The Westin Hotel Sarasota, Florida - Review/ tour!! I Was Not Impressed

The Westin Sarasota appears to be a high-end luxury hotel based on the high nightly rate and photos. The building architecture, lobby design, and rooftop pool/dining areas of this Westin hotel are all very nice. I was honestly disappointed, though, when it came to the room decor/design and elite breakfast benefit.

Pros:
-Beautiful building architecture, lobby design, and rooftop pool/dining areas
-Great location! Downtown Sarasota
-Has a rooftop pool and restaurant/bar
Cons:
-Rooms were ugly, in my opinion, and I didn't feel comfortable
- Breakfast benefit for platinum and higher members was very sad, few options and no option to upgrade to the normal menu.
-$22 nightly "destination fee"
Pricing:
The average nightly price for a standard room: $180-$300
The average number of Marriott Bonvoy points required per night: 30,000- 44,000
I recommend using cash to stay at this property as long as the rate is about their average price under $3700. During peak times, when the rate is higher, consider using points. It is hard to get a good value from your points at this hotel which would be one penny per point.

I think the property made me choose points or breakfast, even though they should just provide breakfast because the property does not have a club lounge. I was very frustrated with the fact they would not let me upgrade from a continental breakfast to something better. they said many elite members feel the same way and that few ever choose the breakfast because of it.
-Space available upgrade to a higher floor, better view, and/or suite.

You mentioned elite breakfast…are you Plat, Titanium or Ambassador? Only ask bc they must be pretty stingy with upgrades if you are the later and gave you that room. I’m Titanium stayed there in 2019 and was given a studio suite overlooking Marina Jack thought it was nice but had heard the fixtures are showing wear but everything you said and show reflects the rooms being bland but not worn. Safe travels

I’m not sure about upgrades here as most suited only have 1 king bed. Because we needed the 2 beds there are no rooms bigger. But I will never stay at this property again mostly because of the sad breakfast they offer to elites.
