"And who cares about accuracy when you have history in your hands." Perfectly said :). I have an ol' Mosin made in 1942, and if I put a round on paper, I'm happy. It's just satisfying to take her out and let the beast bark every once in a while.
A few weeks ago I took my fully automatic MP-40 and Type 50 (Chinese PPSh-41) to an indoor range. The Type 50 shot flawlessly with stick magazines. However, the MP-40 was plagued with failure-to-feed stoppages with all 6 magazines. Since then, I ordered and installed new magazine springs and a new recoil assembly spring. Hopefully this will resolve the failure-to-feed problem and the gun should shoot like it supposed to.
if you were born in the 70s you know that you could buy non firing original mp-40s for about 60 bucks in the late 80s.My dad bought me one in 1984 at a gun show with the waffen stamps and matching numbers for 99 dollars. All it needed was a firing pin and it was good to go.stole out of a storage unit in 92.
Let's put it like this.I put a full mag of 9mm into it and cycled all out and they ejected just fine.the barell was not blocked. All it needed was a firing pin.Now about the legal aspects.Highly illegal if it had a pin

Great video. One point! The MP40 can be fired by trigger control. I have done so with other SUBMACHINE GUNS. You can see documentary actual combat Eastern Front films of this being done. One squeezes the trigger and immediately releases it. In this way the bolt moves forward, strips a round and fires. During recoil the bolt moves back and catches on the sear knotch. W hole not as accurate as a closed bolt weapon one can still deliver effective aimed fire when bursts are not needed and thus conserves ammunition.
I was very lucky to shoot a legal full auto MP-40 at a local range. VERY accurate at 100 meters or less, with a very low cyclic rate of around 600 rpm. You can easily fire 1, 2 or 3 shot full auto with this gun. One of the best open bolt SMG's of WWII, IMHO:)-Gearhead222
I've fired the gun full auto before. I was very surprised with how well I could manage the recoil. I fired two magazines, one in short bursts (in which my accuracy was pretty high) and one where I just held down the trigger until empty. The gun was not very heavy, accurate, and the recoil was very manageable. If you ever get the chance, you should shoot one.
Here in the USA, the leftist politician like banning ugly guns. Only criminals use them so in their agenda driven minds, they think that they are doing something. Full auto is fun until you need to take out a second mortgage to replace the ammo. Semi auto is more fun and affordable.
I see you are Hungarian too :D I only fired an MP40 once but it was a really good experience it had absolutely no recoil and it was comfortable to shoot with.

I think a friend of my Dad had one of these. Fully auto, completely illegal. About 1970 his friend showed it to me and my Dad. What I remember the friend saying was, "Never tell anyone about this, because I will be put in jail for owning it." I only say this now as he passed away last year at age 94. He was a tank commander in WW2, U.S. army.

The weapon is good machine gun. It naturally shoots low and to the left. This is good because it will rise to the right and cut the target diagonally when in full auto.
huh clever I never knew that about it. I suppose it makes sense because if your first few shots were dead accurate then the later shots would skew up and miss. So if your weapon naturally aimed lower and to the left first it will correct itself to the natural position.
I've fired an NFA-34 registered MP-40 on full-auto in Arizona a few times. It's a very easy weapon to use. The sub machine gun is a strange thing for those of us who mostly own class 1 firearms. Although it is a shoulder-fired weapon, there is virtually NO recoil. It is a delight for anyone who appreciates firearms.
I have shot a MP40 in full auto and found it to be a fun gun to shoot. It has a fast enough rate of fire, 600+ rpm if i remember correctly, and easy to manage meaning that you could actually hit what you were shooting at.
The guy on 4:39 aims correct. It is because the of the mp40 sight isn't calibrated well. You can see, all of his shots are in the same area. He is good on aiming, he just have to aim with the specific smg a little bit right and up. :-) It is easy to adjust your aiming to the micro mistakes of the sights.

The Thompson was very popular, as well as the grease gun later on in the war. This is obviously in contrast to the way the German infantry did it. Very cool. In the U.S., you can't even own a semi-auto MP 40 since it's an open-bolt gun (open-bolt guns cannot be made after 1982). Let alone have one with the original receiver since the BATFE considers any fully-auto receiver modified to fire semi-automatically is still a machine gun. Here, there are no semi-auto only MP 40s.
I was VERY FORTUNATE to shoot one in Full-Auto. My older brother knew a Class 3 dealer and was able to shoot the MP40, Carl Gustaf, PPSH-43 with a drum and a MAC10. I HATED the MAC10 (dangerous to shoot without a suppressor), PPSH-43 was very crude but did work Ok, Carl Gustaf was nice but nothing special but the MP40 was a BLAST to shoot VERY controllable which the MAC10 was NOT. It was very well made, hard to believe it was sheet metal and plastic. Between my two brothers and myself we probably shot more than 600 rds of various 9mm ammo with different bullet shape (conical and truncated) with NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. It had enough weight that it just giggled a little when shot from the hip which was so COOL. I wouldn't want someone to shoot one at ME. It's like squirting a hose, you see where the bullets go and you move it a little up or down or left or right to hit what you want to hit. 😉😁😎

There was some discussion about converting a semi-automatic MP-40 to full auto in the United States. Unless the receiver is already on the BATFE registry and was on it prior to 1968, just don't do it. If it is on the registry (pre-68) and is currently inoperative or operative in semi-auto only, you can have it converted to a transferable full auto weapon. If it isn't on the registry, you are manufacturing a new machine gun that is not transferable on a Form-4.
capandball I think you would love it here in southern states of US still free and still can own full auto !! Greatings from Georgia !! By the way I really enjoy your videos.
In a real combat situation at distances MP40 was meant to shoot (100-200m) no one has time nor willingness to aim the gun so precisely and shoot very accurate fire, because in a real war situation you neither see the target so well and for so long, nor you want to become stationary target yourself while you aiming your gun. So MP 40 is a perfect machine pistol. Everything is just perfect about this gun. While very precise fire is for snipers. Machine guns are used for most fire density from longer distances, so there's no necessity to get to even closer distances.

Legalábbis nekem ez a véleményem. Egyszer szlovákokkal beszéltem angolul, és megdicsértek, hogy milyen szépen beszélek angolul, pedig gyengén tudok.
Yep I really like that , great stuff mate
Halgattam a videót nemnéztem leírást és úgy a 10.ik másodperctől éreztem hogy Magyar Vagy :)
én is felismertem. :)
Akcentusból egyből megmondtam, hogy magyarok :)
Én meg halottam alatta :D
I had a go on one of these in Karachi, Pakistan.
It still kills effectively, if well maintained.
In soviet russia the mp40s shoot the soldier
capandball I think you would love it here in southern states of US still free and still can own full auto !! Greatings from Georgia !!
By the way I really enjoy your videos.
I really love ww2 weapons
In a real combat situation at distances MP40 was meant to shoot (100-200m) no one has time nor willingness to aim the gun so precisely and shoot very accurate fire, because in a real war situation you neither see the target so well and for so long, nor you want to become stationary target yourself while you aiming your gun. So MP 40 is a perfect machine pistol. Everything is just perfect about this gun. While very precise fire is for snipers. Machine guns are used for most fire density from longer distances, so there's no necessity to get to even closer distances.
Back in mother russia we call it The facist machine
because the germans used it
