    Metzen's dialog (writing) feels more immediate and real than what we've had over the past few expansions because he was raised on great writing and stole from the best. I'm thrilled that the cringey YA / PG-13 writing so popular across fantasy media is not a natural part of his DNA as a creator. It's a breath of fresh air after a season of black mold.

    Regarding the crystal in Hallowfall:
    When the cosmos was young, Light and Shadow clashed. This resulted in "shards of light" being flung across the cosmos, seeding worlds with life. I am 100% convinced that the crystal in Hallowfall is one such shard. It crashed into Azeroth hundreds of thousands of years ago, causing the worldsoul and the Elementals to become alive. Then, much, much later, as the Arathi had settled in Avaloren, a sect among them were called by this shard to defend it against the agents of the Void. So they left their homes and made it to Hallowfall, where they have remained for hundreds of years, locked in battle against the Nerubians and creatures from the underground sea.
    Now, I also believe, as seems to be the case with beings of pure Light in the Warcraft universe, that this object sort of oscillates naturally between Light and Shadow. Think of a Naaru times one thousand. It's been of the Light for aeons, but now it is increasingly turning into its shadowy form. Hence the brief periods of darkness in Hallowfall recently.
    We need to protect it and ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands (Xal'atath).

    • @Maria_Erias
      @Maria_Erias 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Naaru go into the shadow form when they're badly wounded. It's possible that this crystal in Hallowfall has been approaching Void because it's somehow tied to Azeroth's world soul, and with that giant sword stuck in her, Azeroth herself isn't doing so well. So the crystal is reflecting that.

    The light and void duality has been since the Ashbringer, once a void crystal found in the body of a dead orc warlock. Alexandros found it and it was infusef with light while being forged by Mangi in the great Ironforge anvil. Later it got corrupted again just to be purified once again. Priests are another example: Holy the light; Shadow the void and Discipline being in the middle since it takes discipline to be in balance between the two sides (balance druids might be there too but im not sure). Naarus are another perfect example, M'uru and his enthropic form seered into my mind the duality of light and shadow.

    Something about the Tauren story of Elune and Azeroth. We have "heard" Azeroth (The Earth Mother). We have heard Elune (Mu'sha), and it is highly reasonable that the Winter Queen is Lo'sha, The Blue Child and Elune's sister. But what of the Sun, The Brother of Elune and the Winter Queen? Thought of something. If Elune is a member of the Life Pantheon, and The Winter Queen is a member of the Death Pantheon, maybe An'she is a member of the Light Pantheon? The Tears of Elune was used to heal a Naaru, and Mu'sha was supposed to tend to An'she's wound. It would make sense that Elune would be able to heal a being of the Light if she was sister to one of its members and had been tending to him for untold ages. So maybe we have not seen this character yet, but will once the Light-Void focus Midnight expansion comes our (or earlier, if that giant light crystal under the Isle of Dorn is a piece of An'she).

    I want to know what happened thousands of years ago that made the proto-elves switch from worshipping Loa to worshipping Elune. It seemed a sudden, and final, change. You can even find ancient armour and things around the place showing proto elves worshipping both at one point. Also, what did they look like? Would love to know.

    • @ASIRA89
      @ASIRA89 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I think they started to worship that which gave them power. The well of eternity was basicly like a giant "Moonwell". The well transformed the trolls into elfs and they started to study it's power and learned to wield magic. That's why, compared to the other Loa, the new elfs became more tied to Elune and wanted to stay in her favor.
      Then Azshara became Queen and over time she herself became kinda like a false idol for the elfs. I almost suspect that Elune had a hand in the destruction of Aszhara's empire..

    I kinda think they should never do an Elune reveal. For one thing, I'm very doubtful that they could pull it off in a satisfying way. It also robs Warcraft of one more element (and a major element at that) that's actually mystical and mysterious. Explaining all the mystery is usually bad for lore and world building. Honestly they've revealed too much about Elune already that kind of diminishes her, like by the Winter Queen calling her her sister.

    I really wants to know more about Elune relationship with light and Void. Elune as the creator of Na'ru, her priestesses powers based on silver light rather than druidic power. Void form in the form of Night warrior and her strange relationship with Xal'atath. One of her most characteristic and visible tattoos is a half moon, so I don't believe she doesn't have some deeper connection with the moon goddess. Besides, the big crystal in TWW reminds me of the day and night cycle day=light night=void is literally Elune's calling card. Her relationship with Life, Death, Void, Light and Order gives the impression of Elune having influence and power in every corner and bigger force in the universe

      Well, Elune is of the Life Pantheon. That is all but confirmed at this rate. She does however have connections with other forces. I would imagine this is just a result of the Cosmic Pattern, as different forces team up or learn shit from each-other, etc.

    • @Maria_Erias
      @Maria_Erias 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@preds43 But she's gone rogue. So as to what she is *now,* that's still up for debate. From the way the Winter Queen treated her, I get the feeling Elune was supposed to be the counterpart of the Winter Queen but from another realm - Life, possibly. Or maybe something else, possibly Arcane (since astral-based druid spells deal Arcane damage - or used to, not sure if they still do). We know that the Titans come from, for lack of a better term, the Prime Material Plane, since they're born from world souls. Which means that the Titans can't be the Arcane/Order counterparts of the Winter Queen, Primus, et al, from the Shadowlands. Plus, when Titans die, they go to the Shadowlands, just like every other denizen of the material plane. They don't turn back into space robots.
      Elune being an entity from the Arcane pantheon could actually help explain her affinity with Life, if she began to nurture that after turning away from pure Order. It would also explain her connection to Eonar, whose own powers are rooted in both Arcane (as a Titan) and Life.

    Considering Elune is of Life which can be chaotic and with connection to Eonar (order) and being the Winter Queen's Sister (Death) they could portray her as a Goddess of Balance which does connect to the druids/nature/emerald dream.
    With arguments to her of being light/void, night warrior lore and the tear of elune being a way to restore a prime naaru, the elunahir story and how she did not intervene with the kaldorei genocide because she wanted them sent to ardenweald to help her sister kinda feels like "there is always life and death"/cycle always continue/there must be balance in all things.
    Wish they give her proper structure with the next expansions, patch 10.2 could have been an opportunity for her to show or make her presence felt considering its a druid theme and the conflict is in the emerald dream. Atleast for the winter queen she sent her envoy to help and had an appearance in one of the quests.

      SL forever ruined her img. She can't be shown to care about balance when her "favored" children were immortal for the longest time.
      Before SL, I was very interested to know more about her but now I'm indifferent.
      The only thing I want to know about her now, is how long she can stand fel energy, as it is literally come into creation via destruction of life energy. She can be used as a way to explore disorder/chaos releam. Fel is so potent that once the target is destroyed by it, their soul is also destroyed, so no shadowlands. I appreciate that this is a late piece of lore, but yesterday I found a book in the tower above Sinfall in SL. It appears to be a dreadlord's report to Sire D. It briefly describes every superpower in WOW and refers to life as their biggest enemy. It made a connection to me that - based on Winter Queen's remarks - Elune is a Life player and that could mean that she is not aligned with Titans by her nature

I got in late just before DF came out, and SL just felt... oppressive. I use gaming for escapism, and SL just didn't feel like an escape. I went from the news talking about death to the game talking about death and the afterlife, and it was just too much.

But I find it highly possible that the circular yellow ring prison in the logo of "The Last Titan" could be holding Elune and not the world soul at all. It may even be that Elune agreed to be imprisoned on purpose by her friend the Life-Binder Eonar....... because perhaps Elune is a dual personality both bright and dark; and being imprisoned while bright would mean she is imprisoned while dark. So they can limit her evil powers by keeping her imprisoned all the time.

Sarg got dominated while cleaving worlds, check his art, dom runes on him + blue eyes + runes on sword too, not a coincidence Anduin got showed how domination works.. Titans planned everything, cant wait to deal with them. What if Elune is not even a personality itself. I suppose she (or to say correct IT) might be a cosmic mechanism. Some kind of an algorithm that was made by the primordial ones and supposed to keep balance between all cosmic realms so that they couldn't destroy each other. And Azeroth might be the key to shut the entire mechanism down considering amount of various unnatural technologies within the planet. That might explain why Elune was represented in so many races' religions and beliefs by many of her names. It's not a goddess but a script that provides mortals powers to protect them.

    My running theory is that the Light and the Void are one and the same and not at all altruistic. Not only the priests can use both disturbingly easily, even Elune and the Naaru flip around basically on a whim. It's the two sides of the same coin. There can be no light without the darkness, and no darkness without the light. The light grows civilizations only to come back as void to consume them.
    Imagine light/void as a parasite. Invade any of the Life's domains, act like a good little symbiotic force to boost the civilization, and when they reach the right stage, FEAST till there's nothing left, then move on.
