This live version is way more interesting in terms of composition and arrangement than the studio recorded one! The delicate intricacies of musical inputs inbetween are...o my God....such a pleasure to ears! I had fallen flat listening the album version first then I heard the live one and I was awestruck by Mark's enviable quality in making and sounding the same song completely different in live (great example: "so far away")! Anyway thanks for the fantastic reaction. Loved it❤❤

He has his own band but has played on tours with Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy & Roger Walters. He had a big hit back in the '80's with "Bird of Paradise". Very soulful & bluesy.

I've said before and I'll say again, while you're experiencing the multifaceted dynamics of live performance, you're missing the vocal clarity of the original studio creation. Personally, I can’t be bothered to ‘watch’ reactions to DS and MK studio recordings, I think Planet of New Orleans is the only exception, as I’ve never found a good live version of it. I can listen every day to any of Mark’s music as often as I like but IMO, thanks to YT, to watch the awesome, atmospheric LIVE performances of Mark Solo & Dire Straits gives me a much greater & emotional connection to his music, happy or sad. Also, appropos of the preceding, I’ve always loved MK’s ability to characteriize the meaning of his lyrics through his gorgeous vocal tones. I❤MK
