Ok...now let me tell you how i happened to get to now my husband... I was sitting on the stairs in front of my introduction to ancient greek Archaeology at University of Köln, my very first year, and there was a student sitting in front of me, studying his hand written vocabulary cards, and they we're written in greek language, which i knew because some year ago i visited Greece, was very impressed by culture and people, and wanted to return to Greece but next time being able to at least have some small talk with Greeks which back then did not speak very well English. So i asked the Student sitting in fromt of me If he was learning Greek and he toled me that he was learning ancient Greek because he neded it for his studies of Ancient History. So i toled him i was planning to learn modern Greek language, so he informed me that there were Modern Greek lessons at university starting soon and that he could tell me were and when if i liked. So we started to learn Greek together. Him because he was planning to study abroad in Thessaloniki because one of his Ancient Greek History Professors came from Thessaloniki University in Greece. Me because i wanted to learn modern Greek language for travelling. And for First time i had a real good language teacher who insisted in not letting us learn one single word of modern Greek as long as everybody did not spell everything perfectly. So we went through his university level modern Greek bootcamp like for 3 weeks and some students even dropped the lessons because he was so insisting on the perfect spelling. All this came us handy because one year later my friend did part to University of Thessaloniki to study there for one year and i stayed for 1/2 a year, noticed that my modern greek was not good enough to attend the Greek Archaeology lessons, went to the Glotology /Philology department and asked if they would let me visit the lessons for Italian language and culture and they allowed it. So i kame back from Greece speaking perfect Italian because all Professors at Italian Philology Department were Italian mother tongh speakers and all Greek costudents spoke Italian quite well 😅
