    Allow me to explain the biology behind it. So, when you first die you enter what is called “clinical death.” This is when your heart and lungs stop working but your cells are still alive. When that happens the brain does not receive blood and stops working. I don’t think I have to explain that when the brain stops receiving blood it stops working. When it stops working all the other organs follow suit since the brain sends the electrical signals to the muscles to make them work. If you can cure whatever put someone in clinical death, all it takes is a defibrillator to restart the heart and an oxygen pump to oxygenate it (or CPR also works) that causes the oxygenated blood to enter the brain and, if the cells are still alive, causes them to function again, causing your muscles to work, bringing you back. The brain just needs oxygenated blood. There are no muscles and the brain doesn’t need movement so there’s no need to reset it, simply supplying it with blood works. People are brought back from clinical death all the time. If we don’t have a cure for the specific reason you are IN clinical death (how you died) your cells will eventually die. When cells die you enter actual death. You cannot recover from actual death because cells decompose and will no longer function (so muscles won’t restart and the brain’s neurons will not fire again) what they do is, lower the temperature of your molecules to the point where they can no longer move (they technically can, but so slow that it’s practically frozen) when the molecules in your cells can’t move, the cell’s organs can’t break apart, also called decomposition. Upon unfreezing, they’re still alive, although you face the same issue as before. In the future, we will most likely have a cure to pretty much every disease and can easily bring people out of clinical death. The only problem is now that we can cure what initially caused clinical death, we also have to cure the clinical death caused by freezing them, which we cannot do currently.
    There is a microscopic organism called a “tardigrade” or “water bears” that uses a similar method if environmental conditions are not ideal. They fill all their cells with a viscous liquid that holds all their cell’s organs in place so they can’t decompose (as freezing would do) which can keep them alive practically forever until the conditions become better in which they unfreeze their cells and they’re good as new.

    • @flargarbason1740
      @flargarbason1740 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@osiris_blanche The whole point is to keep their cells alive until they can find a solution in the future. The whole point is to research how to cure people who are currently alive, then use that to cure the frozen people’s illnesses.
      They also don’t have brain damage and nothing is “depleting” they are exactly how they were when they weren’t frozen, but just, you know, frozen. Their cells can’t die thus brain damage can’t ensue.

      Before your friend died and was placed in liquid nitrogen, he signed an agreement where he would pay monthly dues or a one time fee. Then he either had a life insurance policy or some money setup where he made Alcor (or Cryonics Institute or one of the other cryo organizations) the beneficiary. Some of the money obviously goes into the cooling him off, transporting him, and surgery. The rest goes into a trust fund. This trust fund is conservatively invested to generate interest and returns. The trust's goals are: keep your friend at liquid nitrogen temperatures (cheap), have enough money in case the cryo organization goes out of business to keep the patients safe, ie paying rent/utilities on the building, and finally when possible to restore and revive them.
      The trustees are paid nothing to do this. They are all volunteers.

    I remember very recently reading about the tragic but true story of a 17 year old girl here in England that was dying of cancer - yet longed to live. And what 17 year old in such a situation would not long to live ? And whom would not do all they could to grant her wish ?
    Her will was that she should be preserved by cryonics, in the event that she should soon die. The girl died.
    The girl`s mother wished to honor her last wish whilst her father disagreed. The case was decided by The Judiciary, which ruled that the girl`s wish should be upheld. Thus the girl`s body is no kept by cryonics.
    Alas, where is the girl ?
    She is no more. I do not believe that Cryonics is a solution to that which cannot be avoided. Ie, whatever medical advances may emerge, that girl is dead. She no longer exists and even if cryonics can one day re-animate a corpse, it will not be that girl whom once was.
    If I may, Rest in Peace, that girl.
