At around the 16:30 mark you mention that armor is the priority for shields. Would this be applicable to other gear as well? Say if I found "of the eagle" leather boots, would I take those over mail boots with lesser stats? Can't remember if you also mention this in the vid. Just wondering if +5 more stam/int on a leather piece would be worth the 50-100 armor hit at ~lvl 30.
Shield armor in FULL plate mail is +60% armor. In Mail it would be +120% Armor. What I am trying to say is that your Shields Armor is the lions share of your ARMOR on you character. No you level 11/X/0 all the way. At level 33 you just get a knightly longsword... at level 37ish you can go 2 hander... but once you are level 41 then you have Con and Sanc and can AoE farm 2-3 Mobs at a time using Knightly. Its because its FAST. Seal of Light/Wis is 1 proc per 4s of swing time... so at 2.0 wep speed it would proc 50% chance. JoL and JoW however are 50% chance to proc everytime you hit the mob... so faster 1 hander is better.
Thx for all the great info, playing pala for the 1st time. I’m trying to (fun) lvl and take my time, but I’m having a tuff time balancing questing and healing dungeon grind while maintaining the same build. Like a hybrid for both, until I reach max lvl then I’ll switch to full time healer. If anyone has any tips I’d love to know more.
Go the Stam / Int Paladin or Stam / Spirt Paladin Route. One can do it all... the other is a bit more specialized but can do everything except Heal in Dungeons.
I don't quite understand why we are using seal of righteous rank 3. I just tested and I'm doing more damage with rank 4. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Hey, im really curious about the weapon "The needler" with a 2.2 speed. It procs quite often and works with seals. Could someone with a lvl 60 classic era check this out? I wonder if it would be decent with high SP gear and Hand of Justice. :)
As a prot pally tank in hc wow (death=delete), do you have any tips for tanking bosses that have aggro reset? specifically talking about Butcher boss in scholo and last boss in LBRS. The only thing i have come up with is going deep holy/prot and using divine favor for guaranteed crit on holy shock as a pseudo taunt, but im not sure going deep holy is even viable in hardcore.
General Drakasath or whatever also comes to mind... Hmmm... I use to have a trick let me try to recall... 9/10 the BEST thing to do is for you to tank it until the agro reset, NOT using Consecration as it uses up to much mana, and when the reset happens you have a Druid or Warrior tank it and YOU become a healer. Prot tanks HEAL almost as well as well as deep holy at that point, same gear, same talents. With two healers I have seen rogues tank that boss, your healing + Holy Agro buff WILL cause you to get agro back at some point + Excorsim and all that stuff. For Drak (Final Boss UBRS) I would heal from the start of the fight with the agro buff on and when tanks lost agro he would be on me... which is fine.
Basically if they have agro rests = Don't tank, heal instead. Double healers trivializes a LOT of fights in Classic WoW, Drak is the only one I can think of where it won't be trivial but that's a 10 man soo...
What you are discribing should be impossible if you know where to go to FARM. There are 2 Farming Methods... 1 is to gather 4-5 mobs using Rank 1 Consecration as you run around to gather them. The other is to pull 3 mobs in and burn them down... then another 3 mobs and burn them down after a short drink. Why? it only takes about 2/3 of your mana to kill 3 mobs... so you drink back up to 2/3 really fast and do it again then drink to full rinse and repeat.
@@pallytime2156 okay so I guess 2h deep ret or 2h reck is only good for pvp while leveling if there is a lot of world pvp going on ? Then what for AOE, I gather mobs with rank 1 conc then once I got mobs together I use max rank until they die ? + mana seal and judgement to not go oom.
Love your stuff Pallytime! Question: What about Blaze Enchant (from quest in Badlands) on your Knightly Longsword for AoE leveling? Or lifesteal better?
SoR rank 3 being tje best is absolutely ridiculous hahaha. As a Paladin enjoyer that loves retribution style I wanted to level up this time using a intelect stamina "spell power tank" and this guide provided all the information I needed, thank you
Mmmm... Stam/Spirt is better pre level 41. At 41 that is when that is when Stam/Int is great. Lines up well with Plate-Mail Transition. Stam Spirt Still GREAT at all levels though... just different.
@@Mivadeth93 Unless they fixed it... its garbage. It increases the BASE damage of your SoR by 15% not the total Damage. So for example my Flurry Axe on my T2 Paladin does 22 damage BASE +100 Damage From Spell Power... IMP SoR = +3 Damage. Imp SoR does improve Judgement of R damage by 15%... Which is nice.
So I feel like I prioritized my gear wrong. Should I have a bit lower armor for more stam/Intellect? I was focusing more on armor and now I feel that was a bad mistake
As long as its mail stam / int you are usually fine. Armor be like 200 for plate = 100 for mail = 50 for Leather = 25 for Cloth. More Armor > Than more stats unless the item is REALLY out of date or its Blue Leather. For Hard Core more stats > as long as your shield is up to date. In truth their is a LOT of leeway in the gearing here. You can be in all leather and a Blue up to date shield and be good. Out of date Mail with up to date shield is fine. You are WAY tankier than you really need to be most of the time anyways unless you doing something crazy. Just take the warning signs seriously. If you get in trouble and had to use Bubble and such to live = You are screwing up somehow either in gear or crazy. But that's Hard Core.
I sucks. Very low proc rate. Flurry axe is 7.5% x2 with SoR and the procs can proc procs just like Ironfoe. I hit a shaman one time for 7 procs 1 hit was kinda funny.
Hey man, I love the videos keep it up your ramble and gets me laughing either way though. Good information quick question I noticed you have life steel on your main weapons on your 60 is life still better than crusader or is crusader better?
18.666% or 20% spell power ratio for Rank 3 SoR 1 handed (hard to tell which) Everything else is 10-12% per Rank. NO ONE really has spell power leveling until BRD at level 54ish. I wouldn't value it super high. Best gear in game = 300-350 Spell Power. (but that's PvP)
@@pallytime2156 yeah i won't find alot of spellpower on a freshserver. But right now on classic era i got enough gold to to lvl a (twink paladin, not for bg's but just buying the best gear that is available for my lvl) and i was wondering if spellpower if available was worth taking or if you would rather suggest to just take lifestealing and invest in stamina/intel gear. Thanks for replying so quickly
I was just thinking Life Steal > Spell Power on Knightly or Flurry axe for sure. Every Enchant is about = in performance for us. Life Steal just CHEEP and effective with 6.66PPM x2 SoR (1 proc per 4.5s swing time). If you got the gold, test out crusader fast 1 hander. No one really knows how it works. We all just life steal. Maybe a furry war knows.@@TulsaGaming
Lol? Look up any "Paladin vs X class PvP guide" and its me and only me making vids. TLDR is Heal yourself and you can outlast almost any other class while leveling. Super Easy. SoW is for AoE Farming SoR is for Single target SoR3 is for when you are low level have good spell power, OR have a really FAST 1 Hander. SoR5+ is best used for slower 1 Handers later on. Always check to see which SoR is doing more for you SoR3 or your Highest current Rank. Even do this in Naxx gear honestly.
@@pallytime2156 ok ok will do thanks for the reply, just found your channel and have been enjoying your videos. Ret was feeling clunky at 45 and this knightly sword build is super fun. I am mostly dueling my buddy who is a pretty skilled feral druid and I watched your guide and you said "just equip a shield and you can kill like 3 druids in a row" lol. With my ret build he was still beating me so now im gonna try this AoE build. Im only lvl 46 so I am mostly wondering if I should: Use knightly even in duels with SoR3 OR use a stronger sword like vanquisher's with higher rank SoR. Guess I will test out the dps for myself but thanks for the tips!
It increases the base damage by 15% but not any of the bonus damage from spell power. In theory it gets viable while level past level 34... with a 2 hander where you are using higher ranks of SoR... but it ends up being an opportunity cost issue for your talents. All that said... its STILL garbage. Level 60, no spell power... rank 8 SoR base damage is +24 DPS... and we are talking about increasing that by 15% for 5 talents.
I recently made a video on just that. Its "hard" in the sense that you need to learn the fine art of "Doing Nothing". Paladins are #1 Dungeon tanks but cannot raid tank do to having no tuant.
Just running through some theory crafting too, have you tested how the co-efficient of rank 3 works with the 15% increase from 5/5 improved seal of righteousness? Or would it be too much of a sacrifice of talent points if overall damage is not increased.
The +15% from SoR talents affect ONLY the base damage of the seal, not the spell power behind it. So for Rank 3 it would be +15% for 6 damage on a flurry axe. 1 handed mastery near bot of Prot tree is the odd ball. It's written that it should add +10% 1 hander damage but it really should say is "Most damage you do while using a 1 hander is increased by 10%" So you consecrations = +10%, your Judgements, SoR... stuff like that. Also I just tested it... SoR rank 3 has an 18.666% spell power ratio. I just made a vid but have to sleep on the subject. Rank 3 two hander is still 20% though. I searched some old dueling video photage I had and its just been me being wrong this whole time lol.
@@TimangiFanClub yeah I just asked minno... apparently both the 1 hander and 2 hander specializations increase Seal and judgement damage... not sure about consecration or anything else like oils
@@pallytime2156 Not sure in what universe it would be done, but could the (negligible) Imp SOR talent interact with it? And any other outside sources like engineering? I imagine pursuing these talents for a slight dps increase would actually just be a gimp to the class, but interesting to see how damage can be ramped up anyway.
What is the spell power coefficients for the judgement of seal of righteousness? Max rank and rank 3. Are they the same? Is it worth it to judge max rank then swap back to rank 3 for the auto attacks? Or is it better to just use rank 3 and judge with rank 3? With judgement, I was under the impression it is based off of your melee hit and spell crit, does that seem right?
Great video!! I’m curious though, how would you adapt this to hardcore leveling where you don’t have access to the AH? Would it be dead in the water, significantly more difficult, moderately difficult or easy to navigate around?
A bit hard to follow, but very interesting stuff. It'd be nice to see a more concise layout of talents and rotation. I get the fast one-hander and intelligence/stamina gear combo.
i'm level 34 with all stam/int gear, i still get higher damage using SoR rank 4 and 5 than rank 3. Was this a bug that got fixed or am i doing something wrong?
I know this is for classic era but what about Wrath pally? When I try to find any good info on AoE farming in wrath is all the same people giving info I can find on Icy Veins aka The times square of advertising.
i’d say most of us don’t get to the point where we have gear that makes us worth a damn. would’ve loved to see this in action as a level 41 paladin going to farm.
Uh... Skullflame shield has 100% spell power ratio on the life steal, but no ration on the AoE fire. Its considered the BiS AoE farming shield, along side Deamonforged Armor which has 60% ratio
Hey man, very nice guide! You earned a subscriber :) I wanted to ask if I want to start building towards the lvl 30 aoe build, should I start from the holy tree or prot?
I also didn't get hand of rag. But since the 4th reset of MC back in 2019 ive had an Eye of Sulfuras.... My guild made it for a arms war that quit 3 weeks after making the hammer.
Not at all. You grind way faster with a Warlock as Paladin. Best duo aoe grinder is definitely double mage though. Nothing tops double mage properly using tempo cooldowns.

isnt sp and mp5 more important than intellect? i dont really see a reason to have a bunch of intellect as prot pala since ur mana just depends on your SoW procs and ur not ending a fight with full mana either way
You can see my more recent vis for that but the TLDR is that you need all but 4-5 pieces of gear to be Stam / Int gear in order to do a 4-5 mob pull even with the Judgement mana pull back. Its like 70s of combat time... 9 consecrations... 500 mana spent on seals to get 1600 mana back in that time... 2k with other factors like parry haste, reckoning, spirt ticks... Need about 3k mana bar at level 47 = TLDR You will have 3.9k with FULL stam / int gear. Drinking at 45 gives 97 mana per second so recovery time after 5 mob pull will be about 20s Spirt gear and MP5 don't make a DENT this as you can't really out compete 97 mana a second. The bonus mana just lets you handle 6 mobs rather than 5 (theoretically if you could get them) But that's why its almost ALL stam / Int with 4-5 peices Stam / Spirt
Ok looked it up, and ranks 1 and 2 have 15% spell damage scaling rank 3 have 20%. Then when you look at rank 4, it only has a 10% spell damage scaling. It wasn't obvious in the video why rank 3 was preferred.
@@johanlahti84 I say it so often that I just get tired of repeating myself. Those numbers are off a bit. For 1 handers Its 13% for 1 and 2... 18.666% for Rank 3... and 10% for the rest. 2 hander is closer to what you are saying with 15%... than 20% for Rank 3... than back to 15% for the rest. The actual numbers VERY quickly become not important because whatever weapon you are using either Rank 3 or Rank 8 will be best. 2 Handers always use rank 8 while fast 1 handers use rank 3... and slow 1 handers use Rank 3 or 8 depending on mana supply. For example my 2.5s wep Rank 3 and 8 do about the same damage but Rank 8 will do 100 more damage in the judgement.

Good luck with aoe grinding on a pvp server. 45+ is going to be tough. The world is full of horde and you will need to defend yourself. This build will be great on a pve server though. GL
@@pallytime2156 I meant from level 45 and up, aoe grinding will be tough with all the horde around in the world with pvp going on. This is a case of Less Damage is More. 🤔 seems legit. Edit: Found quirks like this before. For a time during Kara there was some mage 30,30 build where scorch spam beat using fireball. Lag casting & fireball burn damage overwrite tilted to scorch.
The reason why kargoz deleted his channel is because there was some minor drama between him and alexensual and from what i heard kargoz got some nasty messages and since he has a family he just dipped out. (Also it is rumored that kargoz was already in process of distancing himself from the wow community because his family got a lot of harrasment from hc griefers because of him being partially responsible for blizzard banning griefers in hardcore.)
I believe Kargoz deleted all his videos, except the christmas special, because he got called out for doing something unethical. Something like exploiting the HC community to make money with his company. And when he got busted he admitted it, realized his carrier was over, and deleted everything. I dont know all the details but if you wanna look into it I think there are videos about it on youtube.
i havent watched the whole video but if u didn't know why kargoz deleted most of his videos, it was most likely because of the drama that was happening at the time with restedxp and alexsensual exposing him. This is the video about it th-cam.com/video/HGe0Eg7JvkY/w-d-xo.html .

Tldr 1-30 conc, what do i do at 30 and out, respecc blessing of sanc and aim for conc after?
No you level 11/X/0 all the way. At level 33 you just get a knightly longsword... at level 37ish you can go 2 hander... but once you are level 41 then you have Con and Sanc and can AoE farm 2-3 Mobs at a time using Knightly.
Its because its FAST. Seal of Light/Wis is 1 proc per 4s of swing time... so at 2.0 wep speed it would proc 50% chance.
JoL and JoW however are 50% chance to proc everytime you hit the mob... so faster 1 hander is better.
@@pallytime2156 Sheesh thank you for the quick reply, that answers my questions! do you recommend reckoning after picking up BOS?

Thx for all the great info, playing pala for the 1st time. I’m trying to (fun) lvl and take my time, but I’m having a tuff time balancing questing and healing dungeon grind while maintaining the same build. Like a hybrid for both, until I reach max lvl then I’ll switch to full time healer.
If anyone has any tips I’d love to know more.
Go the Stam / Int Paladin or Stam / Spirt Paladin Route.
One can do it all... the other is a bit more specialized but can do everything except Heal in Dungeons.
@@pallytime2156 awesome thx, going with your advise on the fast sword, its working great for questing.
What rank judgement of crusader are we recommended to use?
Thanks a lot. Your guides are very helpful.
With all of this, what is your leveling talent build?
Can do as you like at 60... or check out my "Healing in Raids is NOT what you think vid"
I don't quite understand why we are using seal of righteous rank 3. I just tested and I'm doing more damage with rank 4. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
That info is quite old. Blizzard Changed it about 6 months ago so that ALL SoR Seals now have same SP ratio as Rank 3.
So you can use any rank now.
@ thanks!!
@@MarianoGianni1 Level 32-33 Saytars (Demons) you can farm outside the Flight Path in Desolace.
Just out of curiosity, which tree do you recommend going into first, like lvl 10-30

TLDR = Holy... Get consecration then all in Prot... so 11/X/0
weren't the slides from his videos available some where seperately?
I started playing wow in late tbc, and i unironically rocked a int stamp prot pally through cata.
Great one mate helped out alot !
Hey, im really curious about the weapon "The needler" with a 2.2 speed. It procs quite often and works with seals. Could someone with a lvl 60 classic era check this out? I wonder if it would be decent with high SP gear and Hand of Justice. :)
22:22 quick question, why do you go anticipation if you say you like being crit as a paladin, would toughness be better for this build?
I though you got more out of it at the lower levels... but apparently you don't
Spellpower or lifesteal or weapon enchant
Should I start with this shield build as soon as I get my first one hand?
More like every paladin should have a shield and a 1 hander... swap to them as you need.
Do you prefer thrash blade or knightly?
You want the FASTEST 1 hander possible. Thrash blade = slow = AWEFULL.
Get both and test it.
Any good sets with a high fun stat ?
So if you can´t AoE farm due to, to many people on the server + pvp, we talking classic era now not hc. then what spec is the best and what weapons=?
You can 2 Hander in Classic for sure... its just not recomended for HC@@jarlfisk
Love your stuff Pallytime!
Question:
What about Blaze Enchant (from quest in Badlands) on your Knightly Longsword for AoE leveling? Or lifesteal better?
Enchants for leveling? No idea. The BEST thing about Knightly longsword for AoE is that it doesn't kill things fast. So make of that what you will.
@pallytime2156 what about improved SoR? I like the talent a lot
So 1hand and shield viable from lvl 1 or after lvl 30?
hey has the rank 3 ratio been patched? im testing right now and my rank 3 and 8 seem to be behaving differently than yours.
Yeah, when they changed it in SoD it changed in Classic so all ranks = same rank 3 Ratio now
@pallytime2156 getting sick of all these tiny changes, they're starting to add up.
Bro is in the dark on the Kargoz drama 😂
Can you elaborate or link something so curious
i know its hard to get but i was wondering if you tried out iron Foe and how it preforms against flurry axe
I sucks. Very low proc rate. Flurry axe is 7.5% x2 with SoR and the procs can proc procs just like Ironfoe.
I hit a shaman one time for 7 procs 1 hit was kinda funny.
ok thanks for the info and the great content
So Ironfoe mace is not any good for Paladin ?
Hey man, I love the videos keep it up your ramble and gets me laughing either way though. Good information quick question I noticed you have life steel on your main weapons on your 60 is life still better than crusader or is crusader better?
Hey pallytime! Is spellpower also huge for this build? Like engineering goggles/ 1h weapon enchant? Or is it not worth it?
18.666% or 20% spell power ratio for Rank 3 SoR 1 handed (hard to tell which) Everything else is 10-12% per Rank.
NO ONE really has spell power leveling until BRD at level 54ish.
I wouldn't value it super high.
Best gear in game = 300-350 Spell Power. (but that's PvP)
Care calculating DPS gains as magic damage ignores armor so 10 magic DPS = 18 physical DPS

Super Easy.
SoW is for AoE Farming
SoR is for Single target
SoR3 is for when you are low level have good spell power, OR have a really FAST 1 Hander.
SoR5+ is best used for slower 1 Handers later on.
Always check to see which SoR is doing more for you SoR3 or your Highest current Rank.
Even do this in Naxx gear honestly.

@@pallytime2156 oh great okay ill watch that. Thanks for all hardwork on these excellent videos.
if seal of righteousness is your main damage dealer, why are we not speccing the talent to increase its dmg?
It increases the base damage by 15% but not any of the bonus damage from spell power.
In theory it gets viable while level past level 34... with a 2 hander where you are using higher ranks of SoR... but it ends up being an opportunity cost issue for your talents.
All that said... its STILL garbage.
Level 60, no spell power... rank 8 SoR base damage is +24 DPS... and we are talking about increasing that by 15% for 5 talents.
Is it hard to tank as a paladin in classic ive never played one in classic
I searched some old dueling video photage I had and its just been me being wrong this whole time lol.

talents?
What is the spell power coefficients for the judgement of seal of righteousness? Max rank and rank 3. Are they the same? Is it worth it to judge max rank then swap back to rank 3 for the auto attacks? Or is it better to just use rank 3 and judge with rank 3?
With judgement, I was under the impression it is based off of your melee hit and spell crit, does that seem right?
Great video!! I’m curious though, how would you adapt this to hardcore leveling where you don’t have access to the AH? Would it be dead in the water, significantly more difficult, moderately difficult or easy to navigate around?

isnt sp and mp5 more important than intellect? i dont really see a reason to have a bunch of intellect as prot pala since ur mana just depends on your SoW procs and ur not ending a fight with full mana either way
You can see my more recent vis for that but the TLDR is that you need all but 4-5 pieces of gear to be Stam / Int gear in order to do a 4-5 mob pull even with the Judgement mana pull back.
Its like 70s of combat time... 9 consecrations... 500 mana spent on seals to get 1600 mana back in that time... 2k with other factors like parry haste, reckoning, spirt ticks...
Need about 3k mana bar at level 47 = TLDR
You will have 3.9k with FULL stam / int gear.
Drinking at 45 gives 97 mana per second so recovery time after 5 mob pull will be about 20s
Spirt gear and MP5 don't make a DENT this as you can't really out compete 97 mana a second. The bonus mana just lets you handle 6 mobs rather than 5 (theoretically if you could get them)
But that's why its almost ALL stam / Int with 4-5 peices Stam / Spirt
where can i find the full leveling build?

Wait you didn't explain seal of righteousness rank 3. How can it be less damage than rank 4 to 8? It can't be correct.

GL
AoE grinding for a paladin level is 4-5 mobs at a time. 5 is sketchy on fresh.
@@pallytime2156 I meant from level 45 and up, aoe grinding will be tough with all the horde around in the world with pvp going on.
