Are you guys ever going to do Beyonce? I recommend Pray You Catch Me (or just the entire Lemonade album - Her Magnum Opus), Plastic Off the Sofa & Virgo's Groove (one blends into the other).
I'm telling you now, you won't be disappointed when you react to Case " Missing you " true classic 👍🏾🔥
Jon B featuring 2pac - Are You Still Down
Brian McKnight if you haven't already done a reaction. There's a bunch to choose from.
Have you guys reacted to any Tevin Campbell Music? His Voice is Legendary in 90s R&B? His first song, "Tomorrow" produced by Quincy Jones, would be great.
Joe's voice is just butter
Perfect description!
Agreed girl...agreed ...table for two was baby making music lol
Yes!
Yes it is..
And then his vocals in the background with the melody and the beat omg gives me goosebumps 🫠
We need R&B singers to start singing in the rain again while grabbing the air.
😂❤❤
I WHEEZED 😂😂😂
You know Gene Kelly started that, right? Lol.
Would love to see that again too, though.
@@kwadwotuffour5529 lmaoo
Ray J 😂😂
If they break out with some Mint Condition next, I'll lose my mind 🤣😂
🤞🏾 PRETTY BROWN EYES - MINT CONDITION 🤞🏾
Wheww! 🙌🏾❤
“You Don’t Have To Hurt (No More)” or “What Kind Of Man Would I Be” are BANGERS 👏🏽
Oh girl😂😂😂😂 yes...I will Too🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Pretty brown eyes 🤯
90’s R&B will always be top tier !!!! 👏🏻🤌🏻
Facts❤
🔥
Y’all jamming Joe?!! This is elite lol
Lol, facts
Yesss lol
Joe was making records LONG before Anthony Hamilton, started in the 90's. just mentioning because you were saying he's Like anthony. I have his first 4 cds and his writing along with his vocals are perfection. I love that he's a writer and producer, complete artist. One of my fav lyrics, I wish that I could take a journey through your mind. He's a rarity that every song on his albums were not fillers. It's like he's having a conversation. Love Joe.
That's the first thought I had! Totally earlier than Anthony H.!!! Joe is a talented legend.
I totally agree! Joe is 90s R & B and Anthony Hamilton is Neo Soul
I was saying the same thing. Like Anthony… huh??? 😆
@@takohsNtquila This!
@@destinykujilolol he’s not a rnb fan
A few you and Dad might like if you haven't heard them:
- Maxwell Ascension
- Musiq Soulchild Just Friends (Sunny)
- Aaliyah At Your Best. Your dad might like it since it's an Isley Brother's cover
I love Maxwell -Ascension Such a good song!!
I second this!!
If they haven’t listened to Maxwell yet they are sleeping!!! 😩😩
Maxwell's Hang suite I believe, Joe, Badu, D'Angelo, Jill Scott, Brand New Heavies.. was a few that came out near each other and was a great time in R&B. 91 through 03 was one of the best..hands down...Gerald Levert (his father Eddie was in the O'Jays) too...
how can u not put differences
Joe's vocals are like warm gravy on a bowl of mashed potatoes! Total comfort food 🤗
yesssss lol
Yessssss or Mac and cheese or peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream
@@miamiflutist & Anthony Hamilton is more ‘cornbread, fish & collard greens!! 😂😂
Oh you guys are getting into the Real R&B bag I love it!
facts
👍
Joe is R&B royalty!!!
PLEASE cover Maxwell’s “This woman’s work” or “whenever wherever whatever”!
Maxwell's live version of 'This Woman's Work' from MTV Unplugged.
@@vanessaseymour2634 yesss
Yes please
pretty wings too!!
Yes and “til the cops come knocking” from the MTV Unplugged
"You" by Jesse Powell is a really good one and also the Darkchild Remix of that song.
Yes!!!
This!!!!!!
My song!
I’ve never made the comparison between Joe and Lionel Richie, but now I can’t un-hear it.
Same!!
He sounds nothing like Lionel Ritchie to me.
yes!!! clearly Richie influenced him the tone & even the way he sings in an unrushed way.
Yes!
You know how sometimes you just want a few more cool friends to listen to good music with?Welp. You guys are those friends 😁
Hugs!!
Majesty crush’s no. 1 fan! You will be surprised
This whole channel's community is a vibe fr
This!
Same
I've never heard Lionel Richie influence before but can totally hear it now you said that.
I can do heart Lionel Richie now. I would have never made that connection
Very good observation from him. Never thought of it.
Keeping it in the 2000s, Can you guys react to Carl Thomas!?! “ I wish” “Summer Rain” “Emotional”. Maaaan you guys would love it! “I wish” is still on all of my playlists 💜💜💜
That’s actually more "90s“ related than necessarily "2000s".
Those songs came out in 2000!
OMG! Nobody ever reacts to Joe! What a treat! Oh, I'm so excited! I'm commenting while the video is playing - let me leave this keyboard alone lol!
Joe is a pillar in 90's R&B. I was super happy to see you guys cover some of his stuff. Other songs by him I'd suggest "Good Girls", "How soon", and you might really like the writing and simplicity of "All that I Am" the title track from the album All that I am. Other artists I'd love to see reviewed are India Arie specifically "Ready for Love", your dad will for sure cry and some tracks by Musiq Soulchild. A more mainstream song would be "Love" but "Just friends" his debut track is great and would probably be a bit interesting to see reviewed also "Half crazy". Loved this review!! God bless.
Edit: A quick fun fact, a few singers make cameo appearances in the music video for India Arie's "Ready for Love" including Anthony Hamilton.
India Arie- Ready for Love is a great choice 🙋🏾♀️ I second this
@@mzzthang3912 🙌🙌
I’ve been waiting on some more quiet storm reactions. Love this ❤️ Tyrese, Usher, DeAngelo, Ginuwine, Tank, Carl Thomas… even group reactions Dru Hill, 112, Jagged Edge.
Giiiiiirl, yesss!!!
Yes! A whole "Quiet Storm" reaction episode would be DOPE for February!
Don't forget Jodeci
And Jaheim ❤
Jagged Edge❤❤
Been awhile:) wow
About to go listen now
Big Pun’s ‘I’m Not a Player’ included a sample of Joe’s single ‘Don’t Wanna Be a Player’. That’s why Joe was featured on Pun’s version.
Also, it was very common in the 90s-early 2000s for singles attached to a soundtrack to have clips of the movie in the music video. It was a way of pushing the movie and boosting soundtrack sales
I love the way your Dad literally described a typical video of that era. Music is truly universal. I think you all may enjoy "Beauty" by Dru Hill, if you're going down the male R&B profile. Great video as always!
You beat me to it. That song is a beautiful.
ooo thats a good one i hope they get into dru hill!
@@richiestarks6163 so beautiful. Like, peak male R&B 🥲
The entire "Enter the Dru" album!❤
The fact that Beauty never got a video is a crime
I love that your dad mentioned being alone in a car on the highway. I'm a 50-year-old from Brooklyn, NY and it was very typical in the 90's to see guys in really nice cars with loud sound systems, cruising through the neighborhood blasting R&B at 2am. Mainly because they knew the ladies loved R&B so it was just another way to pick up girls.
ha ha wish I’d known that 25 years ago! (Kai’s dad)
@@frontroom Love y'all. I appreciate your reactions. Love this Era more than the present, tbh.
I wished men of this generation did this! 😔
Joe live on stage is phenomenal!!! He's so into crowd participation and asking/answering questions.
I like that. Jill Scott is the same way
Way Kool. Joe is going on tour with Tamia, I love them both.
Jaheim "Put That Woman First"
absolutely!!
More like Jon b watcha say
D’Angelo’s sound track to the movie “Brown Sugar” also titled Brown Sugar , is one you and your Dad should consider reviewing. Phenomenal, and in this Neo-Soul (genre) family as well. My comment wont do it justice but if you see these, strongly consider it. Peace and Love.
We in fact reacted to the entire Brown Sugar album on Patreon. (Coming to TH-cam as a shortened version in the future)
Maxwell version of "this women work live"
D' angelo 'how dos it feel" and "brown sugar " you and your dad should consider reviewing 🫶
Imagine them reviewing the epic D'Angelo Album Black Messiah. Whew!
@@QueenyKay Voodoo, BM, Brown Sugar. All brilliant. Music just doesn't make you feel like those albums do anymore that is why they are so important to me.
I'm surprised that you hadn't heard Joe before; he's a legend.
I fucking love this channel… honestly… I didn’t know their were people out there who listened to music the way I do. I love it. I think I might Patron 🥰🔥 Great job guys🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for your kind words!
Wow i was not expecting a Joe reaction.. this is that r&b i grew up listening to
This was a great video. You guys should do Jon B. “They Don’t Know” next. Talk about an r&b classic !
Faded Pictures was on the Rush Hour soundtrack back when soundtracks used to KILL. That song was huge and and JAMMMIN
I’m sincerely shocked that Kai hasn’t heard of Case. Please please do I’m missing you and happily ever after next. I’m pretty sure Dad will be moved to tears. Much love from Jersey ❤️
I Wanna Know is my favorite song by Joe! I think you guys would enjoy reacting to Maxwell, Fortunate is a really good one
Case actually made the sound track music to the Big Momma’s House movie. You guys should take a listen to “touch me tease me” “missing you” and “happily ever after.” These are a few of his biggest songs.
SN: back then in r&b if a song was made for a movie, flashes of it is shown in the music video.
When the younger gentleman mentions the unorthodox pocket work where case the vocalist “jazzily” stradles the swells of the “pocket” it blew my mind that he picked it up, and it told me all i need to know about him as a listener.
If i may, that very thing that he noticed is one of the pillars of “Soul”.
This was such a pleasant surprise to see you guys reviewing one of my favorite R&B Crooners. Joe is so Unbelievably talented and underrated. There was a great cohort of R&B Crooners in the 90s, Babyface, Brian McKnight, Maxwell, Tevin Campbell. We really were spoiled with beaucoups of Legendary Musack, it was Awesome. 🖤🎶😍🎶🖤
Yeah tevin would really take them on a ride I think
@@dajialaw220 I know right. Ain't nobody can hit dem high notes, like 90s Tevin Campbell. Although My Girrl, Chante Moore is sick with them Whistle Notes.
Yeah, but talking about the men who left a definite mark and are still kinda underrated. Now, women are a post all on their own
Not sure if you have reviewed this artist before, but Lisa Fischer's "How Can I Ease The Pain." is an absolute must. She is so vocally talented it is unbelievable. You should check it out. You may not get a lot of other requests for her, but I promise you she doesn't disappoint. It would be interesting to hear your dad's commentary on it too.
Yessss! I believe they'd both be in the living room like 😮
Dad will cry, especially if it's the live performance.
Live only. 🙏🏽
Made me think of Brenda Russell, piano in the dark for some reason. Around the same time maybe
Her vocals are amazing!
Case - "I'm missing you" is a great song you guys should listen to.
Would REALLY love for you two to check out “The Best Man I Can Be” by RL, Case, Tyrese & Ginuwine. All popular R&B singers who came together for “The Best Man” soundtrack. It will give you some more Case and possibly introduce you to other artists you may not be familiar with. We don’t really get collaborations like that anymore. Even a duet like “Faded Pictures” with two men isn’t something common these days.
@frontroom PLEASE do this song it is soooooo beautiful and uplifting ❤
That is the first song/ video that came to my head after watching this review. I would love to see their reaction to it. Awesome song choice!
Hits different for us old heads when the beat comes on. All the nolstagic feels. What a time to be alive back then
I've seen Joe in concert maybe 3 times now. He is an awesome performer! I encourage going to see him live! He has been in the industry for years and has not lost his talent!
This took me back to my college years. Definitely connected these songs with cannon life moments. PLEASE PLEASE do Donnell Jones-Where I Wanna Be or Jodeci-Forever My Lady! So good!
That Donnell Jones has us in a chokehold. Lol
Jodeci is a must!
Joe is an icon in the industry. He’s been around and he’s still killin it. Addicted to listening to him since day one ❤ thanks for doing this!
Faded Pictures is in my rotation TO THIS DAY!
Joe’s tone is absolutely reminiscent of Lionel Richie’s. Great observation.
Joe is my favorite male solo singer. His voice just does something to my soul. And he is a great song writer also. I got his first CD in the 90’s and have been a fan ever since. He has longevity. An RnB legend
No one suggested "I'm in Love" from his first album. To this day, that song is still a banger. His musical range is great.
still be on my playlist lol
@@KimHelm mine too, video and audio!
This made me realise in the song Mario - Just A friend, all the I Wanna Know lines are a reference to this Joe song. Could be coincidental though.
Please please review Maxwell omggg!!! That’s amazing neo soulll ❤ This woman’s work, Pretty Wings, Whatever wherever whenever, Till the cops come knocking you won’t regret it!!!!
I love how your Dad is so open. It must be a pleasure to introduce new music to him.
You should have listened to "All The Things by Joe" it really showcases his voice and vocal range a lot more. Joe has such a smooth voice.
It’s on patreon they said
Hello y’all!
Please cover the following songs
1.) Kem- love calls
2.) Kindred and the family soul- far away
3.) Case- happily ever after
Joe is Highly underrated it's downright shameful he's incredible
Man…I Wanna Know takes me back to senior year of HS. Loved this CD. Thanks for the nostalgia lol
I think you both would enjoy Floetry. They’re an r&b duo based out of the UK and their impact on the neo-soul movement was massive. I’d recommend their song Say Yes.
Classic! I was in elementary when it came out but I remember the radio blasting it
Learned recently that they have done a reaction video for Say Yes but lost the footage for it. I hope they find it.
I love me some Joe. "Let's Make a Love Scene" is my favorite Joe song.
Joe is really known for his lyrics and love ballads. You should check out "So I can have you back" and "What if a woman"
Your dad would love Maxwell! This Woman’s work or something like that.. so beautiful it always makes me cry.
Now y'all gotta checkout Case as well, "Missing you" is a good starting point
Joe, True R&B🔥🔥🔥💯🐐
Faded pictures is such a great song. The video is almost a distraction
Good point by Kai regarding today’s male R&B. Everyone’s trying so hard to be different we’ve lost the basics of great R&B music
Review “Thank god I found you” remix with Mariah Carey, Joe and Nas next. Since you are on a Joe kick.
Literally just heard this in my fitness class today. I had forgotten about it.☺️
The formula Joe is using to structure these songs isn’t unique to Joe. It was a very popular formula used by every R&B artist from about 1989-2005. That said, Joe is a great vocalist and an underrated writer/musician (he plays guitar and piano).
Joe just takes it to another level
Joe is a R&B icon. A lot of babies were made to Joe's music in the 90's early 2000's 😂😂😂 I would suggest checking out make it last forever with Joe, Mariah Carey, and Nas. They all performed so well.
I graduated in 2002. I had this exact CD. It’s part of the soundtrack to my teen years. So many memories that are scored by JOE. Great artist.
Joe is one of the greats of the past 30 years of R&B. He’s an incredible writer and he puts on one hell of a live show!!!
I love this so much!!!! Cool idea to do 2 songs to get a sense of his music. 90’s R&B is the gold standard. I would love if you cover the R&B group Jodeci (“Cry for You”, “Forever My Lady”, or their MTV Unplugged cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Lately”)
Donell Jones has that same highway effect “This Luv”. Very smooth groove
Pleaseeee dive into male r&b groups! Silk, 112, boyz 2 men, Shai!, Dru hill, Jagged Edge! I’d suggest Silk-Meeting in my bedroom as a very very good start
Dru hill and Jodeci Jagged Edge so much R&B you guys have to cover
Oh wow!! I’m a huge Joe fan!! He is sooo underrated!!!! Please take a look at any song from his “Signature” album!!❤❤
Listen 🎧Joe sounds the exact same live in concert. Smooth isn’t enough, how does he sounds sound so good in real life still.
Tony Nicholas also produced Baby Hold On To Me by Gerald Levert. I would love to see a reaction of this song as well as the Barry White song 2 classics!
Love this reaction.
Could you also consider:
Donell Jones - Where I Wanna Be
ABOUT damn time somebody covered the greatest male rnb vocalist of all time.Thank you but trust and believe JOE has many more bangers that will blow ya mind.JOE is the singers favorite singer!!
Hubby always said Joe sings like he as an amp in his throat. I love his voice; check out him singing live.
I like that. Amp in his throat. True.
Do “Where I wanna be” by Donell Jones. .. classic and sick instrumentals.
Love songs aren’t sappy… there beautiful ❤
I love seeing you all reviewing 90's/2000's R&B. That time in music was definitely top tier, and I appreciate Kai's appreciation of straightforward R&B lyrics. It definitely shows you pay attention to details & emotions. I would love to see your reaction to "Best Man I Can Be." It features 4 top tier Male R&B artists of 2000s including Case. It's very emotional so I think Kai would find it interesting & amusing 😂. I really love your channel, great work!!!
I’m glad y’all really enjoyed “I Wanna Know”. That’s one of my favorite songs. I hope you get a chance to react to “If I Was Your Man” by Joe. That’s another great song. I think y’all would enjoy it.
Joe- "all the things" is my favorite
Hands down my favorite male R&B singer. So glad you guys reviewed his music. He has so many features that he has done, he's written for many artist including Brandy. He is singing background vocals on a lot of different hits. I saw him live twice last year and was gifted a personal facetime with him where he sang happy birthday to me last year! Definitely a core memory I'll cherish forever ❤
I neeeed for you all to listen to “Best man I can be” with Case (whom you just heard), RL from next, Ginuwine, and Tyrese. A beautiful make R&b collaboration done for the soundtrack The Best Man.
I really like watching for your father's reactions. Joe is definitely one of our top R&B male vocalists. He doesn't get the credit he deserves. Thanks for your content!
So excited to watch this! Joe and Maxwell's voice is top-tier 🔥🔥🔥
Please listen to Avant and Keke Wyatt
you guys should check out Avant as well "makin good love", "don't take your love away", "read your mind" - all some good ones! Another Case song that's a good one is "missing you". Another good Joe song "all the things your man won't do"
Ahhhhhhh! I'm sooooooo excited, Thank you. When I was in 6th grade we would ask our teacher if we could play this during computer time and the teachers would sing along with us
I think your dad would absolutely love the music but truly the lyrics of Musiq Soulchild’s “Love” and “Don’t Change”. He’d probably be able to tell that the song “Love” was actually originally written as a song about God but the record company spun it to a regular love song but a female Christian group remade it and used the same lyrics except changed Love for Lord. He probably love the video for “Don’t Change” the lyrics and video together are a tear jerker!
Absolutely I agree
Yall should check out Lucky Daye!! He has some of that old school r&b feel that we've lost in modern r&b. Great lyricism and instrumentation
Ayeeeeeeee Joe is a R&B king ❤️ Timeless music
Joe's very first album is actually a banger and almost no one talks about it.
If you all like Joe you gonna love Jaheim just in case or put that woman first ❤
Pleasant surprise to see you react to Joe. Thank you! Other male rb suggestions:
Maxwell-Whatever, wherever, whenever, Ascension or entire Urban Suite Album
Musiq Soulchild-Love, Don’t Change
Raheem Devaughn-Mo Betta
Usher-Superstar
Boyz to Men- 4 seasons of loneliness, end of the road, on bended knee, water runs dry
Another RnB must; Chante Moore live medley performance on the 2022 Soul Train Awards is a vocal masterclass
There is no competition, both were R&B Giants in the 90's. Please check out Case's catalog as well. Happily Ever After and Missing You are Classic Case songs.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to Lauryn Hill- gotta find piece of mind. It’s off her MTV Unplugged album & about 10 minutes of her literally pouring her heart out to the point she’s in tears by the end. Such a Beautiful, Powerful performance that is slept on but I can guarantee will move you & dad both..Imo one of the most raw, emotional performances ever recorded. ❤
yes! one of my fave albums! MTV Unplugged was such a great show!
@@elleseven71 yeah, I miss those days ! 😩
They not ready for Lauren 😂
I’m into lyrics but I have an appreciation for yours and your dad’s breakdown on the beat.
Omg these two songs are R&B staples… please more 90’s-00’ R&B
