    1. Watch Mike's videos.
    2. Plan next birding trip.
    3. Realise I haven't done a years planning like he has.
    4. Get back and admire my (not quite so good) photos.
    Great video, as usual. Thanks.

Great footage, so majestic. 4 flew over me yesterday just before landing and it felt like 4 dinosaur's soaring above my head ❤️

    Stunning Mike !
Sadly, here in South Africa. You are most likely to be killed for your camera equipment 😈 lucky we have the Kruger National park, which is safe.

Nice video, Mike. I enjoy watching and photographing great blue herons two or three times a week. They are always interesting. Sometimes they just stand humped up in the cold, and sometimes they are wading and fishing. I got a series of stills (I don't do video) of one killing and swallowing a snake a month or so back. I got a picture of one landing on a limb in the water during a snow storm. I post them on FB and move on to the next subject.

Great video, as usual. I find herons to be very photogenic and they never look the same. Sometimes slick and well groomed, sometimes like an 80's punk rocker with a mohawk 😂
I'm fortunate enough to have at least 3 resident ones in my local park, so they are always there for me to capture, sometimes fishing, sometimes catching insects.
I managed to get a shot of one with a couple of dragonflies that made me really happy! (here if you want to check it out)

I was in a hide at Canterbury Stodmarsh reserve and an Egret caught an eel and I watched as the eel tried desperately not to be eaten but… eventually the Egret won the battle photographed by the other people in the hide. It really was a battle.

Just found your channel Mike. Your images are outstanding. I love BIF and have a few good heron shots but where I live in Yorkshire they are few and far between. I have been hunting for a location within fay 60 miles of me but so far had no joy. My local nature reserve has one but I can often go and spend hours without seeing it. Keep up the good work. Cheers

I was expecting a screen full of comments from the worlds losers about feeding birds. Thankfully 99.9% of the comments are complimentary. Always one though.

    Is this still wildlife?
I mean sure it is because the animals are free. But feeding them for the perfect photo, I dont think that this is what a wildlife photographer should do... Captering the wildlife how it is without feeding them and getting nearly the same photo, thats real wildlifephotography for me.
