Me playing Blaster Master for the first time: "Huh feels kinda like a mix between 2D Metroids and Zeldas" *fights a boss called Mother Brain that acts almost exactly like Arrghus* Me again: "Still getting that 2D Metroid and Zelda vibe for some reason, can't quite place my finger on it"
what people don't seem to understand in the original is that you didn't jump into the ground to save your frog. The earth gave way under you, and that is when you found the tank.
The way they use the Storm Cloud on bosses reminds me of the original Blaster Master's glitch where on certain bosses you could drop a grenade, then pause the game at the right point in the explosion animation...and it would continue hitting the boss.
38:xx -- Glad you guys like the soundtrack, I thought it was lackluster and wish there was an option to use the original (unless they added that later, haven't played it in a while).
@@charlesmathieucharro Actually it's for Sega Genesis, which is probably the reason a lot of people don't know there was a sequel to the original, because it was on another companies system lol.
It's a bit of a remake/revamp of the original, but changed. Adds in elements from just about everything else in the series (even the novel), and eventually reveals that it's actually a sequel to the first game's original Japanese version, _Metafight_ . (As a note, _Blaster Master_ and _Metafight_ had entirely different plots.)
The OG NES version's soundtrack was better, particularly Area 6. Would have loved remakes of the original themes, or at least, something closer to the original themes. But still at great remake.
Lotus Prince eh I guess you're right but I also just don't understand the hype behind her. I mean wooo its an Arabian women jumping around and shit like come on at least gunvolt is cool even if it is weeb fodder
All these hipsters donating to charity. Yeah, such garbage. Also, you don't need to understand why people like Shantae. They just do. No one needs to justify it.
as someone already stated above, people like different things, there is no need for you to declare them as "hipsters" just because they like a certain character. you just seems salty as fck becuse you "weeb fodder" didnt make it into the run :)
Original is pretty tough. Bought it on Wii ware a while back. Put in maybe 5~6 hours. Was VERY interesting playing a retro game with those mechanics. Still...couldnt finish it. Smash took up most of my time. Blaster master zero on the other hand is a joy to play through.
Area 3 -- Woah, you can keep the doors open by shooting them?
Learn something new every day.
I'm disappointed that in the stealth section no one mentioned the fact that it took the guards a long time to address the elephant in the room.
Maybe I'm dense or half-asleep but what "elephant in the room" would that be?
@@EdmondDantes224 Shantae can transform into an elephant.

Give The Guardian Legend a shot, it's a mix of Zelda and Raptor: Call of the Shadows/Raiden.

The Shantae Item theme plays when you get pickups! Love the attention to detail.
I've never even seen Blaster Master, but the commentary and the dynamic between the runner, the couch, and the announcer are just great.
It took me 11+ hours with Shantae to 100% and this dude beat it in 44 minutes with minor power ups. Damn!
Wow what a cool game, never seen it before. Great run.
Very cool looking game, very fun comentary, great work on this one!

I had the Worlds of Power book for the game, was a good story.
@@Nicholas_Steel You aint the only one.
The original is actually metafight, where its more like this ones plot.
Surprised Mighty Gunvolt Burst isn't in this AGDQ... Still amazing run.

Shantae is cute.
Way to go Skav!
for some reason the sound effects in this game are actually giving me a bit of a headache but i cant quite tell why
Wait. They made a Blaster Master 2?
more of a remake than sequel
There is a blaster master 2 game on the snes

@@Gameorama91 The problem was that one just wasn't fun like the original. It was extremely tedious. Blaster Master Zero and Zero 2 though are awesome.
There's a run of it by UraniumAnchor in a past GDQ....in the Awful Block. So...kinda?
Anyone else imagining Powdered Toast Man when Shantae is swimming backwards?
“Instantly Powdered Toast Man ASSESS THE SITUATION!!”
I just HAVE TO ask!
How does Shantae drive a frickin' futuristic mech, which didn't even exist in ancient Arabia? WTF?
It makes sense now with the shopia 3 dance but not sure if that's cannon or not because how wierd it is
There's a blaster master 2?
does the pause trick to respawn destroyable blocks no longer work in this version?
Is this game a remake of the nes one? Does anyone know?
It's a reboot. Zero completely supplants the plot of the original BM and features some call-backs to that game, but is generally wholy original.

Not a remake though, its a reboot, it changes a lot of level themes.

Why waste time rendering 15 extra min of video? Every one of the uploads has extra at the beginning.
Right now they're just chopping up the stream to upload, they go back and do some editing after the marathon
They have not edited the marathons before what makes you think they will edit this years marathon?
You know you have a bunch of hipster garbage donating when "Shantae" was the top choice for the character

Fug I'm just a wee bit salty over it's mechanics.
