Excellent video thank you, I am on day 22 with 10 duck eggs, going to Candle today for the last time. I keep reverting to your video as I am getting nervous now. Thank you for providing so much detail 😊
Excellent video very informative thank you. We have 15 chickens and are looking to keep runner ducks as well. I know it’s getting near the end of the season now, but I’d quite like to try hatching some runner duck eggs. I’m going to purchase the incubator shown in the video and want to try 12 eggs. Do you sell and post the eggs we are in north wales so unfortunately nowhere near you. Thanks
Love this video. What temp and humidity should they be at ? Incase I missed that part :-) because you manually turned yours I was reading you can’t keep opening the incubator due to loss of heat and moisture ? :-)
@@CourtFarmChickens makes sense. I see a lot of people online say noooo never lol but what you said makes sense. I bought my isa browns from you nearly 2 years ago and they are doing great still ❤️
@@CourtFarmChickens also if the chicken is out of the shell and it’s been over 30 hours can you cut the cord near the shell bit and not the bit near the duckling ?
@@CourtFarmChickens thank you. He has survived another night. He’s abit wobbly on he’s feet but I’ve put some plasters to keep he’s feet open and so he can balance. I got chick crumb I am grinding into a powder with some water and egg cooked yolk. I read brewers yeast is very good to add. Do you recommend anything to help give him a good boost ? :-)
Got a question for you if you can answer it sure would appreciate it the hatching pad you put in there the circle is it made of cardboard or is it made of cloth material? Thanks.
Hi just to ask i got a egg incubator when do the air vents get opened do the vents get opened only on lock down day. Or do the vents need to be half open throughout the whole processes.
@alesharobinson8461 air vents can be open and shut to help with temperature and humidity management. When and if to to use them all depends on your location and environment.
I’m on day 14, all is going well so far…..except since watching your fantastic video I have since realised that circular piece of cardboard that I put in the bin weeks ago wasn’t just packaging😬.. do you think it’s vital? I have the mini so there are only 5 eggs. :)
They do take longer than chick's to hatch, could be around the 27 day mark. They absorb the yolk sack the same as chick's so are OK for a few days. You may need to show them how to eat, ducks are not as smart as chick's.
Hello few questions.. I started incubating ducks today, did u monitor the humidity is it really necessary to monitor it ? Secondly my brinsea mini has no outside reservoir how do I fill the water during lock down? And one more question do I HAVE to mist the eggs once a day from 10 days onwards as I saw you didn't and wondered if this was also necessary? Thank you
Hiya, if you have an older model with no outside reservoir then try to fill it right to the top and only open to refill if it goes dry. I do not monitor the humidity at all, just the water level and never had an issue. I'll be honest, never heard of 'misting' the eggs so no, never done that.
Hi I am all new to this and just stated runner duck eggs I bought a brinsea octagon eco what day do I stop the turning of eggs also do rules apply same for me as I have diffremt incubator thanks 🙏 👍
Hi there I am having trouble with my incubator it is the exact same one as yours, only 6 out of 24 hatched not sure why also the eggs hatched a few days late
Love that you have a white duck in there! Thank you for your video.

Comprehensive video, good job.
Excellent video! What a fantastic hatch rate! Bravo!
Detailed video, thank you 😊

Please let me know where I can purchase some good fertilize duck eggs. Thank you
You dont do a cool down once a day after ten days? My brinsea has a cooling setting. Great video
@user-db1st8dw4d No, it isn't an option on these models. Thank you for your kind comment
Thank you for this. I am incubating my first duck eggs. We are on day 26.
Did they all hatch? Just started incubating my first duck eggs today
@@michelleprice3010 they all hatched. Every one survived.

These incubators automatically control heat and moisture, you can open them, no different than a mother leaving the nest to eat and drink

@yusuufibrahim530 yes it will be fine to detach at the egg end, the rest should dry up and fall off

Hiya, it's a thin corrugated cardboard, a cloth alternative would work just as well I'd imagine.
I use the drawer liner cut into circle for chicks so they don’t slide everywhere

Awesome. If you don't candle, how long til a non-viable egg will explode? Because I'd be tempted to just skip that step...
A week, maybe 2. Once you've had it happen once, you'll never risk it again 🤣
have you heard of a device called aa sprayer?

It just helps the chick's get a bit of grip, they'll be fine without it 😊
So when the pip is it the same time as chicks, or do they take longer currently incubating pekin duck eggs
Also do they not need food after hatching same as chicks?

Unless it's an automated one then rules will basically be the same, stop turning the eggs a couple of days before they're due
I seen a couple of videos and dry hatching a higher birthrate.
Can you put goose eggs in there or are the eggs to big
I've not tried goose but can say that 8 turkey eggs fit in there fine
Why don't you use sand
Hi there I am having trouble with my incubator it is the exact same one as yours, only 6 out of 24 hatched not sure why also the eggs hatched a few days late
The ones with the little beaks look like merganzer ducks
Why couldn't you have just snuck your fingers up in there and take out the old egg shells instead of moving the babies out?
Because it had been 12 hours, if you're going to open the lid it makes more sense to move live ducklings than empty egg shells..
