You are absolutely right, self-improvement has become a trend, a fad. Meditating, going to the gym, reading, no longer seems as special as it did a few years ago.

That’s how trend cycles work. It happened in the nineties and it happened in the 70s. It’s the 20 year cycle. It’s special still to me though. No one in my real life is doing it except for some classmates. We shouldn’t do it to be special or compete.
Edit: you can have a competitive mindset but at the end of the day your number one reason should be doing it for yourself, your own quality of life.

I am 15 years old and I already realized all this. I do meditation, I do weight training, I haven't yet found what I need to work for and my goals (probably because of age) and I'm doing better and better to have iron discipline .

My best mate is clearly in the 1% money, health, mindset he’s got it. But he doesn’t work hard all day everyday. He told me that rest is very important along with consistency and discipline. He’s routine on weekdays is work 8hrs, gym and meditation(walks, yoga) alternate as long as you do one of them everyday and Eat nutritious as much as you can. On the weekends he’d have the same routine but substitute work with he’s passion or purpose. Also he says that being alone is dangerous, you can have solitude for a bit but don’t be alone for too long as this impacts your overall wellbeing. In saying that he says that he only has 4-5 people he hangs out with as he surrounds himself with only good and positive people. I’m happy that he told me I’m one of them 😊.

Yes I say the same for many areas. For example, everyone Know's to talk to their professor, so no one stands out and it's harder to find a time to bond with a professor when everyone is trying to. Being 5'6 is a nerf, regarding the relationship scene, because no matter how much money I have and how amazing my body is, there's gonna be a 6-foot guy with the same things, and the girl will always choose the guy with one more benefit.

Wasting an hour a day means 365 hours wasted per year. Given the average reading speed, it takes 7 hours to finish a 300-page book. That’s 52 additional books you could’ve read and implemented, each year.
