    Heyyyy lovlies,
    In this video I am showing you how it all went wrong. I had a very bad creating day weeks ago and it took everything I had to see this project through to completion. All down to human error and misjudgment of time and all of it just went wrong. Did I save it? let me know below I will be showing you what happens when Resin goes Exothermic. Exothermic reactions do happen and this is why PPE is vital ! It is vital always !!
    I am using Jesmonite AC100 to create a beautiful Candle Holder with an inlay and a Druzy alongside Resin.
    These moulds are both available on the website.

    I follow a great artist who embraces OOPS. Carolyn Dube translates this as Outstanding Opportunity Presenting Suddenly. And I can see that you, Claire, have embraced this 👏. There is no such thing as ‘disasters’ just ‘opportunities’ to stretch your imagination. Well done for rising to the challenge 😊😊

    It's an unfair question to ask "would we have continued with it?" - you continued with it because it's what you do - you show us your disasters and how to fix them. Me, I make stuff that I can hopefully sell. I would not have continued with it. Full stop. For me it would have been throwing good money after bad, knowing I couldn't sell it. But...I love that you finished it and that you came good at the end. And it is beautiful. Another great video. Thank you x

    That turned out beautifully. You were wondering what we would do. Here goes. I would have put it away for later as you did, cried and after calling myself an " idiot", then I would have gone for the glitter along with the tattoo/stickers and some kind of sealer or varnish and/or figuring just so it wouldn't be a total loss, brought out the resin again, already weighs a ton, might as well be a little heavier." then I believe glitter hides a multitude of 'sins' so I would have glittered it. When I am crafting, my house is where you can get glitter into every crevice on your person! You did an amazing rescue! You handled it with grace and courage. Thank you, Claire❤

    To turn a disaster into a success is a testament to your abilities as an artist…we all learn for our mistakes & sometimes it’s the best thing that could happen…the best thing to do is walk away like you did & come back to it & give it a chance to turn from an ugly duckling into a swan 🤗

    Wow! What a story! I really didn't think you would be able to save this piece! But the result with this tattoo is absolutely brilliant! So a big congratulations! And the colours you chose are beautiful. What a pity that the resin didn't work: there too, the colour was superb.💙💙💙
    I once had an exothermic reaction with resin and I can understand why your heart went crazy! I also put it outside in the garden but I still don't understand why it had this reaction. Fortunately, it never happened again but I have very bad memories of it!😏

    • @ClairesCraftyCorner
      @ClairesCraftyCorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ahhh the reaction really was due to the resin getting too hot too quickly ... and the best way to prevent it is to mix up smaller batches xxx I am so glad I saved it it very nearly didnt make it ha ha

      @@ClairesCraftyCorner Glad that I could return the favor of making you laugh! LOL. I had “voiceover Claire” in my head the other night while I was trying out yet another plaster of Paris experiment that started going really wrong really fast. I think the pot & lid is salvageable, but it definitely needs a good bit of sanding. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Also, I wish you could see my solution for getting rid of bubbles without having to do a lot of tapping. That would for sure make you laugh, but it works! I took the thick foam insides out of a pair of women’s vibrating house slippers that someone gave my son as a gag gift for Christmas a couple of years ago, and I balance the filled moulds on the vibrating soles to release the bubbles. I’m sure it would be easier just to attach the little motors to a more stable foundation, but that wouldn’t be nearly as much fun. 😂😂😂

I knew I wouldn’t wear them, but I also knew they would come in handy for something one day. I stashed them away in my studio, and here we are now vibrating silicone moulds. 😂😂😂

    Resin won't work in deep containers, use a shallow wide tray to mix it. Also use a fan to keep the resin cool. Works for me.

    That was epic!! We can't get jesmonite easily in the US (bummer) so I haven't worked with it yet. But could you have poured the Jesmonite with a type of divider and let it almost cure then pull out the divider and pour in the resin and then just let it sit until both are cured?

    I would have remove most of it, leaving only the mandala and use it as a coaster, but I don't know if that's possible because I haven't use jesmonite. Thanks for the video!!!

  • @frost711
    @frost711 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So what causes that to happen?

    • @ClairesCraftyCorner
      @ClairesCraftyCorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heyyyy Amber .. the cause of this was heat. Resin cures itself through heating up. Each Resin has a different work time. The longer you leave Resin sitting in a cup ... the hotter it gets. The hotter it gets the more likely it will flash cure or go exothermic (same thing) but the smoke flies out from it like its about to catch fire which is why the PPE is so important. This resin is fast curing 5 hours only ... so the work time is really reduced because of this. And ... I left it sitting in the cup too long 😢😢😢 I hope I've explained it OK xxx

    • @frost711
      @frost711 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClairesCraftyCorner so could that happen in a deep mold? I guess you would need a different resin for that huh?
