Love how you are humble with your high end gear and bring it home for many. This video is for me as I'm trying to figure out what rack to buy and how to set it up so my gear blends well
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude always a pleasure you explain so well always help. And 99% of the timw you answer my questions so refreshing to have a youtuber engaged this much. Racks seem easy but they are far from and always over looked
It's starting to look awesome, your screen looks so much bigger in the new space. I'm in the process of buying 2 x 42RU and joining them together as one double space rack. I tried all the options of trying to cram everything into one rack and when I decided on buying 2 floor to ceiling racks and joining them together it solved all my equipment needs and stopped me from buying multi channel amps just for space saving. This way I can have 7 matching stereo amps which was always my long term goal. I'm still learning how to do blanking plates and set up stuff and design.
I know this is an old video but I just want to thank you for all your hardwork in providing content for us. I especially want to thank you for the Visual Paradigm link. I just bought a 32U Penn Elcom rack and I had previously built my rack configuration using Excel but this was much easier and visual. Thanks again.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m in the process to start my av system and I was very intimidated about it but you make if very easy to understand and I will embrace the task and build my system.Thank you again for the awesome video.
That Home Theater Dude any advice on what rear surround speakers to use for my setup? My rear wall is open to the next room but I have a bulkhead that runs across that drops down 10”.
God bless you and your entire family... you inspire me and I love everything that you’re doing. Keep it up and God will continue to enrich your wisdom knowledge and understanding .
Hahahaha Chris you crack me up. Everyone has an opinion. When it's your house/stuff your opinion is the only one that counts! Excited to see the finished product.
That is one helluva rack!!! It has been great to watch all the progress. I really appreciate your sharing this journey ❤ Bottom up seems like a simple concept but such great advice that many people would miss. I like the insert of future you into the video. You have really been thinking about your subscribers to make sure they don't make mistakes. Very kind of you.
Dude, I am so happy for you with everything you have for your enjoyment. Keep the videos coming. By the way you know what you should do is...lol. Seriously people look for this kind of content.
Looking good. I always enjoy seeing home theater builds. One thing, you could gain 1, 2, or maybe even 3RU of space by making sure your equipment ears line up with the lines on the sides. Reason, the screw holes are not evenly spaced. Only the three holes within each RU are. For example, the bottom of the rack ears of the UPS are between the lines, when it should set right on the lines. This will make screwing the equipment in a lot easier as well and not feel like you're having to force it. This is going to be awesome when you're done! Great job!
if i did that they i wouldnt be able to use the punch out holes on the bottom. it would be a nightmare to wire this system. Everything here is done for a purpose
I appreciate your honesty about losing the footage and with ordering the wrong rack filler plates. I replaced some smaller speakers with larger ones on the wall a couple of weeks ago and I forgot to attach the speaker cables. Had to take the speaker off the wall completely again to attach the speaker cables. We all have made errors on this home theater journey. I truly appreciate your showing us the missteps along the way.
Really impressive Chris the way you evolved from a "passionate standard home cinema guy" into an almost professional sound engineer (no offence, it's my way to describe the thing). Excellent choices and explanations. Thanks for all those details. Good luck for the remaining job in this room. Looking forward to hearing your feedback when all will be properly setup !! Christophe
I love all your videos they really helped me climb down the rabbit hole just curious what you did for sound deadening for the room if it was built acoustically sound. That is my biggest fear when I actually get around to building my room I'm still buying all the pieces
room acoustics are being taken care of in a later video. The other half of the wall will be treated with "sound proofing" insulation dinyl and green sealant plus another layer of drywall.
I think I'm just going to be going overboard when I do my basement doing Mass loaded vinyl two layers of drywall and then probably soundboard I want to make sure I can enjoy the movies without disturbing the wife or kids
HTD do you plug all equipment to 20a circuit breaker or 2 separate 15a? I only have single 15a circuit hook up plus 2 svs pb4000. Do you think i need hire some one do 2 separate 20a. Or at least 2 separate 15a?
You, sir, have a nice rack! lol very cool you have a new space to make things how you'd like. That is going to be sick when it's all done... We'll be in the same boat next year, planning on moving so I'll be able to start all over again!

That Home Theater Dude Thanks Chris. So would you recommend it? I knows it’s pricey. I currently using the Sony Z9F 75” on a 14’.4” wall width and 22:5 length. I’m looking at 110 SI 2.40.1 with either Sony 695es/715es or the JVC you have. So Thanks for you informative videos.
Do the Parasound amps require a Shelf or they just mount with their own rack ears? Great to see you build the rack, inspiring to someone hoping to do the same thing.
15 channels. parasound a 51 for big towers and and center. the parasound a52+ for the surrounds and front wides. the arcam p1000 for the atmos speakers.
Sorry what is the total electrical amperage. Trying to get an idea of how many circuits to run. I’m kind of planning the same set up you have but less speaker a 7.2.6 setup
Awesome man... People think my home theater is nuts but I tell people man this is just a baby compared to the stuff people have online. Mine is so entry level in comparison to something like this... Im running a 5.2.4 set up with a Pioneer VSX-LX504(its a solid AVR nothing crazy)... My next purchase are a mini DSP HD to really dial in my HSU ULS 15 MK2s(love these subs). Then some external amps to power the extra channels available on my AVR with another set of speakers so I can have 7.2.4. I have budget speakers the Pioneer AJ's they sound awesome for what they are, again nothing on this level but they surprised my buddy who has B&W Cm10s. I have one advantage to most people, and that is my room is my basement. It was finished by the previous owner its Owens corning basement finishing system, the walls are not dry wall but instead fabric backed by acoustic fiberglass. The room is completely dead, and the clarity it provides when listening to music and movies is astounding. My system sounds like its in a recording studio, its amazing how many people ignore the importance of acoustical treatment but drop 10s of thousands on crazy system that sounds like mud from all the room bounce. I have a saying your speakers can only be as good as your room, a great room can make budget speakers sound like 1000s bucks, a bad room can make audiophile grade speakers sound like 10 dollars. Ive seen your acoustic treatments, you totally get this concept.
Im sure your system is the bees knees my man. We all use what we like. Who knows if ill keep doing this forever. Im just having fun with the system while I can :)
That Home Theater Dude there’s always something to add! I doubt you will get bored haha! That’s what I love about this hobby, I think the next big upgrade(for home theater) is getting the actual master audio Dolby track the Dolby theaters have... UHD space limits objects to only 15 objects(not channels), even thought Dolby Atmos in the home supports up to 64 objects were not getting that now. The theater supports 128 objects... while Dolby Atmos can and does sound amazing for many movies, some movies are down mixed poorly from the theatrical mix... the rise of sky walker comes to mind specifically the scene with the voices, in the theater they were circling all around and above.... whoever Disney hired to down mix this seemed lazy because all the voices are now mainly up front. Overall audio was good, but could of been much better if they put more time in. I think eliminating having it essentially remixed again would improve home audio immensely. Some movies though blow my mind with how well the audio translates to the home theater doctor sleep was incredible, same with Ford Vs Ferrari. I would love for them to allow us to just download the master audio and video to a hard drive... eventually streaming will take over but the bandwidth isn’t quite there yet.
I like what you did with adding the wall between the staircase and your bat cave. Did you do anything extra for sound proofing in that room? Nice work man! Awesome seeing this plan come together.

Thanks for all that you do, you're channel reignited my passion for audio.
