Though Wisconsin band, Chicago has always loved our Femmes with absolute loyalty and vice versa. My older brother took me out of elementary school this one day because he and his skater friends loved this punk band that played on the streets of Chicago near Michigan Ave. one snare drum, one acoustic upright bass and acoustic guitar. I remember that because they drew a sizable crowd. The Violent Femmes from Wisconsin. They became my fav 6th grade on band. I really wish the lads and Victor DeLorenzo could figure out their differences because we love all 3 original members. It was DeLorenzos father who fronted the money to record their first album. A $10000 loan in 1981

I don’t normally like bands past their prime in live performances, but these guys are so energetic and youthful that they don’t look or sound old at all!
I am getting myself psyched up for this show tonight!!! I am in congestive heart failure and i was going to stay home but they put on the best love concert ive ever been to!! And that was in 1993! 😆 Im going to feel awful whether im there or at home, and the show must go on!!!! Woot woot!!!
@seankillingbeck83 I even special ordered my tshirt for tonight 😂 "Eight eight I forget what eight was for" 😆 I'm already having fun on my porch waiting on my high school friend to scoop me up!! And New Haven Style Pizza 🍕 for dinner to boot! Tysvm for this video!!! My bf didn't believe me that I sound perfect 👌 😌 Have a good one ✌️
Miss those days at the Phantasy Theatre…in 85 my band Radio Free America opened up for Simple Minds there….loved that venue……….that……..and the Nightclub upstairs…played there many times with my band Strange New Flesh in the late 70s and early 80s….3 piece….instrumental….all original progressive band…..I wrote all the music on bass and it was just intense playing by three young men who just wanted to be the best musicians we could be….it was just such wild times playing with that band.
I'm not sure. No one told me not to record, and I didn't see any signs saying I couldn't. I was sitting in the mezzanine section which is basically a balcony seat and I was in the front row of that area. I didn't really see anyone on the floor section recording during the show. There were employees who walked by and no one told me to stop recording but I also had my phone down low and was not obstructing anyone's view.
@arwen5311 , I went to see Jerry Lee Lewis in New York City, I believe 9 years ago, and they said recording wasn't allowed, but I managed to record a couple of songs. There are also some casinos that host concerts and don't allow recording. Other than that it's probably up to the band and/or venue. I've heard the band Tool does not allow fans to record at their shows and I've heard they've thrown people out for it.
I recorded most of the show in New Haven, but the most recording I saw anyone else do was just a snippet here & there. And you're right - there doesn't seem to be that many videos from this tour on YT. I think venues and acts have thrown in the towel on not recording concerts since enforcement would be nearly impossible, as they would have to prohibit the ubiquitous cell phone. In the old days, when you had to sneak in a tape recorder or video camera it was a lot easier to prohibit recording.
I was 17 and never heard of the Pogues prior to that show. They came out with a huge backing band of musicians and had people dancing in the isles and rushing the stage at the Warner Theatre in DC. Been a fan since then@@skill1983

Not a sax fan but what's perfect for this song I held her in my arms.

See you in September here in St Petersburg Florida!!!

They still sound amazing live!

They have a live CD from 1989-90 I think and the musicianship on that record is off the charts.
I saw them in Boston and NYC,in the following nights , They were great in 84. They were great. Seeing this now, not pleasing me at all!!!!
@@JoyceNash-c2w I agree, a little blah. I saw them in 1984 in Merrillville, IN and that show was lit.
Saw this show in Cleveland with my son and it was great!!! They rocked and sounded great! Nice recording of this tour. Thank you posting this!! 🎸
I still remember all the lyrics after 40 years 😅❤
These guys are great! They are killing it here, jamming, sounding just like the record, audience participation, and I know all these songs so well.
Thanks for sharing this!
I feel like a tornado just picked my house up and dropped it down in the past only we got older ! love love!
wow this crowd sang louder than the crowd in nyc a few days ago! this live is quite an epic event for us late middle aged gen x’ers
Fun fun fun with great music
❤hell to the yes!!
still got it
Awesome saw them in the early nineties, great band, great show. Would love to see them again.
Great video! I just got tickets today to see them in May. Im so excited!
Killin it
That bass is almost the size of a guitarron, how does he manage his strumming hand. Best tone ever!
He’s done it on a stand-up before also.
So great! Thanks Sean!
Great band. I never knew the song good feeling until it was in the prom scene of How i met your mother.
Taking my son on Saturday, can not wait!
Yeah? Hell yeah!!
Never seen percussion done on a Weber grill before... that was classic!
Jesus the musicianship!!😮
😍
Saw them in 1988 at the Phantasy Theater in Cleveland, little slice of heaven 9:25

Anybody know what kind of Bass is being played here? (At least on the first few tunes) I need one of those beheamoth son-of-an-oldgrowth
Ernie Ball Earthwood
SECOND!!! Wooo! Chur boi
Were people allowed to record? I’m not seeing many videos from these shows.

@@skill1983 cool! I haven’t been to many shows where you couldn’t but it was odd not to see many videos. Thanks for sharing!

Is that a barbecue on stage
Yes it is, lol. The drummer played on it a little.
Why...? Where do you keep your BBQ?
the femmes are what killed any shot of good bands getting signed out of milwaukee.
Saw them in 1988 when I was in high school. They were awesome but the Pogues opened for them and they destroyed!! RIP Shane MacGowen.
I love the Pogues and was so sad to hear he passed away. I would have loved to have seen them live. All in all that had to have been an amazing show!
