You took my 2k skills to a whole other level, I started watching you around 2014-2015 when I was 17 and since then, I’ve made it to the GOAT league every year, salute!
I was always a defensive player in high school and what I learned is give the jumper. Because no matter the contest your opp is either making or missing. When you are guarding a driving player he is either getting past you or you are stopping him, then he is either crafty enough to finish or you are smart enough to impede his shot. So stay back a little and give up the jumper. If he does a step back run forward and instantly run back In case he's aiming to drive.
Absolutely, so many bad things happen when the ballhandler gets into the paint, it forces help, then someone is open. Too many bad outcomes. With a jumper, it's make or miss, and you can push the odds in your direction with a good contest. I will always rather give up a jumper than a layup
@@GregS-1981 To add to your point that giving up the jumper makes the most sense, if my teammate slashes and gets the jam, I’ma get a little pumped from that. And it can add up, whether in terms of locking in on defense, gaining momentum in general, demoralizing the opponent, etc. Wiggins in the finals did some damage there on occasion.
Good stuff bro. The defensive assist settings can also determine how fast you're able to react, and how much contact animations you get. From my personal experience, the lower the setting, the more freedom of movement you have. But the less body up animations you'll get. The higher the setting, the less freedom of movement you'll have, but you'll get way more contact animations.

The biggest issue I'm seeing this year on the defensive end, is people pressing up too close. You could get away with pressing up on the ballhandler in 2K22 because of the body up window was much larger and you could bump the offensive player without worrying about them getting by you. In 2K22 the offensive player had to take a wide route around the defender and avoid contact. This year I've noticed that if you are too close to the offensive player, they can blow by.
@@Jerseymad93 have u seen the 2k labs vid on it hof has a like mid 30 percent chance to blow by gold clamps and another like 30 to get a hip ride that's kinda huge.
Defense this year feels really good. I love how vulnerable you are playing defense at times because that’s really how it is in real life. Yes, of course at times there blowbys but to me it always feels like I should’ve been better positioned to stop the drive. So, even in the those moments I love it. When you input the wrong movements with the left stick it punishes you with a stun or wobble, which SHOULD happen. That simulates you getting caught with a good move. People who know how to get open will get open, so getting buckets is actually rewarding! Idk I just feel like it’s really well balanced. The only problem I’m seeing consistently is still the steals. Once they nerf that a little or make it more timing based where you have to steal when the ball is in the air, I feel like it’d be perfect.
Damn, and here I am with 70 steals and I can't grab anything. I can block for days with my 0 block though. I dunno man, I just feel like this game is weird and broken, and that guys like you would love the game regardless of how it played.

I like how you've broken down 2K's mechanics to a science bro. One thing that's still nonsense to me is how 2K thinks this how humans move move laterally 5:36. Like once you've stepped left twice you can't stop that movement even tho the ball handler is no where near you. It doesn't mimic any real sports motion like when you actually play ball on court.
What about that insane animation where your player looks like he got he with a stun grenade when someone passes the ball past you to the person you’re guarding and you’re unable to contest because of it?

If I’m in the rec going against a “comp gaurd” all I do is shut the corners off cause that’s all they wanna do is go to the corners. And the rec is so ass this year no spaces the floor so if they drive middle and blow past me. The big sitting in the paint waiting cause the other big can’t shoot. 🤣🤣
Then again it’s just about your movement with the stick. Gotta know when to hit turbo, when to let go of L2, or when to hold the right stick up (which I do often)
I can't defend against slashers because of the input delay when in The Rec. is this normal? I messaged a few people and they said they don't have delay...
Delay can be due to a few reasons. If you’re playing on a tv with picture settings on that increase response time, or a monitor with faster response times than tv and your internet connection
Can someone help me whenever I’m defending or whenever someone else has the ball and I’m just there trying to move to a better position so I can get a pass I keep getting turn over violation and I don’t know what that is I never played a basketball game before and I have never played basketball before I always been a soccer person so yea I don’t know the basketball rules or anything basketball related

I neeeeded this. Thx 🙏🏾
No problem thanks for watching bro!
Make a defensive video while holding a spam dribbler. That can do both drive and shoot. That would help a lot
That’s part 2
@@Jerseymad93 patiently waiting 💪🏽
The problem I have when ppl not playing defense and I try to help a little to much and my guy gets a 3 because I can't get back fast enough

Thank you this shit is fake as fuck
What about that insane animation where your player looks like he got he with a stun grenade when someone passes the ball past you to the person you’re guarding and you’re unable to contest because of it?
I’m confused on what you’re describing bro I haven’t seen that animation.
@@Jerseymad93 I think it’s a big man animation to nerf them on perimeter close outs. I made a 6’10” PF (like an idiot) and my buddy who runs center experiences it too. I’ll have to do a small upload on my page next time it happens
How do you defend against the pick though?
I know this a late comment but this vid is op
If only there wasn’t so much delay in online, specifically Mt. Because then it becomes Rock Paper Scissors in a lot of situations
I feel you bro it’s an adjustment for sure

[New Subscriber] Thanks for the info. Im on PS5.
Thanks for watching bro!
What about the dudes that got 99 drive and dunk 99 and 99 three, how I defend them with my 70 PD player
70 isn’t enough to stop iso builds. This isn’t like back in the day bro
Great video, thank you
Thank you for watching slothbag!
I like when get better at things I was already good at. It just got darker for my opponents 😈
😭😭😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video brodie
Thank you bro!
What's the intrumental in the background??
This is dope, well made vid. What’s ur call on defensive assist settings?
I play on 50 if I’m playing good positional defense correctly. It won’t pull me in the wrong way
@@Jerseymad93 Thx for replying 🙏
Honestly I’ve played guard for so long on 2k, defense is pretty simple to me.
I’ve played some good defense by just tapping L2 here and there, and holding the right stick up. Pressing turbo here and there too.
It'd be dope to run into you online. I miss playing the game the right way.
Setting up a discord for you guys who support me to find other likeminded gamers bro
How often are you usuing the right stick it is purely just triggers and left stick?
Yeah only time I use the right stick is when I force a pick up animation or I’m closing out
@@Jerseymad93 I've never been the best defender cheers for the tips
I can't defend against slashers because of the input delay when in The Rec. is this normal? I messaged a few people and they said they don't have delay...
Delay can be due to a few reasons. If you’re playing on a tv with picture settings on that increase response time, or a monitor with faster response times than tv and your internet connection
@@Jerseymad93 £350 1msp gaming monitor and 500mbps download speed internet. do you not have delay when playing The Rec? 😭
@@Jerseymad93 also it's only an issue online. I am UK though, maybe our servers suck?
Yeah everyone experiences it from what I’ve heard and played myself, but it’s just another thing to adjust too I suppose
Be playing frm the freethrow and they never shoot it always a drive 😂😂😂😢
Sometimes you don't want to use a trigger and just use Rstick defense
Can someone help me whenever I’m defending or whenever someone else has the ball and I’m just there trying to move to a better position so I can get a pass I keep getting turn over violation and I don’t know what that is I never played a basketball game before and I have never played basketball before I always been a soccer person so yea I don’t know the basketball rules or anything basketball related
All they have go do is step back and the minute you take a step up you get blew by so easily
Bruh I did not know I could use l2+r2 I thought it was one of the other🤦🏾♂️😂
It’s all good bro you aren’t alone mad people didn’t know
how do i guard the stepback off somebody who can consistently shoot 3s and is a good finisher?
Got a video with just park n rev footage in the works that’s going to be part 2 but they all play with a pattern, if you notice that he never shoots after the stepback play the drive but if he does shoot it make him green every last one of those tough jumpers. Play him to one side
@@Jerseymad93 okay thanks for the heads up
Great Video
Thank you prime!
Great vid.
Thank you annointed truth 🙏
What about when the guard speed boost over and over and rock back and forward?
