@@josephxjoestar Hi, im self teaching too and we dont set ourselves exams, we sign up for exams at the end of the year at an exam center, and the exams will be at the same time and date as everyone else doing the A-Level we signed up for e.g. I'm doing my biology a level with AQA and my exam will be at 1pm at 5/06/2024, the same time as everyone else doing their biology a level with AQA.
I have a test tomorrow on this and you are sooo helpful. I didnt feel prepared until i watched your video! ❤

hi miss, you know for the carbohydrates in the disaccharides when you do the equation for each, do you have to specifically know if it’s alpha or beta glucose being used??

Hey, thanks for the video, really helpful! Had a quick question though. At about 30:33 you said that the nucleotides are joined together by DNA polymerase to form phosphodiester bonds. However, I thought that the bonds between nucleotides are hydrogen bonds and those between the pentose sugar and the phosphate group in DNA. Could you confirm that?
hello, the bonds between bases on different strands hydrogen bonds, not between nucleotides
how much more detail is there to know in terms of dan replication, like 3", 5', Okazaki fragments and stuff

For AQA you don't need to know that. I have a separate DNA replication video as exactly the standard for AQA that will help

22:19 shouldn't the graph on the right decrease as there is less substrate to react so the reaction is not constant?
hey, that would be if the x axis was time. This isn't a change over duration of a reaction. Its showing the rate at set substrate concentrations. Hope that helps

Hey I’m new to a level and do not know how the specification works, at 1:59 you said that glucose is an example of a monomer but on the spec it says monosaccharides, are they the same thing
Yeah
Monosaccharides are single sugar units. Examples of monosaccharides are glucose, fructose and galactose.
Does reducing sugar test only test for disaccharides? I don't understand why acid is added to hydrolyse monsaccharides in the test for non-reducing but no acid is added in the test for reducing.
Reducing sugars tests for all mono and disaccharides, except sucrose. Sucrose is the only one that is non-reducing because the chemical group that is able to reduce is involved in the glycosidic bond. Thats why you have to hydrolyse the molecule, and then it works.

it doesn't match up exactly for Edexcel, but there will be some overlap. You'll need to check it against your spec carefully
