The transformation Prince would go through in just 1-2 short years after this, is insane! It’s literally like 2 completely different people between this and what he became in 1982-84
He was always changing and morphing up. That's why he stayed relevant to the masses. What do you mean by morphing? Morphing is an effect which sees one shape or object transform into another in a seamless transition.
First show March 1981 Denver rainbow music hall Second show March1983 Norman for the 1999 tour. The transformation was unbelievable... the sexuality even ramped up.
Both David Bowie and Mick Jagger were at this show along with Andy Warhol and the band members from KISS. Prince was getting all the legends at the time to notice him.
My very first concert was Prince and Rick James ill-fated Punk and Funk tour not long after this video was made. Rick James was the bigger star at the time but Prince stole the show. I can still remember Prince coming out on stage in knee-high stockings, high heels and a trench coat, and gyrating on the floor to “Let’s Work”. What a genius he was. No wonder Rick James hated him.
@aprodutube nah, Rick’s beef was Prince wouldn’t give his mom an autograph at a time when she was a huge fan. however, there was always that “competitive competition” amongst artists that was natural.
@@jimy0803 It was a little bit more than “competitive competition”. By Rick's own admission he once grabbed Prince by the neck and tried to pour whiskey down his throat knowing that Prince was a non-drinker. And, according to Tina Marie, Rick stole one of Prince's expensive synthesizer's on tour that Prince had programmed. I like Rick but he crossed the line with his hatred of Prince. Prince was so much more talented than Rick and Rick had a hard time accepting that.
@@aprodutube they were competitors who were constantly trying to one-up the other. the cognac incident allegedly took place at a party Rick invited Prince to. Rick felt Prince stole elements of his stage show from him, as well as the idea of the girl group. Rick’s response to Vanity 6, was that he (Rick) put out a girl group who could actually “sing”. it was always competition amongst artists. how do u think they got to where they are?
It reminds me of David Bowie at his beginnings. He did everything to be noticed, colourful clothes, you name it. But Talent was not enough to become a star, both were known, but it didn''t sell enough... Once both reach their goals, they did exactly what they wanted. I adore Prince, first time I was in love with a stranger... I saw in concert several times, have almost every album. I don't understand how I love him so much, while so many don't realise how talented he was, as a writer, singer and a performer.
Cool. You must have some great insight into the music industry around this time. Especially the business and unique collaborations that not everyone knows about
See that was a virtuoso performance on guitar . When people rank the GOATS , they should note that Prince not only commanded the Rock Style on guitar but he played the rhthm guitar like no other . That alone should easily put him in the top ten on the all time list .
It was reported that Prince played up to 27 instruments. These instruments can be heard on his debut album For You. The long list includes mostly guitar style instruments, keyboards, synthesizers, and percussion instruments. (Had to Google it). 🤣
Sorry, while he’s great, there have been so many guitarists out of the millions and millions of players since WWII - especially when you include all styles, eg jazz, country, etc - he is not top 10. He’d be top 10 among composers, definitely among multi-instrumentalists.
Huge Prince fan! Thank you for posting this video for all to enjoy. RIP Prince missing your music every day. ICON in taking back control of your masters. RIP.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

FUN FACT: The reason why Prince's hair is choppy instead of his previous long luscious curls is due to a bad relaxer. His hair literally snapped off. He got this style to cover up the broken hair.
Prince have 5 and a half Octave Voice, Plus he is a Musician and composer. Just him can do this ...and did so much more. Anyone else dead or alive ,could.
Not that difficult for a well trained singer, well must be depending of the profile but I find it easier then many other technics. Prince gets better at it live later in his life.

I’ve always loved how they choreographed while playing. Meticulous

Ain't he tho❤
Everybody is ...but I agree about the bass.
Rest in peace my brother. I miss you

And then in 1984 he proved to the world who he was. He became bigger than all of those guys 😅
This show is why Jagger asked him to open for the Stones. Kiss were also present according to Bobby Z
Prince surrounded himself with great talent, the Revolution is a tight band.
