Aniram, yes!!! I could have talked about this film for an hour. You are right that that scene contains just SO much without even words. Hi Melanie, Thank you so much for finally reviewing my favourite movie of all time !!! You did full justice to this epic movie with your review, especially by taking account of Mani Ratnam’s inspiration from Mahaabharatha and by noticing each and every actor’s performance. You’ll enjoy it even more when you’ll watch it again on a big screen. If you want to see another movie where you can witness the acting skills of Rajini to the fullest, i suggest you to watch « Mullum malarum » by legendary director Mahendran. It’s available on TH-cam.
Review spot on!! We wished he did more movies such as this. It's interesting that Mani Ratnam has worked with with stalwarts of Tamil cinema only once, Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan, Thalapathy and Naayagan respectively. We wished they worked more together.
I am so glad you reviewed this epic movie. I was waiting for foreign reviewers like you to watch this movie and tell their feedback on this movie. you went one step ahead and tried to understand the story behind this characterization by Maniratnam, Karna, Arjuna and Duryodhana. One thing I want you to know is "Karna" is the son of SUN God in Hindu Mythology, and that's one reason why His name is "Surya" in this movie, and the same reason why Mani Ratnam shows the Sun in the background throughout the movie.
Great review Melanie . And you were right about the part where MANI sir had to tweak the climax a bit to cater to and satisfy the demands of Rajni's fans . The MAHABHARATHA is a very COMPLEX EPIC with so many towering and complex characters and teaches all the great philosophies of life. Here is a brief summation of WHO KARNA WAS and THE ROLE HE PLAYED IN THE MAHABHARATA.
Thank you for your very first Rajini and Mammootty movie.. Thalapathi has often been regarded as one of the best Mani ratnam's works.. Melanie, would you please review the movie palerimanikyam(2010) which we are requesting for a long time.. One of his best in last 10 years.. Would be a perfect choice for the review for an in and out mammootty movie..
One of the songs in talapathi movie has been named as the fourth most popular song in a poll conducted by the BBC World Service worldwide in 2002. The song is called Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu" (English: Rakkamma, Clap Your Hands) is a Tamil language song from the 1991 Indian film Thalapathi.
Thanks Melanie for your review. It's a such a classic epic movie good in all departments. Especially that camera work and music by great mastreo Ilayaraja Sir.. 👍
Also I would recommend you to watch the movie 'Nayagan' 'Mouna ragam' and 'Agni Natchatram' from Mani Rathnam's movies. Each one is epic and different from other movies..
Pardesi wow, glad that you have watched both those movies. There are lots of epic movies in Tamil for recommending you to watch, but I'm not sure how many of those have subtitles. Those movies includes directors other than Manirathnam..
Hi, love your reviews as always. I just wanted to drop this bit of information because you mentioned it in the video and seemed to misunderstand it. The Collector or the District Collector IS the official title of that post he holds in that movie. A District Collector is the Executive Magistrate of an area, usually a district or something of that size. He or she is the most powerful non-elected Govt. employee in that jurisdiction. They have executive control over most of the civil matters, and even the police to some extent. It's a position you hold only after passing the Union Public Civil Service exam, held annually on a national level. Hundreds of thousands of people across the nation write the exams each year, and it requires a graduate degree at the least to even apply. The exam itself, has more than one level. There are prelim and main written exams, after which the candidates that make the cut have supervised group discussions which are scored and then those who make that cut have the final personal interviews (I think). Anyway, this process is so tough that only a few hundred people pass the whole thing, out of hundreds of thousands who initially participate. The people who pass, according to their scores and ranking, then are placed into different departments across the country (administrative, police, forestry, foreign office and so on), after specific training. So, the IAS (Indian Administrative Service) rank holders are the top candidates in the whole thing, and the capable of those are therefore given that kind of an important office (District Collector). They usually have a high status and respect in society, not just because of the power their position holds, but because it is something they usually earned by being the best of the best, among an ambitious and brilliant group from all across the country.
I'm so glad you explained that! We don't have anything that would be a parallel here, and I didn't know if that was just the translation or the actual title. Plus I was on a plane so I couldn't look it up on the internet while I was watching. This is what I love about posting my reviews here - I get so much back from all of you, and I keep learning so much. Thank you for taking the time for a full explanation!
You're very welcome. :) I am constantly amazed by how much you're able to cut past the cultural differences, and see into the actual intentions of the film makers and writers with several of the stories. A lot of the foreign reviewers of Indian films, who may be great at analyzing the film itself, still have trouble cutting through the cultural references and its implications in many films. You do an exceptional job, and so I just wanted to help out with explaining the context a bit. :) Besides, that is a very important theme you might run into in Indian films, and especially South Indian ones. The politicians, a majority of the time, are depicted as being apathetic or out right shady, while these kind of characters (IAS, IPS, IRS rank holders) will often be the respected good guys. In many cases, even the protagonists play young people with those ranks. I thought you should understand the context of those ranks, and why in many movies... despite much more powerful politicians being not.. very impressive or likable, these Govt employees might be the good guys. It's an easy way, adding those UPSC ranks to the character name, to establish that they are very intelligent and capable young people committed to public service. For example, there is a new movie (dunno if it came out or not) with Mahesh Babu... where again, he plays an IAS officer. I think it's called Bharat Ane Nenu. You could see from the trailer, that he had the title IAS next to his name, and the movie had those themes of social service and young guy fighting the system vibes.
This is SO HELPFUL!!! in Bharat Ane Nenu I did not realize that Mahesh has this similar role!! (He did have all those graduate degrees). I have seen this in the police - Dulquer Salmaan was in a movie where he came back in Triumph as IAP I think was his title after being a ne’er do well as a kid. But I didn’t really understand it as the magistrate role. The way you’ve explained it adds so many shades of meaning besides the dry articles I looked up on Wikipedia.
I think that would be IPS, Indian Police Service... that's the rank the candidates who go onto policing get. That's not a magistrate role... just a high ranking police one. Those candidates, after training, are usually assigned straight to higher ranks like Asst. Superintendent or Asst. Commissioner and so on. That means they start out in charge of running a few stations or precincts.
Oh, and before I forget! This national exam, specifically for IAS, was what Mohanlal's character wanted his son to get in Thanmathra. Remember him collecting general knowledge books, news clippings and coaching his son from high school itself? That's because these exams don't just test your college major, but general knowledge and math and science and everything. And when the movie ends, and Mohanlal passes away, the final personal interview of that prestigious exam is what his son is giving to a panel of people. :)
Being a Tamilian, I am sure. You have seen so many Indian films than what I did in my whole life! great work. And please read Mahabarath(atleast lighter version) to understand what Mani Ratham have created. Without stylish elements, Rajinikanth became what he is.. just because of this film. I hope Super star picks these kind odd scripts often.
Hi Melanie, your review of this film is so genuine and in depth..loved it ..I am one of the biggest fans of Maniratnam Sir and Rajinikanth(Thalaivar)..also really loved your reviews of Pariyerum Perumal & Ratchasan.. you also under stand the motifs and symbolism greatly, please definitely review three another Maniratnam classics, MOUNA RAGAM, IRUVAR and NAYAGAN..want to know your perspective.
krish, absolutely she liked it....she told that she does'nt know if she could watch it again c'z of that evil smile of 'Mammooty' at the climax...that much intense....
You should watch Geetanjali - The only direct Telugu film from Mani Ratnam. It's till date considered the Best Love/Romance Story ever in Telugu Industry.
Ultimate Underworld movie.. Manirathnam, PC SREERAM , Illayaraja and CASTING.. Including ARVIND SAAMY techie genius from Chennai worked in this movie... it has an inspiration of epic MAHABHARATHAA...
+Pradeep Rajkumar The cameraworks for most of the Mani ratnam's classics(Thalapathi, Roja, Iruvar, Dil Se and Raavanan) were handled by the ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan. He is considered to be the greatest cinematographer of India.
You are the best just loved UR reactions and review....true emotions....keep it up....... Rajnikanth is a living legend.....get goosebumps when a foriegner talk so much truth about this emotional movie.....💖

I just stumbled upon your TH-cam channel today for the first time. I’ve already watched most of your tamil movie reviews!! Wow! Thank you! Your comment made my day. I have much to learn, but I have seen about 500 Indian films. I love Tamil cinema - it's because of Mani Ratnam that I started watching it. ❤ from Chicago!
that was a nice review, please also review mani ratnam and kamal haasans classic Nayagan which finds a place in time magazines 100 greatest films of all time.
Lord Voldemort I don't know about others opinion but Mani himself told that his favourite is iruvar years ago. I don't have a legit version or proof but it's true. No disrespect for nayagan and of course it's a brilliant film on par with iruvar
Lord Voldemort thats a bit too much I guess cause there can't be another actor like Brando for sure. as far as Kamal Hassan is considered among his movies like Anne shivam ,hey ram, moonrampirai...... nayagan is his all time best like vanaprastham for mohanlal. These two are the real acting pillars of South
Lord Voldemort yes nayagan is heavily inspired and best Indian version of godfather. Mani should really try hard to make films like nayagan and iruvar. I really miss that masterclass level films from Mani sir.
Lord Voldemort... in a way but the grey shaded character of prakash Raj can be seen with broken heart in the end. He lost his motive of life ....all these years they were conquering each other and suddenly the whole purpose of his life is on question mark. That was one hell of a story about friendship, enemity, love.
The film's original ending was much different, like the epic itself Rajnikanth (Karna) dies in the end after being shot by the villains and it was released in theatres, but the senseless fans were so displeased that they vandalised all the theatres and Maniratnam was forced to recreate the ending with Mamooty dying instead and the film culminating in a flimsy cinematic fashion.
Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja is a 2009 Indian Malayalam-language biographical action film based on the life of Pazhassi Raja, a Hindu king who fought against the British in the 18th century. The film was directed by Hariharan, written by M. T. Vasudevan Nair and produced by Gokulam Gopalan. It stars an ensemble cast consisting of Mammootty, Sarathkumar, Kanika Subramaniam, Manoj K Jayan, Padmapriya, Thilakan, Peter Handley Evans, Harry Key, Linda Arsenio and Jagathi Sreekumar. The music score and soundtrack were created by Ilaiyaraaja, while its sound design is by Resul Pookutty. The political situation of the time is portrayed from an Indian viewpoint in the film, and the locals are treated sympathetically.
There is a reason why You can see a lot of sunrises and sunset in that movie. In Mahabharata karnan (surya character) born for the sun. The mom was young and prayed to sun god and once he appear infront of her she wished for a son. So that’s why we can see sun a lot
Yes, a sad ending in this movie would not have been commercially viable. Comparing the other Rajinikanth movies of those days, he not getting the heroine in Thalapathi, in itself was a shocker to the audience of that times.
To be honest if someone else playing rajinikanth character... maniratnam would kill surya... if that happened I won't say anything... but when rajinikanth say yes to this movie... his just changed the ending... because his is fan of rajinikanth... he couldn't think of killing him... his say this in interview.... Btw. Dulquer Salmaan father is Mammootty... when his was doing it O Kadhal Kanmani with Mani Ratnam. mammootty was actually happy
The actual climax was Rajni getting killed in the end but then they have changed it as the audiance didnt take it well. (In mahabharata Karna dies in the battle and till the last breath he was loyal to his friend Duryodhana ie:- Mammootty)
Family of choice>>>family of blood is exactly the crux of Karna's arc in Mahabharatam, he is wrong & right at the same time, for different reasons,;Right because even after learning his true origins he doesn;t abandon his old friend & adopted family, he promised his biological mother that she would still have 5sons, he would either kill Arjun or be killed by Arjun;Wrong because he let his friend stray from Dharma(Virtue/Righteousness/the path)
Thanks for sharing this link. I've always been a fan of the way you understand movies from cultures alien to you. You're really good at that. I guess you'll always have a long overflowing list of suggestions that you can't commit to all of them but I also guess you'll enjoy a few of the Mani Ratnam's movies as below: 1) Iruvar 2) Anjali 3) Mouna Ragam 4) Agni Natchathiram 5) Nayakan (You may have watched?) 6) Roja (You seem to have watched) 7) Bombay (Find the original Tamil version) 8) Dil Se (Hindi)/Uyire (Tamil) (Watch the original Hindi version) 9) Alaipayuthey 10) Kannaththil Muththamittal (MUST WATCH) 11) GURU 12) O Kadhal Kanmani (You'd have reviewed already?) 13) Kaatru Veliyidai ((You'd have reviewed already) Sorry for the long list. It got inadvertently long, as Mani's career is nearing almost 40 years as a filmmaker, which no other filmmaker in India can boast of. Directors' careers are short-lived in India. And these are remarkable films in Mani Ratnam's career and also for Indian cinema. Please do watch and review. You're one of the best reviewers I know of. Keep them coming. Thank you :)
Media Matters I have seen many of these before I had this channel. My first Ratnam film was Dil Se and I saw Mouna Ragam and Roja at the urging of my South Indian neighbor. I still have to see Iruvar and Anjali. OK Kanmani is a favorite and introduced me to Dulquer which then started me watching Malayalam films to see more of his work.
@@PardesiReviews Wow! So, you're so used to Tamil and Indian films than we can see or we know of. That's great. I'd love to see how you review Iruvar. It really is the best of Mani Ratnam, his most uncompromising work to date. I do hope the upcoming Ponniyin Selvan by Mani beats it. It's based on a very popular Tamil novel you might have known already.
If you want to see the legendary real "actor" in Rajinikanth, watch "Aaril Irundhu Aruvadhu Varai". It's a classic in terms of Rajinikanth's acting, though I don't like the cliched story line and the old studio set filming.
Actually in this movie rajnikhant dies at the end just like karna in mahabaharat..but when the movie is released the theatres here are burnt to fire by fans and he has to reshoot it again and change the climax...

The character (karna) on whom Rajnikanth's (surya) character is based dies under unfair circumstances. May be movie would have flopped if they had gone with the original ending.
Rajni's Character was named Surya, because 'Karna' was the son of 'Surya', the son god in the 'Mahabharata'. Therefore the sun symbolisms. FYI... And Rajnikanth's character did die in the original version of the movie. But later it was changed due to outrage from fans...
Hey please watch Nayakan. It with kamalhassan... if you ask me rajinikanth best movie is Thalapathi. Kamalhassan best movie is Nayakan. They both Directed by Mani Ratnam...
Thanks for the like :) I also have some news about a unique film that i am a part of. I'd been living in Toronto since 2016, but for the past 6 months or so, i'm here in Kerala to be a part of this film ( which will be the first in a series of films that will be released. The point is to eventually bring together new talent from all over south india, to give birth to a new wave of cinema) called "Pathinettam Padi", which literally translates to 18th Step ( reference to the 18 steps that you have to climb to get to the ancient and popular pilgrimage destination, Sabarimala in Kerala. It also symbolises the transition of youth from their adolescence into adulthood, and the conflicts that come with it. ) The filming is progressing in Trivandrum, and we have some big names like Prithviraj, Dulquer and Vijay Sethupathi associated with the film, along with 64 new faces ( which includes me). The actors underwent extensive training camps in both acting and stunts , speaking of which, the stunts are directed by the thai stunt director, Kecha Khampakdee, who stunt-directed Baahubali 2. Hopefully, the film will get released internationally. Expecting a review from you if it does get released there. :) Thank you. P.S : th-cam.com/video/SmcoLjfLNZE/w-d-xo.html Just a glimpse of the stunt training camp we had. :) It's 240p but that's the best version i could find on youtube. Sorry :)
WOW!!! 😮😮😮 I just watched the video and it's amazing! Did you have to have a background in martial arts or gymnastics to be accepted? What was the process -- was it auditions, etc? So cool!!
Thank you Melanie. I did have a background in Jiu Jitsu but it was nothing like this. I had not practiced for years at this point. My story is a bit different from the others who got selected through auditions. I had been working in films in different capacities (mostly as an assistant director) since 2012( I had been trying to break in since 2008). After 4 years of no real progress, i had to take a hiatus to build a stable financial base from where i could fund my future ventures. So i chose Canada. The director of this film, Shankar, is a very dear friend, and my only mentor in malayalam cinema. He has an experience of over 10 years in malayalam cinema as a screenwriter. He wrote Urumi, Netholi oru Cheriya meenalla and wrote and directed a short film named Island express, which was part of the anthology film named Kerala Cafe. All these films are on youtube. As for this film, i just sent him a congratulations message on his turning a feature film director after years of remaining as a screenwriter in the industry. He invited me to be a part of the film, and i figured it will be quite an experience. So i thought i'd spend a year in India. I've been here for the past 8 months now, and it's been totally worth it. :)
th-cam.com/video/M53RSi-4_Lc/w-d-xo.html The first feature that he scripted. It's titled urumi, which is a dangerous flexible sword, used in the martial art Kalari. The film is about the history of portugese invasions in Kerala. It was a good period fiction film.

Melanie, would you please review the movie palerimanikyam(2010) which we are requesting for a long time.. One of his best in last 10 years.. Would be a perfect choice for the review for an in and out mammootty movie..
I added it to the list!
Excellent review meticulous observations which i realized after watching this. Thanks Mam
The whole soundtrack is amazing! Loved the music in this film.
Mouna Ragam was one of the first Ratnam I saw, on the recommendation of my South Indian neighbor, and Nayakan is just amazing.
Pardesi wow, glad that you have watched both those movies. There are lots of epic movies in Tamil for recommending you to watch, but I'm not sure how many of those have subtitles. Those movies includes directors other than Manirathnam..
Nayagan and Mouna ragam music was also by Ilayaraja Sir.. He's one of the greatest composers from Tamilnadu. Any comments about mouna ragam movie!!!
Shobhana and Bhanupriya are not only the Best Actresses, Great Dancers also...
Yes!
Melanie mam this movie is a one of the most watched Rajini sir and Mommaatty sir movie in telugu and Mammootty sir acted only two movies in telugu
Besides, that is a very important theme you might run into in Indian films, and especially South Indian ones.
Iruvar is my next Mohanlal film I want to see. Mouna Ragam and Nayagan I have seen years back and loved both very much.
Hi ma'am.. there long list epic craf by Maniratnam sir.. you should review all.. my top recommend will be Nayagan, Iruvar, Anjali
Your review is simply superb....
Nayagan is also another maniratham movie similar to God father must watch movie...
Nayakan is very like The Godfather, but with some different twists. I loved that film so much. Kamal Hassan was legendary in it.
I saw this movie when i was a kid.. Now after seeing your review I'm inspired to watch it again....!
please watch Munnariyippu malayalam movie starring Mammootty
I'm not sure I could watch it again, that grin Mammootty gives at the end is one of the most evil I have ever seen in my life!!
Pardesi don't u like the movie??
krish, absolutely she liked it....she told that she does'nt know if she could watch it again c'z of that evil smile of 'Mammooty' at the climax...that much intense....
You should watch Geetanjali - The only direct Telugu film from Mani Ratnam. It's till date considered the Best Love/Romance Story ever in Telugu Industry.
Please review movie IRUVAR of Maniratnam.Starring Mohanlal,Aiswarya Rai,Prakash Raj.
It's definitely on my list.
We need more such classics reviews.
Please watch aalavanthan.... Kamal Haasan.....
Ultimate Underworld movie.. Manirathnam, PC SREERAM , Illayaraja and CASTING.. Including ARVIND SAAMY techie genius from Chennai worked in this movie... it has an inspiration of epic MAHABHARATHAA...
+Pradeep Rajkumar
Cinematography of this movie was done by the legendary Indian cinematographer *Santosh Sivan* , not PC Sreeram.
but look like the same.. i cannot recollect with excitement when she did this vlog...
+Pradeep Rajkumar
The cameraworks for most of the Mani ratnam's classics(Thalapathi, Roja, Iruvar, Dil Se and Raavanan) were handled by the ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan. He is considered to be the greatest cinematographer of India.
You are the best just loved UR reactions and review....true emotions....keep it up....... Rajnikanth is a living legend.....get goosebumps when a foriegner talk so much truth about this emotional movie.....💖
Thank you so much ❤️ from Chicago!

Very honest comment.Good job ma'am!
Nice review pls also do Kamal Hassan and Mani Ratnams Nayakan which finds a place in time magazines 100 greatest movies of all time!
I just stumbled upon your TH-cam channel today for the first time. I’ve already watched most of your tamil movie reviews!!
You are definitely the best foreign reviewer.. you understand almost everything that goes on in the film. I understand there is so much background research you do to be able to relate. I am not taking about this video alone.. I’ve watched almost all your videos right up to Super Deluxe. You are spot on ! Do continue the great work madam :D
Wow! Thank you! Your comment made my day. I have much to learn, but I have seen about 500 Indian films. I love Tamil cinema - it's because of Mani Ratnam that I started watching it. ❤ from Chicago!
please watch Iruvar may be the best of maniratnam, could be the best of mohanlal and prakashraj.
It's on my list!
that was a nice review, please also review mani ratnam and kamal haasans classic Nayagan which finds a place in time magazines 100 greatest films of all time.
Thalaivar rajinikanth starrer movie ...thanks for your review.
One and only film industry super start Rajini
Nice review
Must watch movie Dhalapathi
We want iruvar...we want iruvar. Mani ratnam himself admitted that iruvar is his career best.
It's most definitely on my list!
Please watch and review Iruvar..
Maniratnam classic
It's most definitely on my list!
Pardesi 💗
The film's original ending was much different, like the epic itself Rajnikanth (Karna) dies in the end after being shot by the villains and it was released in theatres, but the senseless fans were so displeased that they vandalised all the theatres and Maniratnam was forced to recreate the ending with Mamooty dying instead and the film culminating in a flimsy cinematic fashion.
And someone just told me Rajinikanth dies in the Malayalam version, and Mammootty lives!
Pardesi I don't know of any such version, it no longer exists. The original footage seems to have been either lost or shelved for good.
Mammookka n thalaiva Rajinikanth💕💕💕
Please watch Baasha, one of the best underworld don movie in indian film history. Act by Rajini. Give your review.
Ultimate villan and lot of emotion. Friendship,Betray in love, .. Illayaraja and Mood of lighting... Average grosser Dear Mel...
Please see classical mammootty films Rappakal and valsallyam
Thanks mam for review review on ram gopal varma satya film indian gangster its a masterpiece film ❤️
Loved your review. You should do a review of Anjali a Tamil movie by mani ratnam
Good review!
Planning to watch Mammotys "pathemari" ?
I have seen it and he gives a very moving performance!
Hey. You should check out director bala"s movies. Pithamagan and Paradesi.. the reason y bc his just like maniratnam.. those two were my favourite
Superb and Awesome review Melanie mam👏👌👍💜💜💜
Rajinikanth would have done an epic death scene!!
I guess you'll always have a long overflowing list of suggestions that you can't commit to all of them but I also guess you'll enjoy a few of the Mani Ratnam's movies as below:
1) Iruvar
2) Anjali
3) Mouna Ragam
4) Agni Natchathiram
5) Nayakan (You may have watched?)
6) Roja (You seem to have watched)
7) Bombay (Find the original Tamil version)
8) Dil Se (Hindi)/Uyire (Tamil) (Watch the original Hindi version)
9) Alaipayuthey
10) Kannaththil Muththamittal (MUST WATCH)
11) GURU
12) O Kadhal Kanmani (You'd have reviewed already?)
13) Kaatru Veliyidai ((You'd have reviewed already)
Sorry for the long list.
Please watch the mohanlal stared malayalam movie 'Dhasaradham'.
really heart touching film
Back then mani was a legend now a days I would say no !anyway this a cult classic I would always cherish 😍
If you want to see the legendary real "actor" in Rajinikanth, watch "Aaril Irundhu Aruvadhu Varai".
It's a classic in terms of Rajinikanth's acting, though I don't like the cliched story line and the old studio set filming.
Superstar & Megastar on same frame 🔥 Powerful Movie 😍
Watch Kamal Haasan's Heyram too. It's a cult classic. It's available on Prime in HD now.
I have seen it and it’s so impactful!
Megaactor Mammootty
I felt tears in every Sean in this movie
Hats off
It has been said that originally Surya was supposed to die, but Mani Ratnam was forced to opt out...
Actually in this movie rajnikhant dies at the end just like karna in mahabaharat..but when the movie is released the theatres here are burnt to fire by fans and he has to reshoot it again and change the climax...
Please make a video on the malayalam film Devasuram,
IRUVAR is Mani Ratnam best movie ever should check it too
IRUVAR is a fiction about Two leaders MGR and Karunanidhi...
You should review maniratnams Iruvar.
It’s next for Mohanlal films.
Mammootty
Plz watch palerimanikkam.. A mystery thriller..
Welldone..maam

Thanks mam
Mam my request is for manam 2014 telugu movie plzz review
I have not made a video review. I saw it before I had this channel, but this is what I wrote about it on the blog I had back then. I loved it! moviemavengal.com/2016/10/26/manam-a-comfort-movie-as-delicious-as-a-mug-of-hot-chocolate/
In Mahabharatham Karna's father is Sun God. So when the name cropped up Rajani's charecter as Surya everyone knew he was Karna
The character (karna) on whom Rajnikanth's (surya) character is based dies under unfair circumstances. May be movie would have flopped if they had gone with the original ending.
melani you should watch kalyana vayasu song...it is so funny...
Hi please watch Mahanadi stating Kamala hassan. It will change your life. Its very depressing movie.pls watch it.Thank you :)
You enjoy BGM
????
Pardesi you loved that background music and especially sundari kannal oru seithi song but i am 20th century guy I love that song now 😍😍😍😍
Rajni's Character was named Surya, because 'Karna' was the son of 'Surya', the son god in the 'Mahabharata'.
Nayagan is the best Kamal Hassan film I have seen. It’s excellent.
But I don't know why administrator's parent chase him in all official visits and sneaks into official matters??
You should have seen the tamil version of Ravan instead :D Abhishek's acting is so tacky in the hindi version.
The Tamil version is on my list.
No. Rajini not died because the story is about the surya transform from dark to light. His mother is an angel takes him from dark to light. First he changes and then mamooty also changes

It is an amazing film!!
In mythology, Karna is the son of God of Sun....
In the telugu and tamil versions mamooty dies whereas in the malayalam version rajnikanth dies. For obvious reasons. :)
Wow!! I did not know that! Thank you so much for that info!
Pardesi its fake 😂
No malayalam version for this film..
It was a rumour spread when the movie was released. Manirathnam himself confirmed that there is no such version
There was rumours like that when the film released, but that's not the case to be. Even Mani Ratnam has denied recently too.
