“Clash Of The Titans” (1981) was a very well received action adventure in the style of “The 7th Voyage Of Sindbad”, that mainly is caused by the outstanding special effects by the legendary Ray Harryhausen, who not only made skeletons that could fight (7th Voyage) but also helped Pegasus to fly and the mighty Medusa to scare many people that went to see the movie. Even today this achievements seem to work fine after these years. What really can’t be ignored watching it, is the music by Laurence Rosenthal. He once said in an interview (that you can watch on TH-cam), that Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s operatic score to “Kings Row” (1942) made him want to become a film composer and I think, after the scores he has written before “Titans”, he finally saw his chance to write in this beloved rich, romantic and very colorful orchestrated Korngold style. And he did very well. The main titles, the love theme, the action and adventure music sounds like it all belongs together, like… in an opera. Laurence Rosenthal conducts the London Symphony Orchestra, which supports with an outstanding performance. Enjoy!
An absolute gem of a soundtrack. In fact it’s one of my all time favourite fantasy scores. The Intrada 2 disc version of the soundtrack is phenomenal. Wonderful all round. Thanks for posting Fred. Keep up the great work buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
I recall reading that some of this film was shot in Iraq, 1979, and I was a big fan of it, mostly because of Ray Harryhausen, but getting Laurence Olivier to play Zeus, and Rosenthal's evocative score, certainly helped. Neil McCarthy's Calibos was great and I have missed Judi Bowker, since this film and Count Dracula, 1977.
One of the greatest soundtracks in cinema history...the timeless sweeping majesty of it just blows me away! TOTALLY EPIC ⚔️
Pour moi il représente le meilleur film de tous les temps! Question de Nostalgie :)

Hello Robin,
that's such pure joy to read. Thank you so much for this rewarding words!
Best to you!
Fred
I saw this in the theatre when it was released and the music instantly took hold in my mind. One of the greatest cinema experience of my life!
Absolutely great. One of the best soundtracks of all time.
I still own a copy.
Laurence Rosenthal evoked Middle Eastern music in the Western symphonic mode, and the result is bewitching. I have the OST and it's a delight!
OST?

Wow. Thanks Fred. Another fantastic OST suite that captures the richness of the original.
A masterpiece !
Epic piece of music !
So fortunate to see the London Symphony Orchestra perform several movie themes several years ago.. Great night
A long time favorite and I have the original CD. I remember seeing the movie as a guest of the producer at the preview. Harryhausen fans went wild.

I just love this movie and the soundtrack! Thank you, Soundtrack Fred! I love this suite! :-)
This movie takes me bk to my childhood like not many other films. Maybe because I played with the action figures.
Fantastic. Thank you!
Thanks Fred. Such a relief From those "Accursed hell sent swarms of Blood gutted Marsh flies."
Love the movie as a kid. Great score
Those Days of yesteryear centuries of wonderful human Art.
Some credit should also go to the brilliant orchestrations by Herbert Spencer.
It was the music that made these films what they REALLY were. I don't think they even use real orchestras anymore for high fantasy films anymore
Fantastic.
Total awesomeness!
Great soundtrack

Medusa would make a better politician than any in the USA.
She beats Jeremy Corbyn by a long shot.
