I figured out the SUPER easy way!!! Remove the bottom plastic piece that has the 2 cross tip screws FIRST, after you remove that then you can literally see the spring AND the punch. Under a minute to pop both sides. Thanks for this tutorial brother, you always crush it 🙏🏾
Installed ebay paddles today that cost like $40. Only issue was I didn't know after disconnecting the battery, it took a few hours for the system to reset completely. Initially, the reverse camera stopped working along with a couple of other features. Waited a few hours and enabled paddles in JScan and everything works perfectly.
Hey great video! I am somewhat confused though. I’d have to buy the tazer, plug it in, and then just hold those 2 buttons in run mode to access the ability to turn on paddle shifters? If I take out the tazer after, would it turn off the paddle shifters? Could a tazer remove the speed governor and if yes does it void warranty?
i would have rathered the radio upgrade than the paddles and the start/stop! i dont use them even if it didn't have the backup cam installed, the touch screen would've been better than the 5in you gotta love those jeep decision makers ~ oOOf
i have a 2011 5.7 grand cherokee limited and my backplate on the wheel is slightly different from yours, any idea on a way to put paddle shifters in those? or any recommendations for me to find out how to do so ?(the backplate is all one piece not like a separate piece like yours)
I have a question, I was watching your other video and I’m curious on if I can just replace the whole steering wheel and put an upgraded one with the paddle shifters already on it ?
Can you send a link for the paddle shifters you used? And what did you have to do to enable then in the settings? Thanks for your help. I love your videos...awesome stuff🙂
Appreciate it! I bought them used so I don't have a link, but the shifters are part numbers: 5RQ09DX9AD & 5RQ08DX9AD. You need the Tazer module to enable the paddles if your car isn't equipped. That comes from www.zautomotive.com
Question, when you are done going through the tazer settings, can you remove the tazer from the OBD port or do you have to leave it connected to maintain the settings?
@@BJPLIFESTYLE thanks for the response!!! Are paddle shifters considered live? As you, my main reason would be for installing paddle shifters. The rest of the functionality would be "extras"
@@BJPLIFESTYLE Thanks man! I looked at that user guide and it says " • enable support of added factory paddle shifters (2012-2021)....under vehicle settings", so I am taking that as we do not need to leave it plugged it!!! Great videos...KEEP THEM COMING!!!
So is the car in that setting all the time? Or.... Can you do what the 15 models do by holding the + to toggle it off or by hitting it (+) once to toggle on?
Once you enable it with the tazer it’s the same where you tap to enable or hold to turn it off. You can also slap the shifter into manual mode if you want
@@BJPLIFESTYLEBitchin.... 🤘😝🤙I have a 15 altitude model came with paddles, but now you have me thinking if there's a Grand Cherokee car club in my area lol

Make sure the tazer is connected & married to your car and press the two buttons that are in your tazer instructions to enter the tazer mode. Also make sure the car is on run mode without pressing the brake
@@BJPLIFESTYLE active cruise control will make your long trip a breeze and maybe safe some gas . It's an add-on they were charging way too much for and thought id do aftermarket, haven't seen the first person attempt it
I disabled my factory paddle shifters. ANY unnecessary wear and tear on a Mopar transmission is a horrible idea. And honestly, when are you ever going to need it? I'd love to physically remove them if I could.
I can’t find a single SRT in the spec I want for the price I want to pay, plus I’m just going to keep holding off and doing stuff on this while I work on other things!

Are those compatible with any grand Cherokee trim?
This is above my pay grade, I would buy a new Jeep before I would tackle this. LOL you have an adventurous soul. Great content.

Good tip! Appreciate you man 💪🏻
I didn’t know you could do that. Really cool!! My jeep came with them but I don’t really use it lol
They're fun with an exhaust / intake!
I’m working on getting all that soon. I have the 5.7 hemi so I want to hear it.
Definitely gonna rip!
I did this a few months back great addition. The steering wheel removal was a b**ch
It took forever but the gratification when it finally popped was satisfying lmao
@@BJPLIFESTYLE agreed i think i spent like 25mins on the first side
Upgrade the engine hood to SRT it will change the look of your car and make it more aggressive.
I might look into it! Just a matter of finding one that is the same color and not too expensive lol
What’s the point of making it look like something it’s not
Yeah the tool that we have at the dealer makes taking the airbag out way easier.
I bet lol the punch worked but took forever

Love the video man! The paddle shifter make it look so much cooler. When I bought mine it came with them
Appreciate the love! I wish they came factory on the 2018 Altitudes lol
Yeah they should, I have a 2017 and it came with them! It just looks so much better
@@tylersemethy6450 i chose a 2018 over 2017 for the apple car play.. had to sadly give up paddle shifters. Might try this install!
I had a 2015 Laredo that did have paddles. My 2019 Laredo e did not have them. And now my 2021 trailhawk has them.
Yeah it’s so weird how they pulled them from different models and years lol
Hi BJP, any videos coming up with an adaptive cruise control install.??
I don’t think so, I’ve never used cruise control or anything 😂

aha you mean cannot instal a shifters directly on a jeep that came without it?? like just plug and play ??!
Hey do you know if I can install paddle shifters on my 2021 grand Cherokee overland high altitude? Thanks
You should be able to if it's the same setup as in the video!
Do you HAVE to have the tazer to install & use the pale shifters? I have a 2019 jgc altitude & would love to have paddle shifters!!
You need the tazer or another product like it to enable them in the computer & keep them active yeah!
Question, when you are done going through the tazer settings, can you remove the tazer from the OBD port or do you have to leave it connected to maintain the settings?
If it's a "live option" you need to keep it plugged in for it to work. If not you can remove it

I just recently purchased the paddle shifters for my JGC do I need to purchase a taser?
Youll need one or AlphaOBD to enable them to work!
ok I need them to bro nice
Do you need the taser to be plugged in at all times for this? I want to purchase it but i find it to expensive just to install paddle shifters
I believe so, with all the other features it's worth it!

Is this kind of plug and play on a 2018 overland?
I mean do I need to purchase a tazer or can I just plug and play the shifters alone?

Can you install one into the 2023 jeep compass?
👍🏽 did you have to input a security code when you connected the battery back ?
Nope! Just popped the negatives back on and it was good to go
@@BJPLIFESTYLE oh ok, cause I've always heard once you disconnect the battery you need a security code for the radio.

can Paddle Shifters be installed on jeep compass Multijet ZF 9HP AT?
Not sure, sorry!
Don’t they all come with paddle shifters? Limited has paddles. Why would the Altitude not come with paddles?
After 2017 they stopped putting them on the altitude for some reason!
Can these be installed on Jeep Compass?
I added red paddle shifter extension on mine. $20 on amazon. ..

would it work on my 2011 5.7 L limited is the question?
Not sure as the steering wheel is a bit different, you’d have to find SRT paddles from that heat if they have them!
I wouldn't know...2011, and 2012 like mine, they have a 5 speed transmission...I'll look into it'd be cool

I did the same on my 2018 Jeep grand Cherokee but doesn't work
Can you please help me step by step to active it?
Kind reminder 😁
Ever got it to work? Thinking about doing the same and dont wanna waste time & money.
Ever get it to work ??
Where did you get the paddle shifters? How much were they, this is one the big things on my list haha
I got them from a viewer actually! I think they're normally like $60 each brand new, the parts #s are: 5RQ09DX9AD & 5RQ08DX9AD
Was it just me or was your gear stuck in "N"?
When you set it to manual the D becomes 1,2,3 etc!
Shoulda bought yourself n SRT8 bwoy.
