticks. Thanks!

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion, the best way to learn is actually by doing. I recommend getting yourself a good book (I recommend Tarot Wisdom by Rachel Pollack) and a deck of cards you enjoy and then start with a single card draw every day. Look up in the meaning in the guidebook (nothing wrong with this, I still do it all the time!) And/or from your reference book and note it down in a journal. Then add your own thoughts about the card, what you see, what you feel ect. When you feel comfortable start with simple (I say simple, but I really think they are some of the most profound) three card reading. I think sometimes people get caught up in trying to study or learn the cards and the best way to learn tarot is to actually use the cards. At first you'll probably rely mostly on the book, and that's ok, we all do at first. But gradually you'll start to make your own associations to the cards. When you start building that personal connection, that's when you'll find yourself reaching for your study materials less and less. Although like I said, when I'm working with a new deck, I always use the guidebook with the first few readings. I like to know what the creator had in mind before I add my own twist to it. Also watching videos, seeing how other people interpret the cards can be helpful as well. I do hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

I have many books, but don't have that one by Rachel (I was lucky enough around 20 years ago to take a day class with her). • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do them more freeformed but you could certainly assign positions to them. I generally go in with a basic question, usually something along the lines of "what do I need to know to support my week" or "what do I need to be aware of right now" and then I lay the cards freeform style and just let the messages roll from there. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

    Hi Dawn. I have 2 questions :) : do you read tarot card réversal ? And do you always take the card from above (or sometimes randomly in the middle)? Thank you :) (I looooooooove your vidéos so much, and bought your last ebook which is amazing!!)

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much for your support and I'm so glad you enjoy my work! I used to read reversals for many years but I've stopped in the last few because I find that whether a card is in "shadow" or opposite meaning depends more on the context of the reading and position of the card rather than which way it's facing. So even a card that is right side up can have a shadow or "reversed" meaning depending on what's going on around it and where it falls in my spread. My go-to draw is usually to split the deck and pull the top card at the split. But sometimes I pulls card from the top, a card from the middle and a card from the bottom. It's more of an intuitive thing and kinda based on the reading I'm doing. For example if I want to know what's going on underneath something, I might pull the top card from the deck and the very bottom card to see what lies beneath. I hope that helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

    • @DawnMichelleTarot
      @DawnMichelleTarot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this verison that is correct. It's essentially one reading that gets stretched over several days, that way you can really take your time with each line. It helps me to digest a larger reading and really slow down and pay attention to the details. Although alternatively you could use three different decks which would be really cool too because then you might get repeating cards and that would be some powerful energy as well.
