I thank any force out there for helping me finding this (proper VF concert) and thank you for posting it !!!! Happy 2024!! If you knew the history behind me and this band. Back in Corfu backpacking in 1988 and JH for educating me with proper 🎶🎶. I still swear to this day they are gifted with their instruments and variation in lyrics and tunes. They are UNIQUE. I won’t show off 😅 but I have original vinyls going back to 1992 but sadly I lost the signed poster by all the boys….and because I’m on my perch I can’t remember what I did last month, I can sing every lyric for every album I knew back in the day……this is the best search I’ve ever found xxxxx
Brian Gregory and Gordon Gano traded haircuts from last time I saw them perform at TURF in Toronto doing this set in 2014. This album is the soundtrack of my summer of 1983 in Bramalea, Ontario. It is still a perfect album.
I am 49. I have played in punk bands, metal bands, math rock bands, country bands, southern rock bands, bluegrass bands... the Violent Femmes are the singular most influential band in my life. I was 11 the first time I heard them back in 1986. Acoustic music was not cool in 1986. And then there was Violent Femmes. I would not be the musician I am today if not for these guys.
I knew the vf since 1982 loved that bass up and down sound mixed with sharp vocals drums guitar and lyrics usually were like stories ..use to play them all the time...still listen
How the years fly by, I watched the Femmes the first time at Kalvøya festival in Oslo in 1992 if memory serves, one of the more memorable performances I've seen. It's brilliant to see the guys are still rocking it.
This is the best setlist ever. More money tonight is my absolute favorite. Never tell would have perfected it but it's okay. Love the femmes ❤ still Killin it
yep the girl on the album played all the hits thats all we need well done VF all these other songs dont know iam just a blister in the sun that does me fine ........but will not hack hack it apart lol
Fan since 85 skated to them. Always been a band I've loved and wanted to see in concert but always been a band id prob leave the concert early on. I'll leave the music enjoyment to the old cassette and stickers I still have with this band. Remember play country death song to your toddler kids in the car to learn them early on
I always thought the Violent Femmes sounded like they were tangling their fingers up in the strings to play. I LOVED this band. I wore out the original album and cassette. Oh the road trip memories!
worked with these guys in the 90's, they really had that anarchy-punk vibe. They enjoyed disrupting the norm, kind of like the way Jonny Rotten does with the Sex Pistols. I think we did the interview sitting on the floor, the bassist was f-ing around the whole time, Gordon gave a half ass interview. Pretty entertaining.
Thats my favorite song too by them. I have three daughters and I always cry when I hear that song. It's very heavy for me. Just the whole premise of the song chokes me up.

I was at that show. Weirdest concert ever. They raced through the entire first album. No banter, no intros or crowd work. 45 minutes and folks were leaving because they heard what they came for all at once.
Glad all the posers were properly sifted from the real fans, they were immediately staring at their phone rest of the night, bragging about the concert they went to. Went to, only for the hits, apparently.
Don’t mind a little chit chat, but saw Mellencamo this winter and he talked a lot. But maybe his voice just can’t do a full concert any more. Was still fun to see him, in his prime he was all singing.
A Drummer .. only with a Snare.. a.. a .. Ahh ... arrrghhh eine Herausforderung ... miss some old cult songs - like - candel light ong .. children of Revolution.. a T-Rex - Song ...

They are unique. And have stayed unique. They are excellent musicians. I get a real kick out of them.
These songs are like blueprints to my life
The forces aligned for the greater good . Can't wait to see violent femmes this Saturday at the fabulous Burton Cummings theater
My Birthday!♥️🎊♥️🙌♥️🎉♥️ I am 54 years young! ♥️♥️♥️ Still love this band after all these years! ♥️♥️♥️

Nothing better than the purity and honesty of this band and their music! Their live shows are so much fun! Always have been!
Here in 2024. About to turn 50! ❤❤

Tell me about it. First time I have seen preform was '85 in NYC. Feeling old

Without the Country Death Song it is hard to call it the best ever, but it's definitely good!

Its not that hard to do when you've made some of the best songs ever made.

Hoping for songs from Hallowed Ground in addition to self titled album. Wanna here Come on Dad, Gimme the car. 💕

brutal sun
That acoustic bass looks quite short scale...the strings seem very loose....alternative tuning?
Can you guys hear The Velvet Underground in “Good Feeling”? Sounds like Lou and his crew.
The Hotel Last resort is a great album if you punks dont already know😮
Jerry yates
Have they managed to stay the original band?
according to Wikipedia drummers have come and gone and come back again and left. Not sure who this drummer is.

Thank you very quickly.
Did brian forget about his solo on ”Please do not go”, or what happened? 😂
Why is the singer wearing his mother's bathrobe?
Also its impossible to be nothing...1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics ..something cannot come from nothing
What the f kind of sax is that ? I thought a baritone sax was the biggest ?
Crowd kinda chatty. The Chicago show crowd way more engaged.
They don't interact with the crowd very much do they?
That's good, when I went to concerts I went to hear the band play music; is not playing music interacting with the crowd?
Strangely, nobody seemed to mind at all.
Don’t mind a little chit chat, but saw Mellencamo this winter and he talked a lot. But maybe his voice just can’t do a full concert any more. Was still fun to see him, in his prime he was all singing.
They should've shown up for sound check that day. Or at least band practice that month. Wtf.
It's the mix, not the band
Hmm...Jack Nicholson has made quite a change in his creative direction

Sheeeesh kinda kool...but not as good as use to be..at least with that dance song ugh....
