  • @user-gc4bp7ur4h

    Hello! I just wanted to ask - what is the purpose of the filtering step? What is being filtered out? Thank you!

    • @MicroChemsExperiments
      @MicroChemsExperiments  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Filtration is done to ensure that any sort of interference will be filtered out, if any, present in the Ash. Ash particles, which are not dissolved in the diluent, may be filtered out.

    I plan to measure ash content and then measure mineral content and also heavy metals. For heavy metals i would like to use wet digestion method. In your opinion, do i need to make a wet digestion if i already drying ash from measuring ash content before? Thanks in advance!

    • @MicroChemsExperiments

      Yes. For heavy metal analysis, wet digestion is better method than the dry ashing.

      Keep the Ash sample closed to avoid contamination and prepare the sample from ash on the day of analysis in AAS.
      Or you can keep and store the prepared solution at 4-8 degree Celsius.

    in 7:05, if the color still black, does it mean the sample still contain organic matter? is that why we should add some acid?

    • @MicroChemsExperiments
      @MicroChemsExperiments  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right. Presence of Black color means that the sample still contains organic matters. At this point we add some acid. This addition of acid facilitates to break down the Carbon strong bonds making free carbon which can easily be removed from the sample by applying additional heat.
