  • Taking cues from its older brother, the YZ450f, the 2024 Yamaha YZ250f comes packed with updates. Sporting all new body work, frame and a special color way for the 50th anniversary of the YZ model. Ping breaks it down and gives his insight on the latest model of the yz250f from Yamaha.
Thanks to Yamaha for hosting this event for us, for their hospitality, and their continued support of Whiskey Throttle Media.

Terry from Christchurch New Zealand, I've had 34 New Yz and have been hanging out for this one since I rode the new 450 chassis. Should be in nz beginning of November. Blues4boys.

curious if you went to 450's for awhile, then back to 250F's...? that's a lot of bikes.

@@yukonjon5964 I'm 52 but still do about 100 hours a year mainly mx track's and the odd cross-country couple of organized trail rides but I'm more of a gold fish like going round and round sending it lol. I'm lucky enough that a good mate has a Yamaha dealership and he rides my track and go away together racing. I used to up until 019 have a 450 for trail and training but race the 250f but now I've found doing less hours I just get the 250 as my lap times are as fast or some track's faster and I hold them for the hole race, not blow out after 5 laps. I also like being able too be aggressive and charge the small bike they just come back from anything 450s you have to be an athlete to hold the right body position. Still get the the odd holeshot in the vets against 350 and 450s but I always line up as far inside as possible as the 250 you can run it in late an still turn it in round the inside and be back on throttle. Just such a fun bike without out riding ua ability. It's like shagging a size 8 to10 as opposed to a bigger heavy girl if ua know what I mean lol.

Thanks Ping. I'm a 35 y/o mechanical engineer that's never had a new bike or a 4 stroke for that matter, and all I've ever had is the 2005 yz125 that I've been on now for 9 years. Would love to try one of these as I bet I'd like it, but I'm still renting a house and trying to find one to buy so I fear that I'd have buyer's remorse if I bought any new bike. Would be cool to have.

if it makes ya feel any better waiting... the new bikes keep getting better the longer you wait. your bike is a lot of fun to ride and cheap to keep going. just riding anything is the main thing, so keep at it or you will wish you had.
last but not least, if you have not had the fork done up, do. if you have had it done once, fine tune it again. the 125 deflects easy and needs to be valved just right. the fork can be brought to perfection and make riding so much more enjoyable. put a little time or money into the fork. if it bounces off of small rocks or tree roots, you're missing out.

Different riders, weight, skill level, opinions, are going to differ. Especially mxa, if it's not a ktm they don't like it. I never take too much out of the bike testing vids.. every rider always has different opinions. Personally I hate the pink and purple, but the white plastics and black wheels can stay though lol

I take everyone elses opinions with a grain of salt because MXA was the only media team to have a 2023 out there to test ride back to back with the brand new bike, which is the best way to see if it was really a stap forwards

@@stephdiesel2110 so Honda didn't win anything with their first year bikes? KTM? Kawi? 🤣 Cooper "would've" won the title if he didnt crash. Kenny won races and "would've" won SMX on a 5 year old Suzuki if he'd beat Jett. Hunter "would've" won if he hadn't crashed. Deegan "would've" ghost ridden if he knew he won. My aunt "would've" been my uncle if she had balls. I would've rode Factory Honda in the 90's if I had any talent. I would've been top 5 at Ultraman this year if I didn't break both my ankles.

that clearly shows how much you know bout these bikes lol no point in arguing with a fool. As someone who has ridden most of the newer bikes out right now, and as a mechanical engineer with a specialty in materials design, I can tell you these frames are not all the same, and the fact that tomac won races on this frame already disproves your original point.@@JohnHowerton137
