I windsurfed five times for Namibia in the mid eightys! Thats where I met Axel Ohm,Bjoern Dunkerbeck,Angula and many more! never to be forgotten! It all started in Windhoek, than Walfishbay, than Luederitz! Hapy Days. And We financed everything on ouer own!
Reminds me of sailing at Shallow Inlet in Sandy Point in Victoria, Australia in 40 knots plus South Westerly so close to the shore you could almost drag your hand along the sand
Really enjoyed this, especially your reflections on how it feels as a newbie going down the canal. And your first run took me back to the eighties when Maka held the record of 38.86, unbelievably fast and forever burned into my brain - and which you almost matched on your first test down the canal.
Love the slow mo footage ! It is fantastic that you make these inside story videos, one could imagine how it must be over there. The Luderitz canal is a total dedication to speedsurfing, and I Iove it ! Keep up the good work, and I pray for more wind the next days !
I would just like to let every one now that the best way support Nils youtube channel (and Nico and Bens) is to let the adverts play fully. Clicking "skip add" reduces the money paid to these guys. If like me, you love watching anything speed or slalom related, just watch the adverts, it helps them and turn helps us. Nils: On a no wind day, a video for the extra tuning teaks you and Dirk did would be really interesting. I'm guessing Luderitz setting are very different to settings for speed spots like West Kirby, La Palme, Buesum or Grevelingenmeer?
This is a great insight to the canal and how to sail it. Looking forward to seeing some more. You are clocking some good speed!! Thank you for filming the action!! Good luck on the next runs!!
Well, I have minimal interest in speed or slalom and again you managed to get me to watch and ENJOY this just like your last one. Really interesting and some wicked camera angles. Looks like Wednesday will have some wind, safe sailing.
Great video Nils.
All you do is great! ..just keep on... Presenting the channel and others in way you do-great! Also show of real time speed is great! Which GPS is used? Motion? Something else? 20 Hz? Please say more about that... Also, will GPS track ever be downloadable for us...somewhere? Ka72 etc...
I felt quite sorry for you and Wind Lounge as your sponsorship message was completely interrupted by a TH-cam ad! Fortunately I cannot remember who the other advertiser was!!
Nice Video, like always ✌️ Just a question: what are the key differences between a speed board and a small wave board, and could one use small wave boards for speed surfing?
Mainly that a waveboard has a lot more rocker. And it doesn't really work well for speed. I'd rather use a small slalom board if you don't want to use a dedicated speedboard.
Amazing footage that Canal is fascinating and damn right Scary.. your talking to much, not enough footage, some great angles of those speed boards getting on the plane.. looked amazing

does the spot still work?
@@WindsurfingNilsNot sure haven’t sailed there in ages last I looked the sand dunes where being over grown so the wind might not be as smooth
Would you share your new knowledge about trimming the P7 sails?😁
Just keep the camera rolling when Dirk gives a clinic :)
There's actually a trim tutorial for P7 sails on the P7 channel :)
Really enjoyed this, especially your reflections on how it feels as a newbie going down the canal. And your first run took me back to the eighties when Maka held the record of 38.86, unbelievably fast and forever burned into my brain - and which you almost matched on your first test down the canal.
What a lovely character - so easy to watch and listen to!
thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
WOW!! What a dream to sail that channel!! You are living the dream!! 👏👏🚀🚀💪💪
for sure!
Was für ein Stress, um uns mit coolen Videos zu versorgen, aber danke schön für deine Mühe
sehr gerne :)

Great job filming and sailing. I could see your excitement before the first run, so cool! Congrats!
Yes, please, share your knowledge about trimming sails for speed.

Alter geil!!!
let's go!!!
Geilo Nils!!!
I felt quite sorry for you and Wind Lounge as your sponsorship message was completely interrupted by a TH-cam ad! Fortunately I cannot remember who the other advertiser was!!
So what was the trim on the sail?
Hi Nils,
crash because it is too
shallow : OMG it's frightenning
I thought you lost it when I saw you surfing without a helmet in your FIRST run. Why take the risk? By the way great vid. Keep it going.
there's lots of arguments here on whether the helmet adds or takes away safety, however when the wind picks up I do wear a helmet!
That lycra costs a lot in aero drag...
probably yes...
Nice Video, like always ✌️ Just a question: what are the key differences between a speed board and a small wave board, and could one use small wave boards for speed surfing?
Mainly that a waveboard has a lot more rocker. And it doesn't really work well for speed. I'd rather use a small slalom board if you don't want to use a dedicated speedboard.
also bootstraps are further out on the rail so you can put a lot more pressure on the rail...
Amazing footage that Canal is fascinating and damn right Scary.. your talking to much, not enough footage, some great angles of those speed boards getting on the plane.. looked amazing
hard to get enough footage when you're sailing yourself and want to do the best you can, but I try...
@@WindsurfingNils can't fault what you do and as for the Canal WOW!
Great video, but please use your helmet
I got similarly worried on your first run!!
I support the motion that Nils wear a helmet while speeding
