  • This guitar flies on the face of my general sentiments toward active pickups and EMGs in particular. However, I've been wanting try a baritone for a while and at the price I got it I couldn't say no.
Fernandes has made guitars for years primarily for metal players and made the sustainiac system famous. However, it is unclear whether they are still even in business at this point.
This particular guitar seems to be well made and plays well. With some minor setup work, it's quite nice. The stock EMG pickups are the main weak point on the guitar (unless you happen to really like those) but can be easily changed. Even as is it is not unusable at all.
What do you think of baritone guitars? Useful? Gimmicky? Why not get a 7 or 8string? Let me know in the comments.

I definitely recommend them lots of fun. Lots of country artists used them. I just recommend a more versatile pickup arrangement. But cmon at that price it’s so worth it.

Alright so with a baritone what is the purpose? Am being serious cause I've never played one before.

@@stephenwhitney8636 it’s tuned a fifth lower than a guitar. So the low string on a regular guitar is an E. On a bass the low string is also an E an octave lower than a regular guitar. If you think of vocal harmony it sits between the bass and the tenor (regular guitar). The low string on a baritone is a B (the intervals between strings are exactly like a regular guitar so all your shapes and scales still work) so it creates another range of tones when used with the other two for a fuller more interesting sound.

Ive found a Ravelle with floyd rose and EMGs, the sustainer was removed, if it was a Baritone I would 100% go for it, but it is a 24.75 and the owner is asking for 600$ for it, quite hard for me
