I worked in Hazard KY. At a plywood mill there for a few months in the early 2000s stayed at the Daniel Boone hotel the mountains were beautiful especially when it snowed but when the job was over I was glad to be leaving wasted no time gettin outta eastern Kentucky
All my family is from lost creek...(Jones) Great place to go visit when i was a kid...Back then, you could even play in the creek that ran behind my great grandmas house...Miss it!! Great family to be from..I am very proud my roots are deep in the canopy of eastern Ky.
Nice to see someone posting a video that's positive in nature about Hazard and Perry County. we need more of this and less of the negative stuff that seems to always be reported about in the news.
Back in 1983 I was in the Job Corps in Prestonsburg, Ky. There were a few guys there at the Job Corps that were from Hazard. One weekend we went to a "Black Gold" festival there in Hazard. Funny thing at the time there were a few businesses there with the name of Boss Hogg. I had always wondered what ever happened to those guys I made friends with. I left in 1984. One of them was a short guy that had long blond hair by the name of Roy ( do not remember last name). Then there were these 2 brothers with the last name of Gibson, I simply called them the Gibson brothers ( I do not remember their first names) Hazard was a cool place to visit.
Though I never lived in Perry Co I love it! I am a Sizemore and a lot of family is from there! My Uncle Frank lived in Glowmawr till he died at the end of 2011! He and my father grew up there
My dads mother family from Glowmawr, Stacys was her name, I’m a Howard, Howard’s are from Upper Second Creek, I lived there in the 80s, was good time then, coal was moving back then, I did take the old coal road from the head of Glowmawr to Upper Second Creek, don’t know if can do that anymore, it’s been a few years since I be there, would love to take my girlfriend to Hazard to see where my people are from, still have family there, I’m from Northern Indiana, hope to do this soon
Wow, my family is from little leatherwood. My grandfather just passed away and it's so sad I have no one to tell me any of my family's history any more. I know my papaw was born in daisy camp. And then later on down the road upend up a body shop in hazard Kentucky called cecil's bodyshop. I was born & raised in Michigan but I know where my roots are and the blood that runs through me is nothing but eastern Kentucky.

My Aunt Ruby had a store next to the duck and sold Jeans out of it starting in the '70s. I think it was the only place to buy levis for decades. Does anyone remember her and her store?

I love Hazard I was raised down there and Im always down there! and Yeah that McDonalds is pretty cool. And do any of yall know Smiley Woolum? Thats my papaw!! Yeah everytime I go down there I have so much and I always get in trouble.
I've heard hazard is filled with a lot of crazy hillbillies lol I know that's a common rumor but I heard this from a woman that ran from there and moved in below me when I rented an apartment in an old building in downtown Cincinnati. She was running from her boyfriend and his family. They all threatened to kill her she said. This lady was shaking while telling me this story. So you can just imagine what was going through my mind being a city girl. She did say it was in a holler so obviously that's a lot different than the rest of the population there. She said she found out her boyfriend's parents were sister and brother and it freaked her out and he beat her all the time too. Idk I've heard nothing but bad stuff about it. I had a friend from Hazard in highschool also told me it was a hick town filled with druggies n' incestual sickos. I just wanted to see for myself. Seems like a nice sleepy little town from this video.

Recently drove down there to look at a house. Very affordable but seemed to be no jobs. I am very conservative but don't feel like I was welcome because of my northern accent...haha
Nice video, but Combs is not part of Hazard. Combs has its' own post office. The last time I drove on old 80, Combs was not inside the city limits of Hazard...
and I am not trying to make it look dangerous because the coal mines kind of went down the drug crimes kind of went up and it's sad I want it to be fixed
its one of the most crime driven areas around dont forget to tell the sleeping sheep that also buddy!!! i know go on the defensive path now....ITS THE SAME EVERYWHERE!!! dont think so!!!!
