It's amazing how fast you pick up rank especially if you have previous military experience! I am tempted but I did vow to not myself through that again. It's not the BootCamp or ocs itself that is the hardest but always being away from family and missing important events is so depressing especially as you are getting older.
There is the potential at OCS to challenge you, physically and mentally. I graduated in the 34th OCC in 1963. The physical demands may be more rigorous now but I believe like Pogo, you are your own worst enemy. You have to just do what you are directed to do and don't doubt yourself. That is the lesson of combat: just do what needs to be done, without thinking about it.
That's a hilarious story. I'm an enlisted Marine Vet and I remember in Boot Camp I forgot my cover and had to put my hand on my head to the chowhall and back. My son is in PLC Jr.'s, he left to Quantico this past weekend for his 1st 6 weeks. I ran into your channel looking up USMC OCS.
Semper FI; I got my Commission through OCS PLC Jr/Sr many moons ago (83/84), TBS Fox Co 6-85; I went to Enlist Boot Camp in 81 (MCRD SD); my Jr DI was my Sr Sgt Inspector for PLC Jr (83) until my BP got me move to another Plt; We did meet up in Week 5 when he found out I was there; Good luck to your son;
@@paulrodgers252 I4 & E2 OCS PLC Jr/Sr (83/84), TBS Delta Co 4-85. Seem to recall SSgt Alvin Griffin & GySgt Ford were my DIs at OCS. SSgt Craig Timberlake who would become MGen Timberlake was my PT instructor and Capt Neller who would become Gen Neller Cmdt of the USMC was my tactics instructor. Semper fi.

My neighbor graduated OCS going in as an E-8! I was blown away. He’s a Captain now.

Doesn’t work like that
@@davidmarod1018 yeah it does it just means he was serving in the military already prior to ocs

I cannot believe you were shirtless in BOBO, that is straight comedy.
Edit: idk if i would be able to keep it together if i was sitting at your table.
Yep… as bad as it sounds, it was worse to experience! Crazy how stupid OCS will make you
@@MrJoshHodge I’m going back for seniors tomorrow. Wish me luck. Let’s hope I’m not shirtless in bobo
@@Okaybub good luck bro
I once heard someone say that the OCS staff does a very good job of making the candidates wish they were somewhere else.
understatement
I remember going through the quigly in winter and had to break ice to get in 😅
Hi! (:
Thank you so much for sharing! 🤩
How can I connect with you? I have watched all your videos and I have a ton of questions!

Hey what are all the things you recomend to do before getting to ocs? like you said about putting your name on everything for the hurricanes
PT, hike with some weight, and studying a little bit of the academics ie all the acronyms.
What are name tapes? And could you explain more about what you did. Thanks!
Name tapes are physical pieces of tapes that you write your name on and then you put it on your gear so everyone knows whose gear is whose.
Name tapes are what we call pretty much anything on our gear or uniforms that says your name
Did the prior enlisted guys do good or bad
Good for the most part. 90% excel
We have very similar names
