Yes, I have some clips that I filmed when I was creating the charge/discharge station. I plan on putting the clips together and using it for one of my posts. Stay tuned. :-) Thanks for watching. Frank
all the laptop batteries i have ever taken apart have had the cells hold together :/ strange. All the way back to my first tear down in 2007. My ebike battery too. Those ebay cells from alarm hookup should have disclosed that the wrap would likely fall off if you dismantled them exactly as their description suggested. Either way, videos like this help others to be prepared. Thanks for posting it!
VERY nice work and satisfies my OCD lol.. hopefully when I find a good source of 18650s I will be doing the same thing. Want to build a small solar generator at first then when I get a house build my own power wall. Thanks for the vid!
Todd thanks for watching. I have a friend who has a few hundred new cell that he needs to sell. Email me (Frank@TheDIYengineer.com) If you want more information. Frank
I have built 12V 100Ah lithium ion battery pack to replace the existing 12V 100Ah lead acid battery for inverter. After somedays the battery failed to work. What are the steps to be taken to avoid such failures?
if they are in series. the neg. of one is more pos. than the one before it. it can cause a short. and most of the time its in your house! and could burn it down. or even just a fire! either way. it can be prevented! love the labels and the clear shrink wrap! and I subbed!
Thanks for watching and your comment. I'm not sure I understand your concern. But I would be interested in setting up an experiment to test your concern.
Frank Brand like if a pack is in series. and a screw or nail. fell between them with the cells unwrapped. it can short them . because the neg is the pos of the one before it. my house burnt down last year. it wasn't anything I did or didn't do. but it has given me a phobia. now I have a off grid place I'm trying to move in to. I need more battery and get panels up. and a few other things. worries of fire hazards I admit slow things a bit. great video.
+James stranger I'm sorry to hear about your house. A tragedy such as yours would make anyone very cautious. Good luck on your new place. Thanks for watching.
I like you avatar logo. One of the projects I want to do in the future is to build a DIY RV trailer with solar and 18650 batteries. Thanks for watching.
I reskin my cells also. Takes a little more time but makes it easier to change out bad cells when you need to. Looks better too.
Really like the custom labels you made
+TC DIXON thanks
you have a design guide for the charging/discharging station?

Do you buy the 25M roll of heat shrink? If so what length do you cut the shrink wrap to for each cell?

Agreed.
All 18650 cells (ebikes, laptops, powertool batteries, etc.) are connected, usually via pure nickel strips that are spot welded to each cell!
Could you also suggest what type of 18650 tube gasket used and where you have bought these
+Chris Groothoff good point. I reuse the original gasket and I have also reused gaskets from cells that are dead. I hope that helps.

Glad you found it. Thanks for watching.

I had issues with my small battery pack so I started adding BMS's to help prevent over discharge issues.

That exactly what I’m doing this spring. Tiny trailer 900watts Solar 24 v. About to start my very first 7s pack. Still trying to find cells.
Keep me posted on your progress. Frank
weird, just showing a black screen.. can hear you
+bcmasur are you still having issues?
better now, I reset settings in chrome
