    What a school of fish on the fish finder. Another great video. And gators for a bonus.

      There were actually several areas with HUGE baitfish schools. A super healthy lake. Healthy gators too! Thanks for watching.

      And this is just ONE of the many lakes in this HUGE fishery. Only a $3 charge to fish all day long. These are old phosphate pits from long ago. It's legendary.

    That’s an awesome looking lake and seems to be well managed. No giants but a real good day of fishing and plenty of big gators for your viewing pleasure hahaha. A balmy 42 degrees here at 6:00 AM, gonna introduce Karen to a little “running & gunning” style of ice fishing this morning.

      That sounds fun! I hope she enjoys it! This lake is one of 29 lakes managed by Tenoroc. They're mostly old Phosphate pits. It's only open 4 days a week and each lake has a max number of anglers allowed on it. This particular lake allows 4 vessels. That's nice since it reduces the pressure on these fish. It's catch and release only. Another bonus. Most of the lakes allow electric motor only. GREAT for us kayakers!

  • @134rwa
    @134rwa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like that system of information they want on the catches, lets them know how the management of the fish in the lake is doing.

    Another lake by there though, I would like to go to one day.

      I'd like to eventually fish every lake in the Tenoroc system. Must be 20 or so. I know the lake you're talking about. That would be a good one for me to travel down for a short trip with the rooftop tent. I could stay right at the campground.

    I always respect the way you keep the bass in your net in the water while you’re setting up your scale and phone camera. Not everyone does that.

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't imagine NOT keeping a fish in the water. It's a pretty simple / humane thing to do. I know lots of anglers just lay them in the bottom of the kayak. That's too bad because even a few minutes out of water does damage.... especially on thee bigger / older fish.

      I wish I was closer because this is a GREAT place for kayaks. They have a season pass if you don't want to pay every time you fish. Not sure on that fish but he was FOUL. It wasn't a fishy smell either.... just rotting animal carcus smell. Weird.

    Some of those small lakes are hard to get a kayak in there due to the bulkheads.

      I've only been in a few of the lakes and so far, no issues except Lake 10 is a bear with that steep bank launch. I sure wish I didn't have to travel from the OTHER side of Orlando to fish here. The ride home was miserable with traffic.

    I used to take my kids to Teneroc when they were little. They have a pit behind the office (Derby lake) that is bank fishing only and kids under 16 accompanied by adults that is a great place to take little ones fishing. You have to release all bass, but there are plenty to catch. Also there are docks and fish feeders and you can catch and keep bluegill. It's been over ten years since i have been, so i don't know how much has changed, but it's a place worth looking into. Tight lines.

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've driven past derby lake but have never fished it. That entire place is very nice. And keeping it regulated has probably kept tthe fish populattion healthy. The lakes themselves probably haven't changed much but the visitor / HQ has definitely changed. Top notch place!

    had to look up (map) where /what TENEROC is....several lakes it appears, I guess they're not connected... flooded groves or quarries? quite a labyrinth of channels....looked like a great kayak adventure....

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tenoroc has about 29 different lakes ranging from 10 acres to 228 acres. Some are reclaimed, most are not. They're old phosphate pits. Some really good fishing. There was a kayak fishing tournament the day after I fished there. The winner logged 107.5". Just incredible.

    Can you use gas powe boat overthere

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen Bass boats on many of the lakes but I've never seen them used. It could be trolling motor only. There are so many submerged trees in these lake, I'd think it would be dangerous to run a motor. The website says "Limitations on the use of boat motors also apply here" so I'm assuming it's trolling only. myfwc.com/fishing/freshwater/sites-forecasts/sw/tenoroc/

      I found that if you pull up each lake's individual map.... it lists the regulations. Lake 5 says you can use gas motor but only at IDLE speed. That's probably tthe biggest lake out there. 228 acres or so
