Why China is REALLY Tying Its Ships Together

  • China has been militarizing the South China Sea, and one of the ways it's doing that is through tying its ships together. China claimed they were weathering a storm, but that was to cover it's true purpose. In this episode of China Unscripted, we discuss China's cabage strategy, US mistakes in the region that turned into massive problems, and how the US diplomacy in the region is changing. Joining us in this episode is David Day, the chairman of the Global Risk Mitigation Foundation, and one of the leading international legal practitioners on the Indopacific region, including the Philippines.

You're absolutely correct about ships mooring themselves together not being a legitimate tactic in a storm. It could cause a chain reaction capsizing vessels.

When I was in the 7th Fleet, USN, we were constantly having to chase China out of the territorial waters of other countries; where they didn't belong. Especially the Philippines.
I know quite a bit about China's assets, capabilities, and locations. If anyone is interested:

I would be in full favor of the US giving The Philippines naval ships, marine assets and a new trade agreement within NAFTA to secure peace in Asia. We need the Philippines to be as close to the US as Japan, Australia and SK. China has pushed too far for too long.

He did nothing cause the Globalist didn't want a strong Philippines, the Philippines is heavily Christian, Conservative, speak English and love white people. This is absolutely against what the power's that be want in the world.

I sometimes wonder with all these illegal fishing vessels sailing where they don't belong... It just seams like a great opportunity for money to be made by some equally illegal profiteers.

That kind of strategy doesn't really work in the modern era the way it did in the days of yore when a bunch of people with no nationality could establish a hidden pirate haven on an unclaimed and deserted island somewhere.
The moment you attack, a radio distress call will go out and the armed coast guard escort ships will move in and fulfill the entire reason they are there, which is to defend the maritime militia vessels.
Regardless of whether you could somehow disable all the radio equipment and perhaps even kill the entire crew in a 'dead kittens don't mewl' type thing before any of them could raise an alarm, the spy satellites overhead will see everything.
The stolen ships will have to make landfall SOMEWHERE since they can't just sail around in circles forever, and the moment they do, China will be able to demand the perpetrators be arrested and turned over to them, or have a legitimate reason to declare war on the host country for harboring pirates in defiance of maritime law, and no country in the world, let alone that region, will want that.
Even if you could just jump back into the sea once you're through, the only nations in the world with large and sophisticated enough submarines and amphibious special forces and a reason to even think of doing such a thing is basically only the United States and its allies, which is all extremely small and blindingly obvious pool of suspects.
I guess the reason why the maritime militia tactic is working so well for China is exactly that: they have the upper hand unless somebody wants to openly fight them, and nobody is willing to even entertain that idea yet.

I suggest the Philippines use a similar strategy as China.
Use machines to dig up the sea floor, and build up the land at this reef where the ship is.
Make an island, build on it, and inhabit it.

We need highly motivated individuals who are willing to do more than just complain online. It's why I started my own local chapter of ADV.
Every freedom loving country needs people willing to form Grassroots Organizations/Movements.
    1) To ensure that our politicians aren't putting the interests of the CCP above our own countries.
    2) To support human rights, and preserve freedom & democracy around the world; from the CCP-PLA's undue influences and harm.
    3) To elect politicians who will be on the right side of history.
    4) To develop tough on China legislation.
    5) To expose and weed out CCP corruption abroad.
    6) To foster the fraternity of NATO Nations.
    7) To stop China stealing land & resources. And take them back.
    8) Require the CCP to pay reparations for the pandemic
    9) ....anything else necessary

As an American I always felt upset how Obama’s administration handled the Chinese, especially over the Philippines, one of our my trusted allies. It drives me nuts when people praise Obama and his foreign policy cause he did a lot of crap like this, that put everyone at a disadvantage for those who are thirsty for power to take advantage of. Chances are if we had a stronger leader now, without a doubt seeing how much the Chinese are crumbling we would have stepped in and given the water areas back to the Philippines and the other Asian islands.

There's got to be a big money trail somewhere, if this was affecting oil as an example, the US navy would be breaking that up and sinking those boats, but because there's big trade money with China, the US has turned it's back on the Philippines.

    • @kate2create738

Exactly, it’s disgusting. One of the reasons I boycotted China, they had their chance to be a team player but apparently they cannot function as one. So it’s up to us consumers to change the narrative, I would rather be the Philippines ally than a partner with the Chinese government. We have a strong history with Philippines where trust is developed, something the Chinese can never replicate a fraction of.

I am no Obama fan, but let's not lose sight of the fact that at the time the US failed to back the Philippines, the US had been kicked out of its military bases there.

    • @venger910
      @venger910 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

FYI, The Philippines did not kick the US out of the Philippines, but rather both parties were unable to come to an agreement about base leasing costs.
In other words, the lease expired and US forces ... transitioned out of the Philippines.
Compare that to Afghanistan. The US was kicked out of Afghanistan.

    • @brunopadovani7347
      @brunopadovani7347 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@venger910 The US had offered $2B/yr in aid, on top of the economic input that Subic Bay provided to the local and national economies. At a certain point it became apparent that the real sticking point was the base itself, and not really the dollar figure. I understand the reluctance Filipino nationalists had against having US bases, but those bases protected the Philippines too, as China's rise illustrates.
