I’ve been windsurfing for a long time and have seen many sail rigging videos . I almost passed this one up because I didn’t know what I could still learn. Well, I was very wrong. This is by far the best sail rigging video I’ve ever seen. I really appreciate you explaining not only how to make adjustments but what they are actually doing to the sail and how to check that the adjustments were done properly. Very well done!
Exceptional, thank you. Very clear and complete, especially the battens. I can say its the best Ive seen because at last I now fully understand air flow so can apply to my sails.
Same here. Very complete instead of a seperate vid for battens, downhaul etc etc. Just ONE full clear explanation. Cool.
Handy advices. I knew most of them, but seeing them gathered together is nice. Thank you Nils.
Like someone else said. Best rigging video I’ve seen.
thanks!
WOW!! Best ever vídeo about sails rigging and tuning!!! Thanks!!
Wow, what a great video!
Have never before seen any sail tuning video with this level of detail.
So many questions finally answered. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom :)
Grüße aus dem Sauerland
grüße zurück ins sauerland :)
Excellent detail of the fundamentals of windsurf sail downhaul and batten tension. Thank you.
Best rigging video ever, well done 👍
Hey Margo, we were in Püünsi today. It was great but water is already 10 degrees 🥶
Very usefull video! Thanks!
What a wealth of information! Thanks a lot... will need to check all my battons now unfortunately 😂
Zero tension! Wieder was gelernt.
Thank for the tutorial,i think that there is something to learn always, above all into our so technical sport.
big thanks for Nils i was met him in Hvide Sande and he help me with sail tuning
Hi!
Exzellent and exzeptionell Nils!
Great Video Nils, thanks so much. I will post and use it with my clients. Thanks again!
Great explenation Nils, will try some Things of that 🤙🏼
absolute perfect. I've learned a lot!! Many thanks
brilliant, my go to rigging vid, After 10+ years I now understand what I'm supposed to do with baten tension
glad it helps :)
This was EXCELLENT content. I really adore❤ the way you are explaining these subjects.
I’ve got two questions for you: 1) If you are in the mood, would you please explain in detail how to properly rail a slalom board to make it ride as loose as possible (without loosing control). 2) I noted (@19;29) you have the point 7 F1 variable harness lines (which are great (!) by the way), but you have two “clamp cleats” instead of the regular one sided. Any reasons for that?
BIG thanks for putting all the effort into making these videos, really appreciated!🤙🙌
1) i have a video on how to rail a board, just look at my channel
2) the double cleat F1 Pro lines have twice the range so one line for both fin and foil
Thanks Nils, I’ve never looked at batten tension, but will take a key and set them properly next time.
Excellent video 👍🏼
thank you!
Wonderful explanation, thx
Excellent video Nils
Thank you Nils. I found here many answers to some questions I have since a long time.
glad that there is some useful information for you :)
I didn’t want to check another sail rigging video. But I’m glad I did. It was very insightful thank you !
glad to hear it :)
Viel Danke Nils👍👍👍 Excellent❤
very intersting. never see some information before. many thanks
Loved the little illustrations you added :D great tutorial in a lovely setting ;)
thanks :)
Thanks Nils!
Perfect Nils.
Hello I'm happy now that this is out
Really informative video! I have learnt some new things today. I have been like many windsurfers setting up the sail by feel and not really fully understanding how to properly set up the sail. Btw, this is the first time I've seen thatched cottages in Germany.
this was filmed in denmark ;) but there are also some thatched cottages in northern germany ;)
When I was pulling the sail like that with the trapeze hook, I broke the hook. ))
It is better to pull not with a hook, but with a hook bar.. ))
great video
thank you!
Great video thx
Thanks!
Nils, what a great informative video. Unfortunately I’ll need to go and check all my sails now for correct batten tension! Also good to see a full explanation on how to achieve correct downhaul setting. Does the same principle (downhaul and battens) hold true for foil sails?
basically yes, batten 5 can have a little more tension so the sail only starts to really open from there
Super interesting for tuning my ac1 sails, Andrea, already tune personally my 5.0, but I did not understand all he say me😭😭
hope this video helps a bit with understanding the basics ;)
Good info.. But I wish you had more info about tuning cambersail 😉
Good video. Be good to get tuning advice for dedicated foil sails too.
i might do a second one for the foil specifics
Hilft mir, Danke!
Vielen dank Nils! Very informative, especially about the batten tention. There where you talk about zero tension on the battens from batten 2, 3, 4, 5. Does this counts for every camber sail? Or just for your Point-7 sails? And I didn'y understand correctly batten no 7. Do you mean, no natural S shape there?
Again vielen dank, from the Netherland!
batten 7 has more tension so it's not really s shaped, yes the basic principles apply to all foil sails.
Thanks Nils. Awesome sharing. May i know how to add the spacer in the camber sails, or can we adjust the batten tension to make the camber stiff?
just take the camber off and put the spacer on the end of the batten, batten tension and adding spacers is not the same ;)
a very good video. Thanks Nils, Wigand von vogelandfriends
Very nice explaining ... Top Video!!! Next time beat Gunni
that'll be difficult haha
Moin Nils 🚀🚀🚀
Moin Thomas
Can you please help me out a bit? Yesterday I tried out the tuning tips and went out with my cambered 8.5 freerace sail. In the very strong gusts (~45 kmh) I felt that the sail wanted to open on its own and needed a lot of backhand force to keep it closed. Does this indicate a rigging / tuning mistake or harness line / stance problems? Thanks very much!
No foil sail explanation :O?
