“Is that a caller for deer or something?” Nope! You see a deer caller in Bambi II and it’s like 20x more terrifying. It sounds like his mother, but… not exactly. It’s this slightly wrong sounding call of ‘Come here! It’s me!’ And it’s INCREDIBLY unsettling.
Bambi is like 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's slower paced than most theatrical films. But it's such an artistic achievement, if you approach it with that mindset it's just beautiful.
Fun Fact the actress who did the voice of young Faline also played the part of Bonnie the daughter of Rhett Butler and Scarlet O’Hara in the 1939 movie Gone With The Wind.
Funnily enough the book "Bambi" did have a sequel called "Bambi's Children" that was about the twins growing up. But the Disney Bambi II film (made many decades later) is actually a midquel set during the time jump.
13:14 It's becouse Flower is queer coded. Yes, it's not a theory, it is canon. Disney struggles with the issue now our days, announcing queer characters that turn out to be terribly made when, actually, their first canon, openly queer character was none other than Flower, all the way in 1942! Don't be shocked about it, believe it or not there have allways been queer people and they did take part in stuff like movies and media. Aparently they were even trendy in the 20s First of all, Flower is not their real name, it's a nickname they use becouse they just like being called that way. They are afeminated but later on their child calls them daddy. Even the fact that they are a skunk, but when Thumper is about to explain it they stop him could insinuate trans coding. These are all queer steriotipes that were used to code characters in movies. Yes, this is an animated skunk, but we are telling a story for humans, how do we explain that Bambi had a friend who happened to be queer? oh, he's a guy but he's afeminated and uses a girly nickname. It's not rocket science. To top it all off this movie treated them better than most posterior movies and shows, with Flower being included without a second thought and treated like a completly normal character who's one of the protagonist's best friends, despite them being a little diferent: they hibernate while everyone else is out having fun, wich Bamby and Thumper don't understand but is normal for creatures like them, and the owl thinks for a moment before basically saying 'Yeah. You could fall in love too' At the end of the movie, we see Flower named their son Bambi. This is not a ridiculicing joke, it's endearing, it's like a recognicement to the impact the protagonist had in other's lives, indicating (without much thought, without making a big deal about it) that Flower's recognicement and admiration has credit. Walt Disney drags their feet nowourdays, pretending that queerness is a strange and risky new thing when all the way in 1942, in one of their most beloved classics, they were openly saying 'yeah, queer people can be loved too'
My favorite movie from the 1940s, also 3 new movies I highly reccomend you watch are Monsters Inc. (2001), Lost & Found (1999) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) 😄💕🎥🤞🏻. Also hi I'm Julie your latest subscriber 👋🏻

Bambi 2 isn't about his children. It picks up after mom dies and shows his life with his father.
That made me feel cheated. Cause I wanted to see a direct sequel to Bambi
@@isaiahadams1996 You should read Felix Salten's 1939 novel,"Bambi's Children."
