i love your honesty! i've also been struggling lately with having high expectations and then being disappointed by my own imagination lol i think a lot of people go through this tho! i doubt anyone's life is exciting all the time, social media can be pretty deceiving. good luck with the rest of your internship ^^

thank you for opening up about this! i had the same experience last summer when i saw everyone else around me have so much fun while i was alone at home, scared to call or text my friends to meet up. eventhough feeling lonely is not fun (probably the worst feeling ever in my opinion) it will get better! personally i’ve learned so much from last summer and am now really enjoying these hot months! i really wish the same for you
aw i'm sorry you had to go through all this! summer can be so tricky bc of this extra added pressure to "make the most" out of it etc etc but i think the pressure only makes it harder to enjoy summer??

this happened to me when i started my 9-5 internship 1.5 years ago. i was so overwhelmed that after work i just ate, consumed media and slept (while also maintaining full time university masters degree).
it all gets easier but it always seems like i wake up and its 17 pm already and i havent done anything as myself today (not as a worker).
that's true, it can be sooo hard to motivate urself to do anything beyond the minimum in your spare time it seems like??
i felt this exact same way with my last internship (and it lasted like 5 months), although i was lucky enough to be near friends x i hope the rest of your time in brussels is enjoyable though and that you get to enjoy some weeks of the summer break

Thank you for your honesty ❤ The grass is always greener on the other side, as we often say. I think most of us struggle with high expectations and thinking everyone else is having an amazing time except us! But that is far from reality. We are all in a different seasons of our life and our starting positions are not the same so any kind of comparison doesn't make sense. It's funny how im in the same position. Been too ambitious and set myself too high expectations, but been let down by the reality of life.
I’m sorry to hear Brussels didn’t live up to your expectations.. trust me, not everyone is ‘living their best life’ this summer- I’m currently writing my dissertation and haven’t had a proper holiday since January 🫠 so feeling v much under the weather

tbh brussels during the summer is kind of boring because everybody goes on vacation (or festivals), especially in july lol, also explains why there's so much construction during the summer. Hope it'll get better !
