I still think azuras star is the better option, considerably better early game.....and by the time you're end game gold isn't an issue and you should be able to just buy whatever grand soul gems you need....as opposed to going and farming one human soul using it and repeating.
I never took the Axe, I always spared the dog. There are some quests where I'd choose either choice, but that's the one quest that always ends the same.
@denimgenes5909 the axe sucks anyways lol. The helmet is all right for early game, but like most Daedric Artifacts, they go straight in my chest at home. 😂
@@denimgenes5909 you gotta refuse his offer and return barbus, after that while he rants about the ax you gotta leave the dungeon and find a weapon stand to put the axe on. If you do it before he takes the axe you get the helmet and you can retrieve the axe from the stand.
@Erwin_Sm1th Yeah I do the same thing but I just like to collect as many unique items I can even if I never use them, just for the completionist in me, like yeah, I got that!! Lol
no idea why anyone would choose azuras star over black star. even early game doesnt make sense to get azuras since youre constantly fighting bandits and other people to fill the black star. better soul, better enchant, better xp gain. black star is better in every scenario
@@firenze6478not a glitch. Its not supposed to hold ONLY black souls, its just supposed to work as an infinitely reusable black soul gem. Which is a step above grand in a sense, as it can hold human souls as well as all others. Like any other black soul gem.
I say Azura's Star because of lore reasons, and i can get black soul gems from so many other places at higher levels, and i never bother over charging my enchanted gear anyway.
Honestly, I've never used the thing. I hardly even need Soul Gems anyway, unless I'm enchanting gear, and that's less than 20 soul gems per playthrough. I've like the follower you can get at the Azura shrine, she's usually the steward at one of my homes.
You never bother charging you enchanted gear? Well, your inventory must be full of useless weapons then. Enchanted weapons are only good so long as they've got a charge. Once depleted, an enchanted weapon becomes as useful as a vanilla weapon. All those powerful enchants won't matter if you don't keep them topped up.
if you really wanted to, you could get both the masque and the rueful axe. it just takes the time of farming out the slow time shout before doing the quest and taking advantage of the quest mechanics in the game where you dont complete certain objectives until you reach a certain point in dialogue with the appropriate npc (majority of "quest items" in your inventory being unremovable until certain parts of questlines follow this mechanic). you basically clear out haemar's shame and speak to clavicus like normal for two sets of dialogue, choose to spare barbas, then exit the dialogue, use the full three word slow time shout, fast travel to a location with an easy-access weapon rack, place the axe on the rack, and then travel back to haemar's shame. Clavicus should still be mid monologue about how youre no fun and blah blah then give you the masque when his dialogue completes. Since the rueful axe wouldn't be in your inventory at this point, it wouldn't get removed upon the masque entering, so you just fast travel back to where you placed it and it should still be there.
That's extremely useful to know, I typically do the easier version of that when buying homes but rarely test out the capabilities of that interaction with quest items
Tbh hircine is pretty cool for a daedra, he just really likes hunting. He made werewolves and his character design is peak only downside is he does kind of just ruin your life if you don’t hunt enough as a werewolf but becoming a werewolf is kind of serving hircine anyways so like that should kind of be expected.
Black Star actually has quite the bug in Skyrim, it can actually hold ANY type of soul, both white or black, unless you are using a mod that fixes that, it will always be the better reward.
Glad someone beat me to this. Azuras star would be a choice exclusively for RP reasons imo or if someone just really likes the shrine lady as a follower
Skyrim is also one of those games where the bugs are features. Two of these quests clavicus and hircine can be exploited to get both quest items. Hell, hircine’s quest you can keep all three items if you know what to do. Jarl Sweet Joel’s channel will light your path.
Most people don't know this but you can get both in the same save by joining sinding and killing the other hunters before killing him. You'll get savior's hide inside the cave and the ring of Hircine when you leave
I actually had a little trouble with this I ended up getting both but not the way you said every time it would take the ring away from me after I got the armor but I just came back after I finished killing the bandits and stored the ring in a chest at my house then killed sinding and got both
@@Copperkaiju so I personally helped him kill the hunters which leaves sinding alive then spoke to hircine got the ring or whatever and stored it in a chest in one of my homes I then went back to the cave where sinding is and killed him which gave me the saviors hide and I still kept the ring the saviors hide is trash tho I run a heavy armor character
After putting up with Barbas pushing me off of cliffs and barking incessantly I always detest him and have to resist killing that stupid dog so I don’t get stuck with a useless axe
Personally, I get the "black"star as early as possible. That combined with the mace of Molag Bal will allow for farming Enchanting like crazy. Picture this. Raid a raider camp. With each kill from the mace, that person's soul is in the star to reenchant your mace. You would be using grand soul gems time after time.
@@anthonybottigliero8336 Smithing fixes that. That and spending points that augment one handed use, and blunt aspects instead of blades and axes. Skyrim's leveling system is dependent on giving credit where credit is due. For example, if your 1-handed level is at 15, you will need to do 80 points of damage before leveling up one-handed weapons to 16. That's not factual, but it still makes a point. So, if you attack with a weapon that does 8 damage, you have to hit someone/thing 10 times. Instead, if you had a weapon that does 10 damage, you only need to hit 8 times. You level up a skill based on what you accomplished. Getting an ebony mace that early in the game is critical to leveling up a skill the fastest. Not to mention, it helps to raise your enchanting as well. If you still think it's not good enough, show me something better.
I used to pick the Black Star, but now I just went with Azura's Star. You get a follower with it too, and a pretty good one. Enthir in Winterhold and Falion in Morthal always sells Black Soulgems, when you are at end game money is not even an issue, especially when you got your enchanting and alchemy maxed, unless you are playing beggar run or a no looting run, since some people are just stupid. Plus I'll know which bastard I Black Soulgem'd by using one at a time.
If you did Ill met by moonlight quest before getting Bolar Oathblade you can still get by playing the game, specifically waiting for 1month ingame (not sure for the details but i got it in the forums) 1month ingame which is pretty fast if you play alot the Area Reloads where the Talos Altar is rebuilt with the Bolar Oathblade and the note
That Animal Crossing music in Skyrim is doing in my head. Cool Hircine glitch though. I didn't know I could do that and it's been a long time since I learned anything new about Skyrim!
I am happy that you mentioned that you can get both the the Ring of Hircine and the Saviors Hide however Morals still win and I would spare Sinding. Also, you greatly surprised me with your ending comment, it was a breath of fresh air. May God be with you.
You can even keep the cursed ring as well, after killing the hunters dump the ring on one of the chests. Go outside get the roh, go back in kill Sinding and then get the cursed ring to get all three
if you restore the star you get a follower (useless they're more hindrance than help) black star you get a merchant (always useful) if you have the slow time shout you can get both the axe and mask by placing the axe in a weapon rack in one of your houses while under its effect (you will have to use the shout at least twice) I've seen a video of this just never tried it because I don't like the quest and the couple of times I have done the quest I never kill the dog there's supposed to be a way to keep the cursed ring and get the other 2 rewards you just put it in a chest (if it lets you I've never tried it) in the grotto (there's a couple right near the entrance) the video I saw of this had you put the normal ring in the chest as well when you re-enter and kill him for the hide
I like the Black Star, it’s great for recharging weapons and when i stack up enough soul gems it’s always nice having another Grand soul to enchant with
Using the breton gives 25% magic resist. Maras blessing in riften gives 15%. Saviors hide gives 15% resist. 10% resist on ring n necklace starts you at 75% magic resistant. Pretty sweet defense for the beginning of the game.
@@SenpaiJake I honestly should've recognized it; I've got a coworker from Tennessee, and I always give her a hard time when her accent gets thick and "light" starts coming out "lot"
Guys let's be honest, you'll rarely ever use a black soul gem in the game and even if you do, you can't use the dark star to, say, cure your vampirism. Besides, it's easy to get money for the best soul gems from vendors. The actual best use of the Azura's star is to refill a weapon's enchantment so you're not carrying dozens of soulstones that have weight. Just hunt some animals with soul trap spell or enchantment or a vound bow with that perk and you have infinite supply. Keep the white star. Also in the anniversary edition you can transform superior soul gems into black soul gems in the necromancer home 4 at a time. So there's no excuse bit going for the white star.
I would argue the best moral way to finish A Daedra's Best Friend is to not start the quest at all. Barbas is better off not being by Clavicus side as he would turn on him so and have him killed. Clavicus Vile also tells you that because of Barbas's existence he's at half his power. So either option... killing Barbas where he absorbs him or sparing Barbas where he says "you forget what supreme power feels like when you've been stuck in a cave" supposedly give Clavicus Vile back his full power. At least with the option of sparing Barbas in theory his power could still be split in half and separated at some point in the future. I always wished Bethesda would have created a choice whereby one could join the Vigilants to seek to cut off the Daedra influence in Skyrim. Leaving Clavicus trapped in a cave, cutting off (blowing up) the entrances so no one could find him and leaving Barbas to be treated right by an owner like Lod who clearly cared enough to pay someone to find him and bring him back is the better choice. Of course the Vigilants would still want you to kill Barbas as he is technically Daedra, but they might be convinced to spare him knowing that killing him would bring Clavicus back to full power. Regardless, I think you are using the cuteness of a dog to also cloud your moral judgement. If you look up Barbas for the Elder Scrolls Online, it shows that Barbas has a few humanoid daedra forms as well as the form of a dog. He may look like a dog, but he is ALL Daedra. Don't be fulled. And of course if you're playing the evil path where you just want relics of power, there used to be away (in the vanilla game) to get both. It required having the our slow time shout maxed and being super fast to travel to a weapon mount, and mount the Rueful Axe before the quest" completion text pops up. I did it once, but I think with anniversary updates and with mods and the unofficial patch, it removes the ability to do this. Another thought is that Azura will tell you that if you don't cleanse the star it may take a 1000 years for it to return back to her realm and that she doesn't think you have that time to wait. In theory cutting off all relics would only last for a 1000 years and at some point they will return to the realm they originated from.
Barbas isn’t a dog at all, he is just dog shaped at times. He is a shape-shifting Daedra. In Oblivion he is a little dog statue. In Morrowind he goes by Creeper and is a scamp.
I saw you got lost on your way to the dog so for future reference use the clairvoyance spell to guide you to the path but know it only points you towards the current selected goal and only works if you have one goal selected at a time
The Black Star is also capable of holding white souls. There is no reason besides role playing to pick Azura's Star over The Black Star. Well, it does get you a follower too I guess.
Clavicus Vile is naturally the Daedric Prince of lies and trickery, so it only makes sense that his entire quest is baiting you into making a bad choice. The decision between the Masque and Axe isn't quite as easy as one might think, because you're opting between a really powerful weapon, vs one of the best Helmets in the game. The Rueful Axe actually has one of the highest offensive ratings in the game, it dishes extreme damage in a single hit, making it very good for Orcs or Redguards, and a devastating weapon if you like two handed weapons, and power attack a lot... but, there is a catch... while it dishes out the most single damage per hit; it's also the slowest swinging weapon in the game (slower then even Warhammers), making it actually have a lower DPS then most other weapons. You can easily outpace it using an enchanted Daedric Warhammer. So technically speaking, it's a scam that Clavicus is trying to bait you into taking. The Masque on the other hand, not only counts as a Daedric Artifact, but it's uniquely designed and one of the best helmets in the game, offering stellar defense for anyone who runs Heavy Armor. If you're not using a Heavy Armor build, it's more of a trophy then anything, but if you are; it'll probably be your primary helmet until you get the ability to craft Daedric Helmets and can enchant your own. This is similar to how Clavicus did the quest in Oblivion, where you had a choice between the Masque and Umbra. And there, both were unbelievably good again. But Umbra outclassed the Masque, since it did way more damage, and was only potentially matched to Goldbrand. Arguably the best option was the Masque and Goldbrand, but Umbra could be exploited, since it counted as a quest item until you returned it to Clavicus, giving you a 0 weight sword that outpowers every other weapon in the game. As for Hircine's quest. There is an exploit to get both the Ring of Hircine and the Savior's Hide. Simply, complete the Quest going for the ring, then after getting it, go back inside the dungeon, kill Sinding; take his hide, and you'll get the Savior's Hide too. So you can get both, and honestly; Savior's Hide is one of the best armors, Ring of Hircine has a truly unique effect. Both are amazing.
for me i always spare Barbas and go with Azura's Star for the star, the fact normal soul gems are so common is the reason i choose it. Cause you constantly get more and are able to sell them. It's not for a game breaking amount, but it's decent pocket change when you're short a few hundred septims for what you need. So i tend to hoard them for a rainy day.
I usually never do the azuras star on my toons lol, always felt like a waste of time given just how many soul gems i STAY getting lol! About the only time I ever do it is if im doing a caster playthrough, like rn, i got an Enchantress build and I took Azuras star because the only thing i use soul gems for (since sll my gear is enchanted exactly how i want it) is recharging my dagger which is the heart of the roleplay on the build. I also wanted the chick as the follower because she's also a caster and she uses a plethora of expert level destruction spells so she's a great follower that PUMPS the damage!
I throw all my Daedric artifacts into a chest so which star isn't important (I take the white so I can use the follower to sacrifice to Boethia) and I won't kill Barbus.
You do know the game doesn't care which follower you sacrifice, right? You can just hire any old follower from an inn and kill them, there is no need to waste a choice for something so inconsequential.
As far as I'm aware in lore there is a difference between trapping in a regular soul gem vs a black soul gem, for regular soul gems they trap the energy of the soul but allow the soul itself to move on to a normal afterlife but black soul gems trap the soul itself until used then condemn the soul to a hell usually Coldharbour or the Soul Cairn. So I go for Azura's Star if i play a good character and the Black Star if I play an evil one.
1st- i love finding another country Skyrim lover 2nd- the blackstar can hold black and white souls due to a glitch 3rd- the mask is so much better and the axe does not offer anything good.
the thing about the star is the dialogue leads me to believe the items bugged as Nelacars dialogue says the star can ONLY hold black souls so I think there was meant to be a trade off of "any white soul" VS "only black souls"
9:15 -- it used to be mehrunes Dagon until the dawn guard dlc. Molag Bal needs to die in the deepest fire pit we can find after being gang graped in every hole possible by the most pissed off creation of hermaeus mora's most tentacle filled nightmares with blades, sandpaper, lemons, and salt.
When it comes to Azura’s Star, I downloaded the Cheat Room mod. It lets you get any and all equipment as well as all the Daedric Artifacts. Including the Black Star (Edit) You can also get 1000 filled Black Soul Gems there as well
holding the black star is the same as holding a filled soul gem but instead of it getting destroyed when used, it doesn't so it can be filled again. The mask is better because it's the only daedra item to wear while you can use any other weapon to use so if you go for the axe then that's the only daedra " weapon" you can hold at a time, I rather hold a weapon, have a ring, wear the armor and have the mask. I rather have the ring and wear the ebony mail armor you get from another daedra quest
Its not a glitch. Its an infinite black soul gem. Which holds any soul, black or white, like normal. Nelecar is just wrong in what HE says its supposed to do. Its why it never got patched. It would require a new voiceline for Nelecar. And lets be honest, its Bethesda we’re talking about. They aren’t going to put that much effort into just fixing that.
@@sheloveshead3174 they literally patch and update it to the extreme detriment of the modding scene every now and then. This or last year they did it again and pissed everyone off. LEGENDARY edition of skyrim tho... that ones probably never gonna be updated again.
The black star, without the unnoficial patch mod, (which means ps4/5 players always have this and anyone else might not) is able to hols black or white souls, on pc and xbox the unnoficial patch fixes this but you can always install a second mod to revert this
Tbh I always grab the black star if I’m playing a 1 handed playthrough or battlemage then I do the dupe glitch and get like 50 of em then use the made of molag bal when I’d fight bandits and fill em all and and occasionally use it to refill it and since the black star holds both white and black souls you can get smaller souls in it as well but humans are just more common and way easier to kill for grand souls
From what I know, you can actually get both the Rueful Axe AND the Masque of Clavicus Vile. It involves complicated and hard to pull off jank. If you REALLY want both, easiest way is to just aid Barbas and then spawn in the axe with console commands. If you're on Xbox and don't have access to console commands, don't bother with the axe. It's not worth it even for wall deco.
With the Clavicus vile quest you can actually get both daedric artifacts axe and mask it involves bamboozling the god of bamboozles by: choosing to spare lil Barny, exiting the dialogue and let him run his mouth while exiting the cave and teleporting to your house as fast as you can with axe equipped and shoving it on a weapon rack before he completes his yapping which will remove the axe but if done so correctly the axe isn’t in your inventory but on a weapon rack resulting in nothing being removed and the mask being given to you🤡✌️
Same with ring of hircine and saviours hide, just spare Wolfy boy exit cave and talk to hircine so he gives you the ring… then run right back in kill wolfy and skin em so hircine completely forgets you spared him and he rewards you saviours flesh
In need to try this. The axe is useless even for a two hand run, but tricking that asshat is a must do for me. No way in hell I'm gonna kill Barbas for a lousy axe.
@@kingrooper before you do you have to have the slow time shout, do the werewolf glitch to wear 5 amulets of Talos so you can spam slow time shout while exiting the cave, it will be glitched so that you can't turn your camera so I hope you're skilled enough to navigate your way out of the cave. There are multiple how to videos on this that you should consider watching
But did you know? You can get a 3rd reward in sinding's quest, it's the 'cursed' ring of hircine All you gotta do is just put the 'cursed' ring inside the chest or give it to a follower after you kill all the hunters. But don't speak to any of hircine's aspect yet before you put the ring in the chest. After that, just continue doing what senpai jake says. And then return to the chest to get the 'cursed' ring
I used to choose the black star but lately I'm paying more attencion to lore plus Nelacar reasons are very stupid so I side with Azura in this. With Clavicus Vile 99% of times I choose the mask and it is my "true choice" I do remember do choosing the axe in one game and keeping that choice without loading back. And with Hircine I always used the glitch in wich you get the two of them when I played Skyrim in ps3 an things like that, now unless that I decided to play werewolf I just take the Hide.
Good thing on the clavicus vile quest.... If you're on PC. Complete the quest, get the mask. Then enter qasmoke and get the axe as well then "coc" to Whiterun...
The quest with the talking dog I some how glitched out so badly I got both the axe and mask without killing the dog. Don't remember how I did it but I was running on like 2 hours of sleep over a three day period.
The only real mistake you can make is not convincing our friend from the cloud district that you're his best friend ever and then sacrificing him for an artifact
One question, if u soul trap human and their soul will be at soulcairn right? So if u use gem filled with human soul for refill ur weapon enhancement where their soul at?
I wonder how Lore accurate the Daedra items are? Wonder if a mod makes them more competitive and lore accurate, so each has positive effects that could be more competitive with their other choice.
Lol first time i ever did the werewolf quest i got the saviors hide and was like fuck this and reloaded my save and killed all the hunters after that i exclusively used hircines ring and sinding as a companion
Jake i really need you help i was doinv the special thieves guikd quest for solitude and when i openned the chest and the item wasnt in there and im on the switch so i cant use cc and i also tried goinvto an old save and that also didnt work pls i need ur help
I personally like the regular azura's star simply for the infinite storage of soul gems rather then the oke use of the bmack soul gem, it is better yeah but i like seeling doul gems instead of keeping them
I am shamelessly saying this right now After 5 years of playing the game and replay like 20 times This is the 1st time i know there is a black azura star quest Yes
I'd say my least favorite daedra is probably between Hircine and Boethia. I'm a pretty big fan of peryite and malacath. I think molag bal and sheogorath are pretty funny. I think Meridia is annoying but sorta worth it for the sword.
Given how bad Barbas is with jumping into you, and almost pushing you off cliffs, I have to admit that it was tempting..... but in the end I prefer the boon from the mask.
Your uniquely named dragons come from the burial mounds. Like the one you travel to near Windhelm. Alduin raises those dragons if your nearby. 17:50 You can actually see it happen if you get there quick enough. Delphine has the map in Riverwood. Loot it after she accepts that your dragon born.
1:10 Yeah Azura's Star sucks. Human enemies are plentiful and as you said, almost exclusively give Grand Souls. The only reason to go with Azura's Star imo is for roleplaying purposes if you're doing like a "purely good" playthrough
1:25 nah you are wrong, Black star is still better for early game as a black soul is equivalent to the highest grade of white soul which usually are very hard to kill mobs, while you can recharge the black star with some random easy to kill bandit. In fact if you find yourself in one of those bandit camps with a enchanting table for their resident mage, you can enchant yourself a new whole set with the souls of those bandits at maximum value with the black star. The normal star is simply not worth it as it will usually get filled with a worthless soul AND the valuable white souls are hard to get at early game while black souls are easy and equivalent. At the late game meanwhile the black star is still more valuable because black gems are rarer. So in any stage the black star is more valuable, but that is because black soul gems are essentially better soul gems, they always give maximum value even with a random guard or bandit
For the Black Star vs Azura's Star, I'm not sure if you're misunderstanding something or just wording things weirdly. Both are infinitely reusable and both only hold a single soul at a time. You make it sound like Azura's Star holds multiple souls at once. As for the decision, there really isn't one outside of roleplay purposes or mods. The difference is supoosed to be that Azura's Star is any soul except for black souls while Azura's Star is just black souls. Even as it is, there is no strategic reason to take Azura's Star because even in the early game, black souls are common thanks to all of the bandits everywhere, and when it's infinitely reusable, it isn't even wasteful to use them for leveling Enchanting, unlike the normal Black or Grand Soul Gems that are expensive and only worth using for your main gear (even if you do go for better stuff later) and not for mass enchanting for levels. Black souls are plentiful early game and late game. But even worse, a bug makes it so that the Black Star can still get other souls, which it isn't supposed to. I personally find this makes it weaker than intended, black souls are always better than petty, lesser, common, or even greater souls, so the intended limit means you don't need to worry about a weaker soul filling it up. But with this bug, it means that the Black Star can do everything that Azura's Star can do and more. The Unofficial Patch fixes this to give the Black Star the proper limitation, so there is an actual difference, but again, black souls are plentiful even in the early game. Grand souls, equivalent in strength, are actually harder to get in the early game, coming from stronger enemies like Mammoths. Giants don't even give grand souls. So in the early game, you're only going to get petty, lesser, and common souls in it. With or without the bug, the Black Star is the better option. The only time Azura's Star is better is roleplay. If you're playing your character as someone that would worship or obey Azura, like a Dunmer, then yeah, it makes sense to get Azura's Star. It's still really useful, even if the Black Star is better.
I just did the Barbas qeust on level 12. It's a really easy quest. I would rather get that quest over and done with as fast as possible, because I hate Barbas. That dog has pushed me off a mountain so many times in play throughs.
In the hircine one we can get both first help sinding killing hunters then kill him and dont talk to the soul that appears from him go outside there will be other soul of hircine whatever then take ring and go inside the cave you'll get both please like
I can't finish the video cause I'm tired of people not actually playing the game and making a list off of stuff they have read. This game has been out for more than a decade. Azura's star does not hold infinite souls just one. It just does not break when used. The black star is all around better as an item but some people don't want to make azura mad which is fine stop telling people they are dumb for playing their character how they want.
I've seen more than one comment taking that at face value too.. just straight up misinformation because of a lack of research. The whole Azura's Star segment is just lifted entirely from a video this dude made two years ago, and people corrected him THEN as well. He couldn't even be bothered to correct himself!
Even the people who dropped the baby penguin off the edge in that Mario game know that only sociopaths kill Barbas
Super Mario 64 on Nintendo 64 I remember that game. Loved my 64, also played Banjo Kazooie, and Starfox 64. That was back in the mid to late nineties
There's people who *didn't* drop the baby penguin off the edge in Mario 64? :P
bye bye poochie
He annoyed me
I still think azuras star is the better option, considerably better early game.....and by the time you're end game gold isn't an issue and you should be able to just buy whatever grand soul gems you need....as opposed to going and farming one human soul using it and repeating.
I never took the Axe, I always spared the dog. There are some quests where I'd choose either choice, but that's the one quest that always ends the same.
Pretty sure you can get both. Can't remember how to exactly, but just watch a video tutorial.

If I choose Azura's Star, it's for RP reasons.
Because they aren't playing arseholes.
Go figure.
I usually pick the black star. I rarely kill animals, but I kill endless bandits, usually keep an enchanted dagger for when it needs to be recharged
Skyrim is one of those games that chooses morality or what benefits you with the cost of the gods liking you.
Astute observation, Sherlock
Huh?
Skyrim is also one of those games where the bugs are features. Two of these quests clavicus and hircine can be exploited to get both quest items. Hell, hircine’s quest you can keep all three items if you know what to do. Jarl Sweet Joel’s channel will light your path.
Most people don't know this but you can get both in the same save by joining sinding and killing the other hunters before killing him. You'll get savior's hide inside the cave and the ring of Hircine when you leave
That's what I did this time lol, cool trick.
I actually had a little trouble with this I ended up getting both but not the way you said every time it would take the ring away from me after I got the armor but I just came back after I finished killing the bandits and stored the ring in a chest at my house then killed sinding and got both
@@Jgwentworth1But we can't drop quest items. How did you store it?
@@Copperkaiju so I personally helped him kill the hunters which leaves sinding alive then spoke to hircine got the ring or whatever and stored it in a chest in one of my homes I then went back to the cave where sinding is and killed him which gave me the saviors hide and I still kept the ring the saviors hide is trash tho I run a heavy armor character
@Jgwentworth1 Ok. Thank you. I heard that Sinding occasionally kills Whiterun guards so I will probably try this.
But the bad thing about that is having to use a weak-ass weapon like Molag Bal's Mace.
1 month AFTER killing sindig
I don't like playing evil characters, so I always opt for Azura's Star. Trapping the souls of humans always seemed kind of evil to me.
Do you get to the soul cairn often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don't.
Thanks for the Comment i really love when other Christians get to see the ending! God Bless!!
You can even keep the cursed ring as well, after killing the hunters dump the ring on one of the chests. Go outside get the roh, go back in kill Sinding and then get the cursed ring to get all three
@@ErwinOomenwhat is "roh"? Also, I thought there was only two quest items.
@@Copperkaiju ring of hircine, cursed ring of hircine and saviors hide can be obtained in one play through without console commands
@@ErwinOomen Oh. i thought there was only one ring. Interesting. But how is roh different from croh?
if you restore the star you get a follower (useless they're more hindrance than help) black star you get a merchant (always useful)
if you have the slow time shout you can get both the axe and mask by placing the axe in a weapon rack in one of your houses while under its effect (you will have to use the shout at least twice) I've seen a video of this just never tried it because I don't like the quest and the couple of times I have done the quest I never kill the dog
there's supposed to be a way to keep the cursed ring and get the other 2 rewards you just put it in a chest (if it lets you I've never tried it) in the grotto (there's a couple right near the entrance) the video I saw of this had you put the normal ring in the chest as well when you re-enter and kill him for the hide
You can still use Nelecar (sp?) as a merchant even if you restore Azura's Star.
@@anthonybottigliero8336 I prefer the black star it's more useful I just rarely soul trap because I've never played as a necromancer lol
9:09 a new hand, touches the bacon
I kept Barbas instead of finishing this quest... He's better than the masque or are, although he his a bit stubborn when it comes to moving...
It's refreshing to hear a fellow Southerner on the internet! At the risk of being weird or intrusive, may I ask where you're from?
@@shadowrose8907 nah man people ask all the time! I’m from East Tennessee!
Both are amazing.
for me i always spare Barbas and go with Azura's Star
for the star, the fact normal soul gems are so common is the reason i choose it. Cause you constantly get more and are able to sell them. It's not for a game breaking amount, but it's decent pocket change when you're short a few hundred septims for what you need. So i tend to hoard them for a rainy day.
Funny thing.... there are multiple "choice" scenarios where you can get both rewards instead of one or the other like Bethesda intended
6:59 at first i was like nah but then i remembered only total weirdos irl seriously pick the imperials so fair
I throw all my Daedric artifacts into a chest so which star isn't important (I take the white so I can use the follower to sacrifice to Boethia) and I won't kill Barbus.
All my homies hate that stupid ass dog
You do know the game doesn't care which follower you sacrifice, right? You can just hire any old follower from an inn and kill them, there is no need to waste a choice for something so inconsequential.
Question. In the quest with the dog, Instead of running all the way back out, why not use the door near the chest to leave?
As far as I'm aware in lore there is a difference between trapping in a regular soul gem vs a black soul gem, for regular soul gems they trap the energy of the soul but allow the soul itself to move on to a normal afterlife but black soul gems trap the soul itself until used then condemn the soul to a hell usually Coldharbour or the Soul Cairn. So I go for Azura's Star if i play a good character and the Black Star if I play an evil one.
1st- i love finding another country Skyrim lover
2nd- the blackstar can hold black and white souls due to a glitch
3rd- the mask is so much better and the axe does not offer anything good.
the thing about the star is the dialogue leads me to believe the items bugged as Nelacars dialogue says the star can ONLY hold black souls so I think there was meant to be a trade off of "any white soul" VS "only black souls"
ive been bingeing your videos😂
Thats AWESOME MAN!!!
Watch out for the Nipplefish in Lake Ilinalta!
Including the Black Star
(Edit)
You can also get 1000 filled Black Soul Gems there as well
holding the black star is the same as holding a filled soul gem but instead of it getting destroyed when used, it doesn't so it can be filled again.
18:48 editor did you dirty right there 😂😂
You can just take soul gems from the hidden chest under a rock in Dawnstart that contains the caravan merchant's inventory, so Azura's star.
Black star LITERALLY is azura star+ now effects people to they've still not patched it
Its not a glitch.
Wydm still not patched this game is never going to be patched again and it’s been like that for years

With the Clavicus vile quest you can actually get both daedric artifacts axe and mask it involves bamboozling the god of bamboozles by:
choosing to spare lil Barny, exiting the dialogue and let him run his mouth while exiting the cave and teleporting to your house as fast as you can with axe equipped and shoving it on a weapon rack before he completes his yapping which will remove the axe but if done so correctly the axe isn’t in your inventory but on a weapon rack resulting in nothing being removed and the mask being given to you🤡✌️
Same with ring of hircine and saviours hide, just spare Wolfy boy exit cave and talk to hircine so he gives you the ring… then run right back in kill wolfy and skin em so hircine completely forgets you spared him and he rewards you saviours flesh
In need to try this. The axe is useless even for a two hand run, but tricking that asshat is a must do for me. No way in hell I'm gonna kill Barbas for a lousy axe.

But did you know? You can get a 3rd reward in sinding's quest, it's the 'cursed' ring of hircine
All you gotta do is just put the 'cursed' ring inside the chest or give it to a follower after you kill all the hunters. But don't speak to any of hircine's aspect yet before you put the ring in the chest.
After that, just continue doing what senpai jake says. And then return to the chest to get the 'cursed' ring
It is possible to end the clavicas vial quest with both the mask and the axe. Also, you can dual wield the mask with the jagged Crown.
The black star, ring of hircine and sanguíne rose! 👍✌️👍
It's too bad helping Azura recover her star doesn't grant you a peek under that toga because the Twins of Azura look pretty glorious on that statue.
Is that other quest reward never head of the mask
@@Bioh9z9rd yeah, the Masque of Clavicus Vile and the Rueful Axe are the two rewards
The quest with the talking dog I some how glitched out so badly I got both the axe and mask without killing the dog. Don't remember how I did it but I was running on like 2 hours of sleep over a three day period.
I prefer Azura's Star, but mainly for RPG purposes. The Black Star is the evil option and imo only fitting for necromacers and the like
Ngl i didn't even finish the second quest completly, which means that i keeped the dog.
Does choosing Black Star over Azura's Star interfere with obtaining the Daedric artifact achievement?
Damage Stamina enchant stops enemies from power-attacking you, so it's not a bad enchantment at all.
You can get Both the Ring of hircine and the saviors hide when you have to take the ring first and then go in the cave again and kill the werewolf.
You can deal with vile if you’re smart enough, but my distain of Molag is unrelenting.
The skull of corruption quest from Don star offers a choice at the end as well.
Ive always chose the white version because of the follower. Shes quite powerful!

I wish there was a house that would properly display the deadric artifacts properly
You can actually get the ring and the mail if you go outside spare sinding ignore the hunter outside go back kill sin then you get both items
Says we made the wrong choice in the daedric quest then tells us to make the same choice everyone makes.
The black star in actual gameplay holds any type of soul.
The only reason to choose white star is for RP purposes.
don't feel bad for the sinding dood he stole the ring
I am shamelessly saying this right now

Yes
Is any daedra more scummy than Molag Bal?
An argument could be made that Boethiah is the worst, but I'm not making that argument.
F Molag Bal.
Going into Azuras star reminds of the fortress of solitude in superman
Fun fact you can actually get the axe without killing the dog and get the hide or ring by doing a glitch
I'd say my least favorite daedra is probably between Hircine and Boethia.
I'm a pretty big fan of peryite and malacath.
I think molag bal and sheogorath are pretty funny.
I think Meridia is annoying but sorta worth it for the sword.
Clavicus Vile quests, its ALWAYS better to not make Deals With him, Clavicus's wholr Sthick is makeing deals with mortals that they end up regretting
I always try at least to take both the Axe and the Helmet. I never kill our boi Barbas
Molag Baal for least favorite deadra, Sanguine and Sheogorath for favorite (they're a riot to talk with 😅)
By the way if you have daedric crafting skill and the creation craft daedric artifacts you can craft them by smithing
The black star also just has always been glitched to receive any soul
So in any stage the black star is more valuable, but that is because black soul gems are essentially better soul gems, they always give maximum value even with a random guard or bandit
never really was a fan of the mask personally and even if the axe is weak it looks sick imo
In the hircine one we can get both first help sinding killing hunters then kill him and dont talk to the soul that appears from him go outside there will be other soul of hircine whatever then take ring and go inside the cave you'll get both please like
Yes the black star is op but in order to get Daedra achievement you need Azura's star
Actually you don't
Yeah the only one that doesn't count to it is the axe right?
I can't finish the video cause I'm tired of people not actually playing the game and making a list off of stuff they have read. This game has been out for more than a decade. Azura's star does not hold infinite souls just one. It just does not break when used. The black star is all around better as an item but some people don't want to make azura mad which is fine stop telling people they are dumb for playing their character how they want.
I've seen more than one comment taking that at face value too.. just straight up misinformation because of a lack of research. The whole Azura's Star segment is just lifted entirely from a video this dude made two years ago, and people corrected him THEN as well. He couldn't even be bothered to correct himself!
black star is even great at the early game. Bandits are a reliable source of refilling it and why not use a few bandits to level your enchanting?
