    LOL Those are considered Trees! :) Love it. THanks so much for this. Very helpful!

      One part of the park has some good sized trees and is very well shaded. The other side is very sunny.

    We recently stayed here a week. We stayed south because we were trying to soak up some sun and thaw out. Lots of fresh air. Stickers and prickly pear. Both north and south ends. Spent too much time removing stickers from pups feet. Certainly not overcrowded. No water. Lake very dried up. San Angelo river walk was our favorite part. San Angelo historic district was nice walk around. Friendly people.

      We love riding our Rad bikes in this park. It's a larger park than it appears to be at first. The roads are wonderful to ride.

      I kept wondering,"How do people ride bikes here? All the prickly pear along the trails....OUCH if you fell off!" 😂 Anyway, I love that you ride bikes!👍❤️

      @@Cheezyquackers2 True story. We ride ebikes that are so much fun. When we first got them, I hadn't been on a bike in about 45 years other than a brief ride on an ebike in Indiana. Riding the bike took some effort to adjust to it. My first of 5 falls was in some cacti at Brownwood State Park. Getting the needles out was no fun!

    My home town! We recently visited the park. The North side looked great for biking and hiking .

      San Angelo seemed a good place to stop when we lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It is a nice park.

      @@TwoTiredTeachers We plan on visiting Dinosaur Valley next time when we visit the DFW. How well did you navigate the trails? I had an issue locating markers, but made it back before dark.

    • @TwoTiredTeachers
      @TwoTiredTeachers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrSTravelQuest Navigating some trails is really easy while others present more of a challenge. If you are doing much hiking, you will definitely want a trail map; it's separate from the map of the campground. If I'm not mistaken, Dinosaur Valley has about 20 miles of trails. The easiest one we used was the one from the campground to the dinosaur tracks. It was maybe a mile.
      Wish I could be more help. Asking the rangers is your best bet because they know the trails.

    We love TX Lots of great wildlife there. The mosaic cars were great!

      We thoroughly enjoyed San Angelo. The park was full of deer, and the river walk had the cars and lots of other cool stuff.

    Thanks for the great video. We’ve stayed one night at the south section just passing through on our way home but after seeing what you showed of the north section I think we’d opt for the north part on a return visit. I definitely prefer the trees! 👍

    • @TwoTiredTeachers

      We do like our trees. If you like secluded campsites, the north section is for you. We do like some seclusion, so the north section worked well for us.

    " those are considered trees"- i laughed so hard I almost blew a lung out. Yes mesquite bush grow huge. It feels silly to call them giant bushes, so trees they are. The playground is called Kid's Kingdom, many ppl in the community helped build that.... including my hubs.

      If you are traveling in the summer, you might want to choose Abilene State Park or Lake Brownwood State Park. Both of those should be about 100 miles from San Angelo, and both of them having swimming at their parks. Abilene actually has a pool at the state park, and you can swim in the lake at Lake Brownwood State Park. If you decide on the Lake Brownwood State Park, site 10 is the best one in the park.
      Also, remember that you don't need a fishing license if you are on a pier or bank at a Texas State Park. Most of the parks that have fishing also have loaner rods and reels. It is first come, first serve.
      Wherever you end up, have a great trip.

    Beautiful campgrounds. The difference in the two parks is amazing. It is like you are in two totally different worlds. San Angelo looks like such a cool place with the river walk. I am always in awe of artists who can create such beautiful pieces out of ordinary things like this VW and Pick up. I hope to be able to see that in person some day. Sharon are you counting down the days yet?

    • @PidasianHippie
      @PidasianHippie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TwoTiredTeachers I can totally relate to that. I was having to get up at 4:30 and some days even 3:00. That was the biggest motivation to hurry on my retirement. Many people, including my sister, told me that I would automatically get up that early after I retired. My very first day, I slept until after 8 am and I haven't got up before 6 since I retired almost 3 years ago.
