Yes. I think Dhani Harrison is on stage, & Prince falls back into the crowd, well one of his crew anyway. Great stuff. Gotta go check out again. Dhani’s gotta be like 45, wow.
Most don’t know Prince played ALL the instruments on his first 5 albums! The Revolution was hired by him to be his touring band. They didn’t have an official name until Purple Rain. Dr. Fink said their name was still an idea on the 1999 album as it’s written backwards inside the football on the album cover. **His studio engineer Susan Rogers just this year spoke out about how Prince did it all. He wrote the songs, the music, played & sang on the guide track & gave other groups he created the track to resing. it. He created mall these groups to get his own work out & not oversaturate the market. He convinced Morris to be the front man for The Time as he didn’t think he could do it. She said he was a Genius by creating his own competition with his own work. He’d work all night then take a 15 min break & tell her put in another reel & keep going. His other Engineer Peggy said she knew he was Great but didn’t get it until he invited her to one of his concerts & then his appeal clicked as to how he commanded the stage & had people screaming for him! Susan also said everywhere they went he quietly made sure they made donations to help others including driving around with coats in case they saw a cold homeless person, donated millions to various causes & especially loved children giving $ to fund music programs in schools.
Prince had a great falsetto. Apart from this song (his first hit single) it was most famously showcased in 'Kiss', which you haven't reacted to yet but must because it's wonderful and one of his biggest hits.
@@bonepicker1You're wrong actually because this is his first actual billboard hit which peaked at number 11 barely missing the top 10 but still was his first top 20 hit. Soft and wet only charted on the soul charts and not the Hot 100
Prince was truly one of a kind and ahead of our time, there won’t be anyone like him. His song “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” truly shows his range in an amazing way, one of my favorites! 😁💛
And he only wrote it to prove a point to a record exec who told him he doesn't have a number one song in him any more. He went home, wrote and recorded it overnight and delivered it the next morning. His biggest hit worldwide (physical copies that is).
Hey guys, Prince wrote and performed "KISS" with The Revolution in 1986. 3 years later Sir Tom Jones did the song at age 49, and I suggest both official video versions. Peace ✌️
FYI, the album version of this song is almost 6 mins long. This was the single cut, that's why it's short. Other great falsetto songs from him are: "The Beautiful Ones," "Condition of the Heart," "Mountains," "Kiss," "If I Was Your Girlfriend," "Adore" and "I Wish You Heaven."
Second Post: If you really want to experience the depth of Prince playing guitar - watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of George Harrison (Beattle's). He is on stage with Jeff Lynn (ELO) Dani Harrison (son of George) Tom Petty and a couple more I cant list from memory. Prince stole the song While My Guitar Gently Weeps. After the guitar is tossed in the audience, I heard it was delivered to Oprah. You can see how much his peers respected him and honored him.
Prince wrote all his songs. Played 27 instruments. Produced. Arranged. In concert, was a dancer and THE BEST entertainer. The first 4 albums I bought, all he sang was falsetto. Then, he showed his whole vocal range. I Wanna Be Your Lover was his first hit. Almost disco (he came along at the end of it). A genius.
For falsetto and sexualness you For to listen to do me baby I think you'll be amazed he has amazing screams in that song. You also need to check out his purple rain performance at the super bowl and one of the best ones ever is guitar playing at the Rock and roll Hall of Fame tribute to where the Beatles George Harrison
AY!! 1981…I WAS 11-YEARS-OLD. PRINCE, MASTER MUSICIAN..AND FYI IN MUSIC VIDEOS THEY WOULD USUALLY CUT THE SONG SHORT BECAUSE, BY THE WAY, THIS VIDEO AND MANY WERE JUST USED TO SEND TO RECORD COMPANIES THEY WERE NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE. THIS WAS BEFORE MTV..
One of his best! Check out on You Tube the American Bandstand appearance with this song. I think they say he was 17 when he wrote and recorded this song. The beginning of a musical genius! I love the interview Dick Clark did with Prince after the song and all he gave was one word answers. Clark was befuddled, but that is Prince!
This version is short 4 air play and MTV + VH1. Freddie was crazy OBSESSED with PRINCE. The interviews/videos of F.M. speaking on P are really awesome and incredibly beautiful. GENIUS 2 GENIUS !!!
Prince was amazing! I saw him in concert twice. The concert was sooo good. Loved him and his music. If you like Prince singing in a higher pitch,,,you have too listen to his song KISS. RIP Prince. Miss him alot!
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Delirious" and "Kiss" !!!! edit- Jay, 1b for falsetto is Frankie Valli(&the Four Seasons), try "Sherry Baby", "Walk Like A Man" or "Big Girls Don't Cry"!!
Most recording artists would be over the moon if they'd written, performed and produced ONE single as catchy, accomplished, and just infectiously good and grooving as this in their entire career. For Prince this was the FIRST hit single of his career, released when he was twenty years old. He was one of a kind, really just unmatched in his time. EDIT: also this is the single edit that fades out over the instrumental. The album track is closer to six minutes, the instrumental goes on for an extended jam at the end.
So glad you like this, it was big in the dance clubs. Check out the extended version if you want to enjoy more of this song. Next up... please play his song Kiss and then check out Tom Jones's version with Art of Noise. Both are superb!
Prince's first hit from 1979 (age 21). This disco-ish song went to #11 Pop, #1 R&B, and #2 Dance. It still would take him a few more years to finally explode into a full-on superstar.
@@bonepicker1 "Soft and Wet" charted but it wasn't a major mainstream Pop hit (#92 Pop, #11 R&B). "I Wanna Be Your Lover" is what really brought Prince into the public eye. It got both Pop and R&B play and was a hit on BOTH charts.
I see you've discovered his falsetto. Prince was a true renaissance man. He played all of the instruments. He just hired the Revolution so that he could tour live. He wrote for everyone. He created The Time and Vanity 6 so that someone else could perform the music he wrote. He was the best at everything he did; including guitar... you need to see his solo performance of AS MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS. Other guitar superstars were stunned in awe. Check it out.
little Richard once said that prince got his style from him, Jimi hendrix and James Brown. prince was all of them rolled inro one. prince admired all of them.
This is very young Prince... barely 21, with his first debut in 1979.... just wait a few years 'till 1984, and Purple Rain comes in, Grammys come in, AMAs come in, and, of course, his Oscar
@@user-DJDreamworld he didn't do it on all of his albums. a few years after this point he used the people in his various band to do things in the studio to add their own flavor. for instance, dez dickerson played the famous solo on little red corvette. dr. fink and lisa did a lot of the synth work. andre cymone and brownmark would be on bass. later, the new power generation were seasoned session musicians...prince lost the flavor around then but that's neither here nor there.
I love watching y'all getting into Prince. If you want to see I Wanna Be Your Lover on his very 1st TV appearance American Band Stand with Dick Clark 1980. He also does this song on TV show Midnight Special 1980. Also check out his very 1st hit Soft and Wet 1978.
Prince is my role model. An icon in every aspect. I miss him very much. Thanks for this reaction guys. 💜 Please do react to Prince "Empty Room" live at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I am sure you will love it ☺️
Ok, really funny. I was waiting for the chorus for that classic naughty pause and then… TH-cam put an ad right at that crucial point! 😂 “I want to be the only one who makes you come…” AD “…running!” 😅
This was very early Prince, "Kiss" is another song with plenty of falsetto. Another early Prince song you should react to is "Bambi", or my favorite Prince song "Erotic City" (not for kids). 👍
Just found your channel last night when I stumbled across your “Oh, Sherrie” reaction. Prince. Prince, Prince, Prince. I had to pull my car to the side of the road when they announced that he had passed. I couldn’t see the road for all of the tears. Love him. And your mama is right: he could generate all of the feels. Whew! One hot little package! If you haven’t done it already, I’d love to hear your reaction to “Diamond and Pearls”. It’s my favorite Prince song of all time.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne (E.L.O.), Steve Windwood (Traffic, Blind Faith) and the Purple One himself PRINCE. They cover George Harrison's (The Beatles) "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Prince's guitar solo is a masterpiece! Jay and Amber, you must listen to one. You got to give the people what they want!
I was born and raised in Minneapolis and Prince was and always will be our shining star! Imagine being a 12 year girl and my friend is putting this album on and listening to this song. Oh Lord!! I was hooked. There was no going back. Fast forward 2 years to the Controversy album. Perfection. "Do Me Baby" has all the falsetto you could ask for. One of my favorite slow jams by him. I would love to see a reaction video to that one.
I loved Prince thorughout his many phases, but you haven't yet delved into his brief time as "Prince & The New Power Generation". I loved the songs "Sign O' The Times", "7", and especially "Cream". And if you want the paragon of Prince's falsetto, you gotta listen to "Kiss".
Yes, love the NPG era! They should do "The Morning Papers" or "Insatiable". Or maybe "Violet the Organ Grinder" just because I want to see the look of shock on their faces when they find out that Prince rapped 😂
He played every instrument on this song. Way way back in the day I loved going to roller disco and this was a favorite for the accomplished skaters to go out and tear it up. Aaah, the memories, yes I'm old. LOL
This is the first prince song that I ever heard. There was no videos back in the day, and if you didn’t have cable, you didn’t see pretty much anything we thought it was a girl for a minute lol.
I’m sorry, but Prince always made every woman want to be his lover! He was one sexy man and his voice and music were butter, no matter what direction it was in. Seeing him live was an absolute amazing experience! Thanks guys! Definitely top of the line Amber!
No, you guys are getting the shorter version in this video, there is an extended version where they go into the instrumental/jam session. This is one of my favorite songs of Prince.
Wife here..., As a HUGE Prince fan I wanna Thank You Guys for reacting to this awesome tune!!...His falsetto is off the chain for sure!!..,I had the posters too!!💜
This is one of my all time favorites, especially the 3 minute instrumental jam that closes out the song on the album version. So yes it is a much longer song than portrayed here. For a completely different sound from Prince try "Free" which is slow and thought provoking. Also try "How come u don't call me anymore" which is pretty much just Prince and a piano.
I remember when this song first came out. My sister went out & bought the album. This was the first song we've heard of Prince. I fell in love with Prince & cried for days when he passed away. I'm glad I got to go to his concert. ❤❤❤
That was the short version of the song. The song is actually two or three minutes longer than that because of the keyboard solo that he has as the song was going off on your video?
EVERY single note you hear, on EVERY instrument (including the voice [so many people neglect to perceive the voice as an instrument! It IS!]) on this song is written and performed by the ONE, the ONLY: PRINCE. In fact: every note on this album (save for a backing vocal by André Cymone) is written and performed by: Prince. -This was Prince's sophomore album and also contains the song: "I Feel For You" (which would be covered, with GREAT success, about a decade later (just less than), by: Chaka Khan.). ...I don't think that Prince worked at Sunset Sound (which was his "home base" (sort-of), prior to building Paisley Park (in the late '80s)-), where he did his first album [For You]. ...So, No Peggy McCreary [ a.k.a.: "Peggy Mac"]: Prince's major audio engineer in his early career [he had 4: all female, in his career]. Prince was, still, learning the studio at this point and was more concerned with having everything set-up so he could work non-stop as soon as he came in, every day. -It is, also, a (perhaps 🤷🤷) little-known fact that: Prince recorded ALL of his lead vocals at the desk (the audio console in the control room), using a boom mic. ...this was, so, he could play with levels and control playback and recording WHILE doing his vocal tracks. EVERY, single PRINCE vocal you have EVER heard was: HIM, sitting at the console, with a boom mic. -Jay: if you are THAT fascinated by "the extremes" of Prince's "falsetto" voice, you should check-out his:"Camille" tracks (an "alternate female personality" he created) -although, I must warn you, ahead-of-time: the voice you will hear as "Camille" is NOT "natural," the voice is altered using ...the technology of the time (which would be: slowing down the tape while recording the vocal track, later speeding-up the tape to normal speed [just like "slo-mo" is done, with a film camera], or: by using a pitch-shifter (which was a rack-mount, or pedal-controlled, effect, which affected specific pitches/instruments without altering the rest of the recording)), so: it is pitched even higher than it would be "in room," but ...still ....just crazy. Several "Camille" tracks have been released as b-sides AND album cuts, on Prince albums (more were released on the "extended version" CD releases) and the entire "Camille" album is slated to, finally, see release, posthumously.] You can search out classic cuts, like: "Shockadelica", "Housequake", "If I Was Your Girlfriend", "Rockhard In A Funky Place" & "Strange Relationship" are, all, "Camille"tracks (originally) ...I believe the song: "U Got The Look", also, was considered a "Camille" track, initially (and does seem to use some vocal manipulation -although less so than other songs I have mentioned 🤷) and, as I recall, the track: "Erotic City" [a b-side from the: 1999 album] was the first place that Prince, actually, employed the "Camille"-style of vocal (pitched-up). All of them are well-worth hearing! 🤘🤘🔥😁
This song is off of his second album "Prince" and was his first hit in the US. He had claimed to be 19 when it came out but was in fact 21. It came out in 1979.
His falsetto in his song called "KISS" will knock you off your feet! The song is super catchy as well and was featured in an iconic scene from the movie Pretty Woman!!!

Now this is what I am talking about!!! More Prince reactions, please!!!!!!!!!
I agree. His catalogue is so huge, you may as well start now 😂
I agree 100%
I have been saying that to all the reactors from the start one kid does Prince on a regular basis that's why I've taken to watching him more.
@@tommtommkin Which reactor? I'd like to see those reactions!!
@@kobrien2424 Check out Just Jammin'. He reacts to everything Prince. I think he's done all of his 42 albums.
Prince had a great falsetto. Apart from this song (his first hit single) it was most famously showcased in 'Kiss', which you haven't reacted to yet but must because it's wonderful and one of his biggest hits.
This was the first Prince song I heard on the radio. Basically, it was the first hit of his career.
No, it was his 2nd hit of his career. 1st hit was soft and wet, 1978, 2nd hit was I wanna be your lover, 1979. Info on Wikipedia.
They MUST react to that one!!!
I came here to say this! All the incredible guitarists on stage and he blew them OUT OF THE WATER! Even they gave him props. You must watch that.
Agree. His guitar solo in that song is unbelievable
Love this one.. watch it about 20 times a year.
With Steve Winwood!!💕
Prince was inducted into the RRHF that evening too
Prince wrote all his songs. A genius.
Prince was such talented man. His voice. His instrumental ability. His song writing. He was responsible for writing music by other singers.
I hope they do a rea cation to th the "The Time""IDon't Want To Leave You"and "The Walk"
He was an amazing guitarist!
The album was written, arranged, composed, produced and performed entirely by Prince.
Goat!!!!!
Hair and makeup - prince
Prince was amazing! I saw him in concert twice. The concert was sooo good. Loved him and his music. If you like Prince singing in a higher pitch,,,you have too listen to his song KISS. RIP Prince. Miss him alot!
yes yes yes; totally agree Michal
He played every instrument in this song and in the video
Prince was only 19 yrs old here as well
I wanna be the only one that makes you come…running! Clever Prince. 😂
Never lacking for a double-entendré, that Prince! 🤘🤘
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Delirious" and "Kiss" !!!!
edit- Jay, 1b for falsetto is Frankie Valli(&the Four Seasons), try "Sherry Baby", "Walk Like A Man" or "Big Girls Don't Cry"!!
Frankie V pushes both Barry & Prince aside…
Most recording artists would be over the moon if they'd written, performed and produced ONE single as catchy, accomplished, and just infectiously good and grooving as this in their entire career. For Prince this was the FIRST hit single of his career, released when he was twenty years old. He was one of a kind, really just unmatched in his time. EDIT: also this is the single edit that fades out over the instrumental. The album track is closer to six minutes, the instrumental goes on for an extended jam at the end.
Prince played ALL the instruments in this song !
So glad you like this, it was big in the dance clubs. Check out the extended version if you want to enjoy more of this song. Next up... please play his song Kiss and then check out Tom Jones's version with Art of Noise. Both are superb!
The highlight of the video for "Kiss", at least for me, is Wendy laughing her ass off while playing guitar and watching Prince's antics.
@@michlkwitz I just like the music.
Yes I danced to the long version at discos many times
Prince's first hit from 1979 (age 21). This disco-ish song went to #11 Pop, #1 R&B, and #2 Dance. It still would take him a few more years to finally explode into a full-on superstar.
No, 2nd hit. His first was Soft and Wet 1978. Check Wikipedia for his entire discography..
This was the late 70's, I was like 8 or 9 when this came out. My mom killed this. 🎉❤️🔥💯
When you started dancing, I was dying. That chorus hit and your soul went 🕺🏽
If you love Prince, a must song to listen to is - The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.
Check out his song “Dirty Mind” from his album of the same name, it made me a Prince fan for life.
little Richard once said that prince got his style from him, Jimi hendrix and James Brown. prince was all of them rolled inro one. prince admired all of them.
This is very young Prince... barely 21, with his first debut in 1979.... just wait a few years 'till 1984, and Purple Rain comes in, Grammys come in, AMAs come in, and, of course, his Oscar
I think he played every thing on this album
He did
@@yousexymf I thought so I think he did on all his albums just love this man
@@user-DJDreamworld most of them in the beginning....love him too...have you been to Paisley Park?
@@user-DJDreamworld he didn't do it on all of his albums. a few years after this point he used the people in his various band to do things in the studio to add their own flavor. for instance, dez dickerson played the famous solo on little red corvette. dr. fink and lisa did a lot of the synth work. andre cymone and brownmark would be on bass. later, the new power generation were seasoned session musicians...prince lost the flavor around then but that's neither here nor there.
@@yousexymf I wish
The album version is way longer guys! Great reaction!
YESSSS..BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE AND "CONTROVERSY"
I love watching y'all getting into Prince. If you want to see I Wanna Be Your Lover on his very 1st TV appearance American Band Stand with Dick Clark 1980. He also does this song on TV show Midnight Special 1980. Also check out his very 1st hit Soft and Wet 1978.
Prince's first hit, going way back to 1979, when he was 20 or 21. Excellent choice, guys.
Prince is my role model. An icon in every aspect. I miss him very much. Thanks for this reaction guys. 💜 Please do react to Prince "Empty Room" live at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I am sure you will love it ☺️
When Prince first appeared on American Bandstand w/ Dick Clark, he didn't think Prince would make it in the industry.
Yeah, Petty turned and looked at him like What!!
I really loved Prince and the NPG era! The music was fire!! 🔥😍🔥
Yes, love the NPG era! They should do "The Morning Papers" or "Insatiable". Or maybe "Violet the Organ Grinder" just because I want to see the look of shock on their faces when they find out that Prince rapped 😂
The first Prince song I loved, and my first Prince album…. Ah memories… 🦋✌🏼💛
Love it so much! It’s an instant mood booster. Ya gotta dance!
That was short because it's the radio edit version. The ending is all instrumental and the song goes for about 5:50.
My favorite instrumental at the END 😊
💜💜💜 PRINCE 💜💜💜
Beautiful Ones (studio version) should be next. It has that sensual voice and so. much. soul. I guarantee y’all will love it. You’re welcome 😉
He played all the instruments on the album…….the guitar solo on Bambi is sick
It has to be the live in Tokyo version,
This is the song that made me fall in love with Prince...all those years ago! Beautiful man, brilliant artist, ICONIC! Miss him!💜
He was only 19 at that time...greatness!
Omg! My FAVORITE Prince song!! I play this song over and over 💖💖💖
I’m sorry, but Prince always made every woman want to be his lover! He was one sexy man and his voice and music were butter, no matter what direction it was in. Seeing him live was an absolute amazing experience! Thanks guys! Definitely top of the line Amber!
Love the early Prince as much as the rest! 😍
Other notable Prince songs in falsetto include: Kiss, Adore, Let's Work, and Do Me Baby.
No, you guys are getting the shorter version in this video, there is an extended version where they go into the instrumental/jam session. This is one of my favorite songs of Prince.
Wife here..., As a HUGE Prince fan I wanna Thank You Guys for reacting to this awesome tune!!...His falsetto is off the chain for sure!!..,I had the posters too!!💜
Awesome track of Prince's , great reaction
Several "Camille" tracks have been released as b-sides AND album cuts, on Prince albums (more were released on the "extended version" CD releases) and the entire "Camille" album is slated to, finally, see release, posthumously.]
You can search out classic cuts, like:
"Shockadelica",
"Housequake",
"If I Was Your Girlfriend",
"Rockhard In A Funky Place"
& "Strange Relationship" are, all, "Camille"tracks (originally)
...I believe the song: "U Got The Look", also, was considered a "Camille" track, initially (and does seem to use some vocal manipulation -although less so than other songs I have mentioned 🤷) and, as I recall, the track: "Erotic City" [a b-side from the: 1999 album] was the first place that Prince, actually, employed the "Camille"-style of vocal (pitched-up).
All of them are well-worth hearing!
🤘🤘🔥😁
This song is off of his second album "Prince" and was his first hit in the US. He had claimed to be 19 when it came out but was in fact 21. It came out in 1979.
Oh yeah! Prince ✌❤🎶
Prince the pocket rocket. Loved him. He had the most beautiful eyes.
This is Prince's first song. There is a disco version that is longer. This is before he became so flashy.
the version with the outro is great.
Sorry, not first song. This is actually off his second album.
@@mosescarter1196 I remember this as the first song I heard on the radio. Had never heard of Prince before this song. Thanks for the info.
His falsetto in his song called "KISS" will knock you off your feet! The song is super catchy as well and was featured in an iconic scene from the movie Pretty Woman!!!
Hey y’all! Sooo many HITS by Prince! Please react to his song “The Beautiful Ones.” The official video is from the movie Purple Rain, which I HIGHLY recommend y’all react to movie wise! The video clip won’t give anything away- it will just put the music video into context- Prince plays himself in the movie! Epic! 💝💙✨ Again, plz do the song “The Beautiful Ones.” R.I.P. Prince 💜🙌🏻💜
This is very young Prince! This is who I fell in love with and this is from the self titled album. This song was released in 1979! He played 27 different instruments! I saw him in concert in 1980 when he opened for Rick James! I agree with Amber, Prince is the GOAT!! Check out his hits, “Pop Life”. and “Sign of the Times” both great songs about important topics!❤❤
Great reaction guys! Prince is a one man army. He checks every box 💜 You guys should check out Kiss next for more of his falsetto :)
When I was a kid I loved this song, I heard it all the time at the roller rink, it wasn’t till years later I found out it was Prince and I was HUGE fan…
The long version is bomb!
He made this Album , played all the instruments and produced it . He was so talented he signed his first record contract at 18 years old !!! No one greater in our lifetime then this man . He was the Mozart of our generation . I am 52 by the way !!!
Prince is 24 karat gold one of a kind.
One of my fav Prince songs! 👑 I knew you were gonna dig it…. Love you guys! 💕
Hi guys
Prince wrote, played, produced and did all vocals on the first 5 albums. They killed him.
The “industry” gets them in the end…..ownership of their masters, billions billions to be earned from masterful catalogue….
Questions should be asked 🤔
The long version is better...
The most beautiful girl in the world - that falsetto is shining in this Prince song. Give it a whirl!😁💜
This is when I discovered Prince in 1979. It's incredible to think this is 43 years ago. I was 17 years old. In all honesty, this is still my favourite song of Prince.
