Song at 25:05 is Pretty Polly. Not sure who is singing that version, but Vandaveer has a version of it that is good. Ralph Stanley wrote and performed that one first I do believe.
I haven't been fishing for some years, but I recently got the bug (< with corona going on, there's not much else to do....;- ), so I have been lurking around TH-cam to get some inspiration, and have just watched this whole series, good work, definitely worthwhile watching....!!! Any way, a lot of the fish You Guys catch seem to get some rough scars, some "only" to the scales, but others meat deep. "Only" is put in quotations-marks, because the fish loose a lot of stealth when the scales are damaged, for instance, thát nice fish that You caught at 20:28, You could just as well have brought it home to be eaten, it will not live long, as it is way too visible to predators with thát white streak down the side. Any way (and this is what I want to get at, I'm not here for the bashing, I just had this thought and want to pass it on >>>), I think that most of the damages happen because they are fought very hard, that they are cut by the line when they roll around themselves, so maybe try to let even small fish get some line, and when the whole flyline is out, loosen the brake according to size. - This way they will probably roll less, like they will be tired when they are to be netted, come in front first, so to speak, not tail first (< which a lot of the fish You Guys caught did...). - I don't know, but it may do the trick, and if it work, please spread the word....;- ) EDIT, I just saw this one (FLY TV - Rainbow Trout Fly Fishing in small lakes), and he mostly caught larger fish that had to be fought conventionally, ie. it take line out and will have to be fought by the combination of wheel(brake) and rod, and these fish are not damaged at all.... - So IT IS probably generally a good idea to let even small/smallish fish take the fly line out, and then reel it in nice and easy, when the fish have had enough. - This way they just get some exercise, not battle damage....;- )
I like the idea of the conservation you guys are doing. In turn this will probably take some pressure off of the wild stocks of Atlantic, yes? Has anyone noted the population balance of the two new farm fish, making sure they don't overtake one another?
i plan to go to stockholm in april 2018 and i want to fly fish the archipelago from the shore looking for small fish on a 4 weight 6lb tippet any fly recommendations please?
Sometimes. The articulated flies are working good in streams when the water gives the fly more movement. On the coast we fish single hook flies 99% of the time.
kanalgratisdotse actually there are striped bass in the area lakes, and they will soon begin to come up to the surface in pursuit of the shad. Locals eagerly await this behavior known as "boiling" because the water looks like it's doing just that. Way too hot for me though unless I'm off the water by noon or so. There's also plenty of fine trout water within half a day's drive and much cooler temps up the higher elevations, so I take as many trips as I can in the this time of year. Anyway, I just discovered your channel and enjoyed the episode. It's really cool to have such wonderful fishing opportunities near urban areas, and I've been interested in Scandinavia (and those sea trout!) so who knows, maybe I'll get there some day.
I love this guys. I've been in the STOCKHOLM archipelago many times and wondered what kind of fishing there was. Your films are great! Keep the, coming! Chris from Maine.
Do you ever harvest and eat any of the fish that you catch? I've never seen a Kanalgratisdotse video in which anyone ever said that a particular fish was destined for the dinner table. I believe in selective harvest; especially when a person has the opportunity to catch many more fish than they could ever eat. However, fishing without any intent to harvest - ever - seems almost like harassment to me. If you do enjoy eating an occasional fish, maybe you could show that to your viewership as well, and share a recipe. Great video and I hope to hear back from you.
Many areas of the baltic sea in sweden has a 0 fish per day rule, unless it's a fish with the fin clipped that shows it wasn't born in the wild. At least in northern sweden, I would guess it's the same further south.
Cracking post folks. As usual great footage and tips to boot. Many thanks for posting.
Fantastic videos you've got on your channel. Very nice underwater footage, informative and nice fish!

Man that looks like a fun day. So now I'm stuck inside the house here in Las Vegas (it's 110 outside) dreaming of Sweden...
+rakovegas to be honest, it's not cold in Sweden now 🔥 isn't there any fish that is active now, or is it too warm??
