- Dave Nelson's tells his FULL Story about suffering from an enlarged prostate condition known as BPH. It landed him in the hospital while on vacation. Dave finally finds relief with ECCO Medical's PAE procedure done by Dr. Charles Nutting.
Amazing, the advances of medical science and PAE is one of them. A procedure much easier for the patient than other options. I had mine done on Oct 20th. BUT, as Paul Harvey used to say “and here’s the rest of the story”. I’ll start with PAIN - for a day and one half after the procedure you will feel pain. Similar to a metal shaft being shoved from your rectum to your bladder. It hurts but after that time period it starts to diminish. Actually mine took 4 days to go away. FREQUENCY - if you think you had to go pee a lot before the procedure, wait until after. Easily twice or three times as often. BURNING - oh yes, yes, yes. FEELING - along with the frequency goes the constant feeling that you have to deficate but you don’t. Day 7 - pain is less but still there, had to call doctor for additional meds. But given the horrendous recovery of other procedures, DEFINITELY worth doing. THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. GOD Bless.
So how are you doing now ?
@servingcommonsense4379 doing well. Frequency is down to normal although every now and then there's a quick run to the bathroom. Still have a little bit of burning and feeling of needing a bowel movement. MRI scheduled for April.
@@edwardsierra4709 stay strong stay positive. Good luck on your recovery
Hope all that smooths out. I have done a lot of research and am not hearing a real tough recovery from Aquablation recipients. Statements lean more toward positive results.
I cured mine with the Keto diet and cutting out all diary, cheers, no drugs, no surgery
How long did that take until you saw results, Jim? Has your prostate volume really decreased significantly?
@@christophdenner8878 still in progess and has not been measured but definitely symptoms lessening, took 2 years of off and on keto and 2 months of strict keto with zero dairy
@@jimbeaver27 I started the same regimen a few weeks ago and will have my prostate volume checked at least yearly. Starting at 53 ml, which is clearly too much for my age.
I am also improving by cutting out dairy, one meal a day fasting and a healthy diet. Not yet back to full flow, but much improved. The diet also helps me with weight control and general well being. Another tip I have is to take cold showers or swims in the sea which I think helps with general inflammation. Good luck to all of you.
I didn't have BHP but ever since is went off sugars and more onto keto /carnivore diet my urine flow has increased to flows like 20 years ago. The accompanying weight loss is also a plus..
This procedure (prostatic artery embolization) is performed by a procedural radiologist. It consist in inserting a caterer in the iliac artery (right and/or left) and guiding this caterer all the way through to the prostatic artery (right and/or left). Once there, the caterer releases a number of micro spheres whose mission is to cause an embolism on a part of the prostate, causing thereby the excess prostatic tissue in the transitional zone of the prostate to die for lack of blood. This is done on the left side and on the right side, or maybe on only one side at the discretion of the procedural radiologist. The results are mixed. Improvement is felt soon after the procedure and may last a couple of months or more. I think it is advisable to read upon, ask other patients who had this procedure done and really make sure that this is the right thing for you. It is definitely not a cure for all.
Why do it if it only last on the order of months? Is that right?
@@justgivemethetruth I've known cases where it only lasted two or three months before the symptoms returned as before. That is why I suggest do your own research asking men who have undergone the procedure. I also suggest to look into the Rezum procedure as probably a much better alternative.
@@msotil
I was reading about Rezum and it is so new that there is not data about how long it lasts, nor is there any indication of how many treatments it takes to be effective and whether the cost they talk about is the cost to cure it or the cost for one treatment which may or may not work. I thought there were other methods than releasing microsphere into the body to clog up arteries. Putting foreign bodies into the body always seems to be problem in the long run, and especially tiny ones that are unaccounted for. I thought I read about other methods like stitching arteries closed or cauterizing them? Finding out about all this has suddenly become a priority, and I am not sure we really get the truth from YT videos. It's all about selling.
@@justgivemethetruth Rezum takes 5 minutes. It was developed in 2013. I had it done two years ago and still going fine. It is so quick and simple that it should be an inexpensive procedure, which is why it may not be so attractive to urologists. Previously I tried embolization; it lasted two months.

YIKES .... 2 months?
What I saw online for cost of Rezum was like $2500 ... and I have no idea if insurance will pay for that. Their standard is the TURP I think it is, but I've seen the videos on that and it just scrapes away your whole insides and seems like it does permanent damage to your urination and ejaculation. Again, I don't know and I don't know what to trust on the Internet because now almost all of it is BS.
Seems like anything they do, or qualifies even as a thing should last longer than 2 months.
Acute urinary retention can be life threatening! Don’t tough it out!
Agreed. Treat sooner rather than later
This sounds familiar ... AND HORRIBLE.
The PAE is a local anesthesia operation where you are awake and they threat a catheter into your leg veins and up and around and cut off arteries to your prostate and it dies back. I was reading about that .. and it sound scary, but you look find so I guess it works. Does it kill your prostate function? How are other things. I am just going through this and learning about it ... and it is all a huge shock. Never had so much pain in my life as that Foley Catheter.
PAE is performed under conscious sedation. Patients are sleepy but comfortable. No breathing tube. 90% of foley catheters can be removed 1 month after prostate embolization.
@@charlesnutting9036
I read that statistically a catheter inserted for 3 weeks has a 90% chance of a serious UTI, Urinary Tract Infection.
Also, the catheter itself can affect your sexual function, if you care about that.
Caution!! I had a PAE procedure done at Alate Health in Houston by Dr. Doe in 2021. It was a complete FAIL! No improvement to date (8/19/22) All I got out of that procedure was a lot of discomfort and an ambulance ride to the hospital with a blood clot in my very swollen leg! Spent 2 days in the hospital. Another Radiologist fixed the blood clot. He also told me that blood clots after that procedure are not uncommon!
Had a Foley catheter in for 3 weeks, the insertion was the worst pain I've ever experienced.
@@kennymadrid2718
Yeah, me too.
I am very worried about this procedure since I am not sure how long it will last. Then again, there could be considerable amount of radiation.
Radiation amounts have decreased over the years. We routinely performed the procedure with 300 mgy, about 1/3 of the hospital dose
TURP what a life changer for me.
TURP is a good option, just more invasive
Did you have retrograde ejaculation after TURP?
@@charlesnutting9036 Did Turp affect your ability to get an erection? I think Holep is the least invasive that lasts except for the retro ejaculation
I find it somewhat ironic that the doctor's name is "nutting".
ur not the first😀
@@charlesnutting9036 yesterday a doctor offerred me the electric chair. He called it something else e.g. electropulse chair or electromagnetic chair.
In theory it sounds like a better option. But I don't see people talking about it on YT.
@@timothysmcnamara5925 unaware of that therapy
I would have turned heel immediately
This was nice, but how long after the procedure did he see results ????
Hi Bob, patients typically have relief from their symptoms within 2-4 weeks after the procedure. You can learn more by visiting our website eccomedical.com/conditions/benign-prostatic-hyperplasia/

How long does it last?
@@justgivemethetruth just saw another video that said they had a good success rate anywhere up to 5-7 years
I wish my insurance company would cover this... they call it medically unnecessary...
everyone at the insurance company should have that problem, id like to see how fast they change the rules
fuckn assholes
We have about 90% success rate to get covered by insurance
Pity he couldn't just speak normally about what happened (the procedure) without the silly nervous laughing all the way through.
Exactly, its the procedure description that count, or rather what exactly has been done!!!???
What unkind, heartless words. The emotions of another, vulnerable human being do not deserve judgment. Walk in another man’s shoes before criticizing.
Just makes him seem like a real human being talking about a difficult topic. I know it's a testimonial to get sales, but I thought it seemed genuine coming from a real person. many would agree with me that's better than some overly polished presentation. Maybe you expected him to get botox and fake teeth, too.
Exactly what i thought.
