It tells the very real and gritty representation of a very real world event. Magic Mike is a throw away piece of fluff film whose one goal is to bring women into cinemas. It's the British way and the reason why we are so self deprecating or mocking of ourselves, if you can't laugh at yourself then you've got no right to laugh at others. :)
Thatcherism was hard. They did the opposite of Germany by making millions unemployed, so the unions didn't win and what workers were left were demoralised and not proud. Then left us an economy based on little else than being closely linked with USA banks encouraging greed and debt, so the economy crashed by the early 90s, and every few years since after the USA. While in Germany they gave the workers what they wanted, which encouraged them to keep working hard and producing world class products, and less people use credit cards.
@@kettelbe Did you get that from Nigel Farage news, to fool morons into making Britain more into a USA lapdog, where English students are £40,000 in debt, and have the biggest differences between rich and poor in North Europe? I think that if an actor plays different types of genre movie roles like slapstick comedy, kids film, heavy drama, a superhero, a villain etc it means that they're good at their job. Robert Carlyle is definitely someone who falls into that collection of actors along with Michael Keaton and Christian Bale
The Full Monty is such a work of genius! It tackles the issues of parenthood, separation, unemployment, friendship, homosexuality, death, marriage, desperation, community… it has everything and it is done in the most beautifully simplistic way, with gentle comedy, it pulls at one’s heart strings and makes one also laugh! What more could you ask for? and with such a low budget, simply miles ahead of any of the Hollywood shite produced today.

Moloko. i do they were in the film hackers together.
Yes indeed! (And wasn't it pish?) It's incredible how gaunt Jolie's face has become since then. She needs a good burger or two.
Moloko yep I agree and she's way to skinny now.
thats bc she had a cancer scare. brad had to be the one to tell their kids :(
She looked like she'd just staggered out of Bergen-Belsen long before her cancer scare. It's the LA stick insect fashion.
what a delightful bunch of people i love them to bits
Robert Carlyle was amazing in Stargate Universe. Best thing on that show.
Oh god, i can't understand a word Robert is saying... I love Full Monty tho!
ME NEITHER!!!! Not a word. So annoying, as it seems to be very funny!
Wow, four years have passed and now I almost understand him! ...I think 😅 But I still don't know what he says at 1:12..?
@@pandolino1654 "I thought it was a load of fuckin' pish, to be honest with you"
@@Cruithneach Thank you!
@@pandolino1654 My pleasure 😉
Magic Mike HAS NOTHING on The Full Monty
I love The Full Monty it’s a brilliant film. Also who doesn’t love Robert Carlisle dancing and the cigarette gets stuck between his mouth and shirt 😂
Robert Carlyle is the best!!!! Best regards from Poland
DR RUSH!!! I ❤️ Stargate
Of course it became a hit - first because of a fantastic cast - Tom Wilkinson and Robert carlyle - two versatile actors. And the backdrop of the transision in the English society. Like "Brassed off" it delt with the masive loss of employment- steel industry in Sheffild and coalmines in " Brassed off". A poignant background that many could relate to. ❤❤❤
glad to hear Roberts still got his accent and not went all posh like Billy connolly
Roberts learned to be articulate in his Glasgow accent, but if your scottish and living abroad you do have to adapt your accent/voice cause usually u get so many funny looks like what is he saying?
i had a good friend who was a weeegie !! And with an accent thick as lead most people could not believe he was from an ENGLISH speaking country!! O! !!!!
Rumple! ❤️😂💙
I loved Full Monty
Go watch the film Priest, an early Carlyle role in which he has an affair with Father Linus Roache. There's some really beautiful scenes between those guys, and critique of the Catholic Church as well. Just check it out.
No more!
