I want to do this for Map/Direction clicks too since our true "conversions" are phone calls and mostly physical store visits, and if Google and FB are not optimizing on phone and Map directions, they are not being optimized for our best measure of a "conversion."
Best video on this topic. Do we have to import call data to analytics to check if there are untracked calls. User who go to the website and manually dial the number.

@julian you should revise this video and reupload. This method will produce a lot of false conversions. There has to be a JavaScript variable that determines if the device is mobile, tablet, or desktop. Desktop users don't typically make calls so even if they click the link it's not real value.
thanks for the comment. Good point, but I would leave it up to the implementer to determine if these are "false" and how that should be addressed. I think it ok to include the device as condition as well

Found a script online and tested it on different screen resolutions and it seems to work great. Am now tracking clicks by desktop, tablet, and mobile users respectively.
At 9:30 you talk about creating a new trigger for GAds. Why not just import the Click to Call "Goal" set in GA into GAds? That is, when creating a New Conversion in GAds, just import from GA? (All my other conversions are imported from GA). Is there a difference or benefit to doing the way you show through a *new* tag and GTM?
GA is last click attributed still, so If someone goes through a Google ad, but doesn't convert, then go to organic search and convert, GA wont send the conversión to Gads cause it thinks is organic attribution. Gads tracking will country that conversion no matter what

It doesnt work :( Everything works perfectly when in preview mode. but once its submitted and I use a new tab, none of the tag fire and I cannot see the events in GA / Realtime view :(
Oh boy, another one tracking phone number clicks on desktop....Oh boy. And the worst is that people fall for it... Dear fella, try tracking phone calls coming from the correct device, aka a mobile...Then see if it tracks the event.

you can view the long term results under your behaviour - event reports

in google analytics, yes. But if you import them to GAds, only those with a piror ad click will be counted (attributed)
if you use Google Ads Dynamic Number Insertion, does click URL still work if the number has dynamically changed?
