Hi 👋 oh yes us locals are familiar with Fort Hood. You'll be close to Austin & SA for all the fun & culture. Thanks for watching & thanks for your service!
San Antonio has always been the biggest city nobody knew about and I loved it. I wanted it peaceful but I noticed people has found us and the city is expanding. Most people didn't realize that other missions with its own history existed along the SA river and a $4.00 all day bus pass save visitors from carrying change or driving around the city plus a special city buse that take visitor to other Missions for a few bucks. As for the weather it's not always as hot as coastal cities unless South winds pushes north to San Antonio from the coast. Anyway we have a giant 2 part water park a few short mile's North of SA in New Braunfels Texas. A giant beautiful Brackenridge park, tall trees and the same with a free public pool in San Pedro park to cool off. You can picnic and be shaded by tall trees around both parks. I can go and on but that's plenty.
Hi 👋 thanks for adding the great recommendations. I love all the palm trees too at San Pedro Park. So pretty there. Thanks so much for visiting my channel!
I cannot agree more! Born and raised in SA, it was a beautiful gem of a city " under the radar " growing up but the word is out now. lol. You'd be surprise. SA has a bit of everything. Unlike Dallas and Houston which are flat, ..SA and Austin are scenic due to being in the Hill Country and we have the Mega Mansions and Historical Story book neighborhoods: Alamo Heights, Olmos, Terrill Hills, Monte Vista , King Williams, it really is an All American city. I use to hate SA when I was young, I wanted to be in a bigger and, 'more exciting city, ". so I left and I did. Coming back, I totally become thankful and appreciative of such a wonderful city with Southern Texas hospitality, I can travel anywhere to have a great time on vacation but still come home to my San Antonio. People here are genuinely nice to you and care. In California, I was indivisible and nobody cares about you. Family and love ones count in life , everything is just insignificant stuff we leave. I know I'm going off " the rails " but you get my drift. lol. I learned to appreciate and finally SEE the beautiful of San Antonio.

I've set foot on 4 Continents and San Antonio is by far one of my favorite cities. La Cantera mall is so beautiful especially at Christmas. The Botanical Garden is also incredible. Beautiful vlog and noted spots I didn't know about which I'll will definitely check out during my trip next Spring 😁
Hi Jennifer 👋 happy to hear that. I live just a few minutes from La cantera & I'm probably there more then I should be 😆 thanks for visiting my channel
@@PriscillaGutierrez Oh I am so envious, I used to live down in Alamo Ranch a couple of years ago, but missed my family and moved back home to San Diego right before the Pandemic lockdown. I miss SA dearly, she is a huge part of my soul ❤. I loved stopping by the Kendra Scott store in La Cantera, unique jewelry. The Culinaria 5K is coming up at La Cantera and oh my gosh, that is one of my favorite Fall/Halloween 5Ks. They do all kinds of vendors and alcohol treats after, but it was always too early for me to enjoy drinking, I just enjoyed the atmosphere, so much fun! Hi 👋 So glad my videos are helpful. That's a great compliment. San Antonio is a beautiful romantic city so I know yall will have the best time on your anniversary trip. I can recommend the love lock bridge on the Riverwalk & also Mon Chou Chou at the Pearl followed by drinks at hotel Emma! Or for a completely local spot Aldinos is our fav restaurant! Thanks for visiting my channel :)
One little correction Priscilla, the Shops at La Cantera first opened up in 2005 (first part of it), so it's been 15 years now lol. I actually remember when ALL of La Cantera was first being built because my Junior Prom was in that area in 1999 and my family accidentally went on the La Cantera road when trying to get the Fiesta Texas lol. One of the nicest things about the Japanese Tea Gardens is that it's Free to go to also, so I think if you're on a budget and want to experience something with natural beauty, yeah the Japanese Tea Gardens is a good place to go. I've rarely been to the Pearl due to how much it costs. First time I went was for Fiesta in 2019 because I was in one of the Courts one year and got to be in the Flambeau parade, which was meeting at the Pearl. Parking was an adventure in itself lol. Had a lot of fun for sure. Thanks for mentioning Casa Rio's because for me that is the go-to place for Tex-Mex downtown (my mom and I tried Mi Tierra's we thought they were 'meh' at best honestly). As far as other local restaurants, my fav place to eat is a Chinese place that's not far from the Pearl (it's on Broadway), it's called Hung Fong and it is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Texas. Still owned by the same family too, it was opened up in 1939. Family has been going there for generations. I also recommend Big Lou's Pizza on the SE side of town, BUT ONLY if you have the time for they make your order FRESH! Like it can take a couple hours depending on how much you order (and how big of a pizza you get). Place got featured on both Food Network AND Travel Channel at some point. But yeah it IS family owned. One place in SA I think is worth going to if you have someone with special needs is Morgan's Wonderland which is in the north central part of town. It's the only amusement park of it's kind in the whole world that caters to those with Special Needs (both physical and developmental). And entire party can get in for free if just one person has a Special Need (like my family has always been able to get in free since I have Autism). I do think a must do for those with kids is also the local Children's Museum (it's called the Do-Museum), it's close to the Witte Museum since it's part of the "Museum Reach" of SA. Also a huge lover of art, I also recommend the San Antonio Museum of Art that's downtown near Broadway. I definitely recommend the Institue of Texan Cultures that's downtown too if you want to know about Texas history. Speaking of this Institute, they have 2 amazing festivals that happen on the grounds. One is the Asian Festival and the other is the Texas Folklife Festival. Another huge SA event is our Livestock Show and Rodeo that happens in February at the AT&T Center and Freeman Coliseum. So much to do there. Hey Priscilla, ever visited the Riverwalk close to St. Patrick's Day? They dye the river green for the event. I never been there on the exact holiday, but I have seen the river when it was green. So very cool to see.
Hi there! Thanks so much for all the additional recommendations. There's still so much I didn't get to talk about. I'm thinking about doing a part 2 😊 Glad we are both Casa Rio fans! Oh and we have something in common. I was once on the fissta court too. A total experience right?!💗 Yes I've been to the St.Patricks festival about 7 or 8 times. Love seeing the river dyed. I used to sing & do shows at the Arneson River Theater so I've seen it from the stage! So fun. Thanks for visiting my channel.
Wow you hit everything right on about San Antonio and added more information for visitors..Good job. Thanks from a livelong SA and Texas. BTW ive lived in Dallas and Houston and always came back. Nice to visit but....

Thank you for this video, we visited last March we were there for a week and we did so much, but it seems like we missed a lot. Lol. I guess it's okay since we visited to see if it will be a place to consider for our move. Mostly like we will be moving I'm so nervous because we will be coming from San Diego, it's so beautiful but time for a change just not sure if I'm ready for it.
Hi there! So glad you enjoyed the video. I've been to San Diego once for a week. Such a beautiful place! Yes I can imagine any big move would make me nervous too. SA is a beautiful city though & cost of living is great. If you end up moving here just be aware of the Texas heat. The summer is no joke & of course we don't have PB but we do have the coast just 2 hours away in Corpus christi. I have lots of videos on day trips & our Texas beaches in my Texas travels playlist. Good luck with the possible move & thanks for visiting my channel!
Awesome, great video. Thanks. My 3 girlfriends and I will be coming to your lovely city end of April next year. This was incredibly helpful 👍 subscribing.
New braunfels is only 30 minutes away to float the Guadalupe river and cascades caverns and wildlife ranch is on the way. Best place to stay are the domes outside of wimberley hill country. Private romantic getaway at disco ranch. Its listed on airbnb. Absolutely gorgeous
Pro tip: I know you were in an echoey room, but there are certain mics and audio setups which work better in such rooms. In general audio is the most important element of video making. There are many videos on TH-cam which explain this far better than I ever could. Whether making movies and making vlogs or a video/audio podcast... spend well on audio equipment and you will be rewarded for your investment. An appropriate microphone and a decent amplifier or mixer from a company called Sound Devices (such as an MM-1, or perhaps the Mix-Pre III if you want to pay more) will give you more volume and richness to your vocals without adding a noticeable amount of echo/hiss. Audio equipment is expensive, but you get back what you invest in tools and effort. Best of luck with your channel.
Omg im totally going to do everything you just mentioned. Going during 4th of July weekend would love to know more what to do for a family of 5 being Its going to be our first time there. Love the content 👌
Hi there! So glad you enjoyed the video. During 4th of July we usually go to Woodlawn lake park. There's a big festival there with a firework show put on by the SA Parks Foundation. Parking is challenging. Most locals will set up a tent and chairs and hang out for the day there but you could also just go in the late afternoon/evening to watch the firework show. It's our cities official 4th event. I hope you and the fam have a great trip here & thanks for visiting my channel! P.s. july is hot so if you do a lot of outdoor activities bring water and sunblock!
Thank you for touching on at least one of the other missions .... we have more than the Alamo and the alamo is too much of a tourist trap. Wish you would have brought up concepcion.
Hello! Yes I love our Missions including Mission Concepcion. Thanks for adding it to the comments. Great recommendation! & thanks for visiting my channel.
Hi 👋 So the taco photo is at a restaurant that closed down in south town unfortunately. They have a taco wall at Texas Selfie Museum I believe but it's an indoor place. Enjoy your time in San Antonio!
I actually just got back from New Orleans for the first time & the French quarter & dt area reminder me of dt San Antonio & certain spots at Market Square

@@PriscillaGutierrez I retired from teaching in PA in 1999, bought a 33 foot class A motorhome, and travelled full time for 12 years. Several times I stayed at Thousand Trails Resort by Medina Lake in Lakehills, TX, just 20 miles from the San Antonio beltway. Yet, sadly, I have never visited inside that beltway. Now at age 76 I am moving to Shertz, TX, to be close to my son and grandson. I WILL get my son to take me to see all 17 of your favorite places. I do wonder how many people noticed how many different pretty dresses you modelled during that video.
Hi 👋 In my opinion both cities are safe for solo travelers. Both are big cities though so just like any other big city there are definitely parts too avoid. I would say just do your research on that. Enjoy Your travels to Texas! I have a lot of san antonio and a couple of dallas vlogs on my channel from over the years
We are two healthy retirees planning to take a trip via Amtrak around last two weeks of November from phenix to Louisiana. San Antonio will be our 1st stop. It would be ideal not to rent a car for this entire train ride trip. If we stay in San Antonio for a few days and visit some must visit popular tourist spots, which part of this city would be ideal for us to stay at? We are Best Western hotel level or three stars travellers. Any suggestion on taking public transportation to go around San Antonio would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!!
Hi 👋 that sounds amazing! I suggest staying on the Riverwalk downtown. You'll be within walking distance of several touristy things to do ie the Alamo, Riverwalk. You could do a hop on off bus which starts at Alamo Plaza and will take you by more of the sites. Not sure if there's a best Western in that general area. Thanks for visiting my channel!
Hello, just came across your video and my son will be graduating as well from the AF BT and was wondering if are there any hotels that you would recommend in San Antonio. We are from Evans GA. Thank you
Hi ! First off appreciate your family's service. Lackland is SW San Antonio not really by anythung , If you want to be downtown you can stay on the Riverwalk (about 20 mins from Lackland, or you could stay in the sea world area (about 15 mins). Enjoy your travels here !
Nice video..,sis may i ask how far the san antonio international airport from JBSA lackland airforce base I'm planning to visit there.., what the best car rental deals budget in san antonio and how far the riverwalks from the airport thanks sis
Hi 👋 About 25 minutes away from Lackland. The Riverwalk is about 20 mins from airport without traffic. I'm not too sure about car rentals here. I've only ever rented from avis/enterprise for road trips. You could just rent from the airport and drive around everywhere. When you go dt. Park at river center mall parking garage. Walk out through the food court and you'll be on the Riverwalk. Have a good trip here and thanks for visiting the channel.
Thanks for the vlog. I'm traveling to San Antonio next week and this was very helpful. Watch my vlogs and let me know what you think. I will be uploading my San Antonio Vlog the end of next week.
So I’m planning a trip with my wife this year 2023 during the week of Fiesta (April 19-25th). My main worry is it will be too crowded and we won’t be able to enjoy some of the tourist spots because of the crowds. What do you think?
Hi 👋 Welcome to the channel. Fiesta is very busy, mostly downtown. I would say if you plan to go dt take a cab/uber. Downtown parking will be expensive and hard to find. You can definitely still enjoy the spots if you don't mind the extra festivities & crowds. Fiesta is awesome and so much fun. Are you coming specifically to experience Fiesta? If so Viva Fiesta! If not definitely book your hotel & make your restaurant reservations as soon as possible. You can check the official Fiesta commissions website for events in case there's one you want to go to. Market square has a Fiesta event everyday there during fiesta so it will be packed. I would say go to the Alamo early in morning during week. On Friday of Fiesta all schools and lots of people are off from work to attend the parades that day. But there's still plenty to see and do in SA not near Fiesta stuff.
@@PriscillaGutierrez We are going for our anniversary and it just happens to fall on that week. But since we're there we might as well enjoy Fiesta. We'll be there from a Wednesday to Tuesday so hopefully some of the weekdays aren't as busy as the weekend. We want to see the Alamo, some of the other missions, the Mexican market, and maybe make a over night trip Fredericksbeurg or New Braunfels/Lockhart, try some Texas BBQ and visit a state park. We won't be spending all of our days in Downtown San Antonio. And I hope to explore some of the neighborhoods and photograph some murals and visit some little neighborhood taqueiras/burger joints/bakeries that aren't necessarily in downtown. Thanks for your response and great video.
@@bradlenseigne4086 FYI, Fiesta has 3 major parades during this time that does affect traffic in the Downtown area. Only one of them will happen during your stay and it's the River Parade on April 24th. I would avoid driving downtown for it'll be a madhouse that day for the parades get the biggest crowds. FYI, if you're a Military vet (or currently serving), a LOT of places have Military discounts. Hope you have an amazing time here though.
@@PriscillaGutierrez I keep thinking the roads will be packed because everyone is traveling for Thanksgiving but hopefully like you said they are at home
I heard the same praise about austin and how its awesome and magnificent, but once I got there it was a nightmare of a city not to mention the horrors of walking or taking the bus where your life is literally threatened and that's the issue with american cities , hopefully SA is less horrible
So sorry you had a bad experience in Austin. I go there frequently to explore or for work sometimes but I've never lived there or taken the public transit. Happy holidays
Hi 👋 lots of options. Several of the things I mentioned are downtown so you could just uber downtown & walk. For example you could start at the Riverwalk and walk to the Alamo. There's also a hop on & off bus at Alamo Plaza that probably stops at several of these spots. Def uber to the Pearl. Hope you enjoy your work trip here!
Hi Abigail! There's so many parking lots and garages near the Riverwalk. If you want something easy to remember park at Rivercenter mall. That's the mall attached to a section of the Riverwalk. Sometimes I also park at Casa Rio restaurant parking lot. It's small and sometimes gets full but I like to eat at Casa Rio on the Riverwalk. Hope that helps. Thanks for visiting my channel

Hi there! In general San Antonio is pretty safe IMO. Just like any city there's a few areas here and there to look out for but to me they aren't near touristy things. If you are a tourist visiting I'd recommend staying on the Riverwalk or by Fiesta Texas in Northwest SA. Thanks for visiting my channel.
@@PriscillaGutierrez What areas would you recommend as being the safest for someone to "live" there? North, East, South or West......for a female......?
I've always lived North/Northwest and I love those areas. Before I was married I lived alone for 5 years near UTSA and always felt safe. Of course just do your research. Good luck to you !
Hi 👋 Spring is not too hot but the weather can be different from day to day. July and August are the busiest with tourists and we do have extreme Texas heat then. I'd say late spring early summer, but special times to visit would be in April for Fiesta San Antonio and during the holidays the city is Extra beautiful 😍
Hi 👋 we don't frequent the bar scene as much but dropping my favs from over the years. For live music 502 & Picks bar. On the Riverwalk Mad dogs & waxys are festive. My personal favs for views more upscale vibe Moons Daughter & Paramour. Esquire in the downtown area always has great cocktails. For more casual the Friendly Spot (outdoor) and we have several Little Woodrows locations in SA too. The Southtown area of San Antonio has a lot of bars within walking distance of each other.

Thank you so much for this video! It's super important to hear from a local and I really appreciate all your wonderful suggestions. Thank you for the video! I just visited Houston and San Antonio will be next!!
Hi 👋 So glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you enjoy your time here in SA :)
Good stuff. I ve been living in San Antonio since 2011. Subscribed.

Thanks for the tip! Yes I've been going back and forth for years trying to decide if I want one or not. Thanks for stopping by my channel

Hi 👋 and thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed the video
@@edwardrichmond1765 I do like dresses! That's so great to move closer to family. Shertz is such a nice area. Thanks again for visiting my channel :)
Thank you for this. I’m visiting Dallas in September & will also visit San Antonio. I’m a solo female traveller, are both places pretty safe?
Loved the video!
Hi ! So glad you did. Thanks for visiting my channel 😊
Good review 👍🏽
Hey there! Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
Hello, just came across your video and my son will be graduating as well from the AF BT and was wondering if are there any hotels that you would recommend in San Antonio.
Just moved here and it seems like there is definetly a lot to do!
Hi 👋 yes there really is! Both in San Antonio and in the general area. Welcome to the Alamo City!
@@PriscillaGutierrez thank you!
Do they have Krabby Land?
Would be really grateful if you could give some information on the Best State Parks near to San Antonio for a Day picnic
Such a great idea! I've been to a few.
Awe!! you are adorable!!!
Hi 👋 thank you for the nice compliment
Have a good trip here and thanks for visiting the channel.
this was probably the best video ive seen on what to do in san Antonio
Really appreciate that! Glad you found it helpful 😊
Nice ❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
Thanks for the vlog. I'm traveling to San Antonio next week and this was very helpful. Watch my vlogs and let me know what you think. I will be uploading my San Antonio Vlog the end of next week.
Hi 👋 So glad you enjoyed it. For sure I'll check it out. Safe travels ☺️
I am coming to SA in the next 3 weeks.I hope my dream will come true.I will give you a feedback than.
Safe travels !
Yes please more murals
Hi 👋 Yes I think I'll work on that for a future video. Thanks for the feedback & for visiting my channel!
I'm leaving ND for San Antonio tomorrow. Is the traffic going to be terrible Thursday morning?
Hi 👋 not sure. It's Thanksgiving so I know a lot of people are off the roads and home. Safe travels
I have plan to business trip at San Antonio, How can I travel to each location? Taxi or bus? Thank you!

Hello i am visiting San Antonio and i really want to visit the river walk can you tell me where i could park my car

What are the safest parts of San Antonio? North, South, East or West?
@@PriscillaGutierrez Thank you....
What are the best times of the year to visit?
Hi 👋 Spring is not too hot but the weather can be different from day to day. July and August are the busiest with tourists and we do have extreme Texas heat then. I'd say late spring early summer, but special times to visit would be in April for Fiesta San Antonio and during the holidays the city is Extra beautiful 😍
Your cans are huge!

Best bars in San Antonio?
Hi 👋 we don't frequent the bar scene as much but dropping my favs from over the years. For live music 502 & Picks bar. On the Riverwalk Mad dogs & waxys are festive. My personal favs for views more upscale vibe Moons Daughter & Paramour. Esquire in the downtown area always has great cocktails. For more casual the Friendly Spot (outdoor) and we have several Little Woodrows locations in SA too. The Southtown area of San Antonio has a lot of bars within walking distance of each other. I've been wanting to try Thirsty Aztec
Je suis en RDC à Kinshasa je chercher le travail je peu venir comment?
San Antonio nothing can't go wrong bars restaurant all along the river walk
