Hi I have a few questions. I’m 16 now, 2 more years to NS, I want to become an officer and sign on ah… 1. Does our eyesight and overall health matter to be selected for OCS? 2. Do we need / get to indicate our interest in OCS to be shortlisted, if so, how? 3. How was your NS journey like as an officer and do you have any tips or advice?
1. Your eyesight does not matter unless you want to be pilot. 2. Nearing the end of bmt will have this exercise to test your leadership ability. Do well for that. Another thing also is that you will abe asked whether you want to be a commander. Indicate you want to go ocs. 3. Watch my video of day in a life of an officer bah! Hope it helps :)
Hi, you had a video regarding OCS that got taken down. In the video there was a quote about attitude from the previous sword of honour. May i know what was the quote?
@@chionglun ok thank you for your advice! Btw I rly wanna go into command sch but recently I fell very ill high fever and all and had to stay out for 5 days MC total abt 7 days. Do you think this will affect my chances? Now I have to go for RT outfield and 4km route march
I know of people who fell sick and missed some trainings but still went to command school. Don’t be too disheartened! Just focus on what’s ahead and take it a step at a time. More importantly, it’s the friendship and memories that you forge which to me are most memorable. Just work hard while encouraging others, have fun and most importantly stay safe!
The main point of my videos is to value add to others so that my viewers can learn a thing or two. The title sound a bit wayang so that people can click on it bah
Nearing the end of service term in OCS, depending on the vocations open, you get to indicate your preferences. You can’t choose, But can only state your preference
Nope for army you can choose infantry, armour, signals, recon and more. Navy, air force maybe q early on in ocs they will start sending pp thr but can indicate interest if i recall. And commando is they will choose from the start after bmt or b4 not too sure.
Officers can be activated until they reach 50 (other ranks is 40 years old). Everyone must fulfil 10 NSman work year and 7 high key ICT. Once completed you would have considered completed ICT liability. Once you hit 40 or 50 years old in age (depending on rank) then you will transit into MINDEF Reserve. Until a person hits that age and MR, you can still be called up as and when required but it’s very rare. My previous NS unit has an LTA who was 42 years old serving his 2nd ICT. Turns out he went to an overseas university and then based overseas for work after his NS and was able to defer all his ICT during the normal age when everyone else is doing NSman duty. He came back to Singapore around 40 years of age and was called up for ICT because he has not reached 50 years of age.
All good except for the part on spamming for the push up. Isn’t that cheating? Isn’t better to really train and be able to do proper push ups than to fake just to get gold? Pls reconsider. I am sure you can help build integrity for people and leaders.
Hey glad that some parts of the video helped! I agree that proper form should always be done during training but I have seen people who train so hard with prop form like me at the start and still fail to score for the elise machine. The techniques use are tips you can try if the correct form still doesn’t count on the machine but first, you need to already have some muscle or foundation. For me it is to focus on correct form to build muscles and combine these techniques to maximise IPPT score. Hope it helps :)
Only tip i heard: Try to scem elliss machine as much as possible
Detailed and useful! Looking forward to more videos :)

“Admist all the unfreedom present here, the freedom to choose your attitude will never escape you.” !! Hope it helps :)
Just curious were u from poly or A levels? How were ur results like? Also, did u ever like took up positions such as section or platoon IC?
I was from poly! My results were above average and I didn’t take up any section or platoon ic role during BMT

I get your aspiration. However If everyone is an officer, who would be the sergeant and man to do work?
Not everyone wants to be an officer. This video is just for those who want to. There will definitely still have pp who want to be spec or troopers.
One word is suffice: Wayang
