Yor is based on a 1974 fantasy adventure comic from Argentina. From what I understand, the movie doesn't stray that far from the source material. If that's the case, I demand the comic be imported! Just so I can see an illustration of a man hang gliding with a dead prehistoric bat!
I demand to own the American version of the movie. In the German version they don't play the song during the hang gliding scene.
I would genuinely love to see that original comic translated.
I have a friend from Argentina who had read the comic, according to him Yor the Hunter was set in the past and the futuristic city was Atlantis which was the remnants of an advanced civilization that destroyed itself with nuclear weapons.
The film only covers about a third of the comic's story arc. The film is a recut of a miniseries that was about 3 times as long.
The plan was to release Hunter From The Future first, then use that money to produce two more miniseries. Unfortunately, that proved too expensive and we never got to see what Yor got up to afterwards.
Many think the film is just a Conan ripoff, but the original Conan stories were the inspiration for both films.
Also, Hunter From The Future was in production before Conan: The Barbarian was released.
Good news! The Yor comic is being brought over to the west by Antarctic Press!

YOR had it all - Cavemen, Dinosaurs, Hi-Tech base run by over the top cartoonish villain, rocket ship and LASERS !! And a killer theme song .... God, I loved the 80s...
An underrated classic right up there with KRULL.
I was always wondering about the flying saucers on the cover. He never encounters aliens in the movie. The final showdown takes place in a futuristic setting. But then it hit me from out of the blue. The UFOs were a sign for what was to come in the sequel, where aliens discover the power of Reb Browns screaming.
My first day of high school, I walked in with a boombox playing this song.
By the end of first period, the principal had given me my diploma and ceded his position to me.

I watched this movie once when I was like 6 or 7. The only thing I remembered about this movie was him diving off a cliff while hearing "YOR THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE." I was so young I made up my own words to the rest. As funny as those words were I found myself LMAO listening to the actual words. Come on "YOR'S WORLD! HE'S THE MAAANN!" Thanks for this.

This was actually a series of episodes, but when it came to the states, they pulled a Sandy Frank on it, and took bits from each episode and patched em together into a single film length . THIS is why it's hard to make sense of it.
I want to see the entire series, as it was meant to be.

I figure Netflix or Amazon or premium cable channels should finance the remaking of "Yor: The Hunter From the Future." The production value of the first one wasn't great, but it had this, in my opinion:
1. Interesting sci-fi twist on the Barbarian flicks of the day
2. Decent lyrics with this title song -- How many Barbarian flicks do you know that have such a decent opener, lyric-
wise?
3. Dude rocks that giant-bat. Where-else have you seen that? Nowhere, that's where.
Cheap intellectual property to buy, probably. Shoot it for 5-10 million, work in some solid CGI. Hell, make a series out of it.

Only Europeans will remember this but these guys created the Dogtanian and 3 Musketeers cartoon theme from the 80s that was translated in various language but with their instrumental.
In Polish version backing track was changed to classical piano so its sounded less crappy.

I like this song, sure! BUT I think Metal would of been a better approach! Still, Yor is from the future, so they went for new wave. I bet, there is a Metal band out there who were inspired by this bad movie gem, and made a song. The intro of this theme, sounds like Queen and surprised me when it dropped momentum, to soft dance...being an "action" film.
