It's rare to find a genuine country artist in the industry these days. Too many studio cowboys going mainstream and not enough real ones I feel. Compare Brantley Gilbert to Jason Aldean and the difference is plain as day (No hate for Aldean though) It's one thing to throw on a cowboy hat, some boots and strum an acoustic with that 'country twang' but it's another to just feel it from the depths of your soul, no matter what clothing you got on or what kind of truck you drive. Because when you start associating appearances with a style of music, you're polluting a wellspring of Human creativity. That very error has deteriorated the integrity of a variety of genres- And it's heartbreaking to see it happen to a genre as rich and soulful as country/folk music. That's just my take on it.
