Well, FYI, I guarantee that Part 2 and beyond will utilize the new technological capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 (since this game was made with UE4 and they can literally just transfer over Part 2's development to UE5 easily, Epic themselves said it's an easy transition), and Nanite(UE5's new geometry engine) is not just for geometry, it's for any asset in the game (including things like doors, garbage cans, buildings, wine bottles in the bar, etc.) and can render it at pixel level triangles (since all of these assets and stuff in the game are made with triangles if you didn't know), that means that literally every single thing in the game will be movie level quality in detail and geometry, NOT to mention that they can use 8k textures instead of 4k or lower. 8k textures are what they use to add textures to these assets in CGI movies, if you go check out trailers for Unreal Engine 5, it's out now for early access and a lot of people are making content in it on TH-cam, I GUARANTEE Square is gonna use that technology for Part 2. Reason being that it's not only great technology, it LITERALLY makes it easier for them to develop the game, in UE4 they had to make different lower quality versions of these assets and that takes so much type optimizing and making sure the assets arent too detailed or it affects framerate (30 FPS, 60 FPS, etc.) but with nanite, they can literally make an asset as detailed as they want and then drag and drop it into the game, and it BARELY affects the games performance, it's incredible! Also they can use Lumen to dynamically (meaning light changes with changes in the environment) light the world with the click of a button literally, since now Part 2 is starting outside of Midgar. Unreal Engine 5 is ALSO capable of creating massive worlds kilometers in length with ease, unlike UE4. I am SOOO excited, I'm gonna piss my pants! :D
@@FullmetalX4 thats what he said it is STILL being hold back by PS4.. since it relies on the PS4 version. They needed to remake everything from the PS4 version in order to be much better looking. And you say plenty of games have better textures on PS4.. i guess no openworld games.
@@Coldsilfur4 Well most of the open wordl i played had better textures overall. On PS4. Not so good like some in FF VII, like character models. But overall better. Maybe they saved time and money on these asstes. Hmm, but yeah still Unreal is cross gen engine so maybe there is limited power to that, not having strict engine for a console, I dont know.
Everything looked a bit flat, fake, and "glossy" in the original (or just low res like a lot of wooden objects), but it was mostly small things. I'm glad they fixed this. Makes everything look so much better.
I actually played the remake again on the ps5 and it's breathe taking sometimes such a beautiful game, is it perfect nope but far more good then bad. And definitely an improvement over the ps4 version for sure.
They basically sold the correct textures for 70 dollars and say ps4 couldn't handle them... Uncharted 4, TLOU2, God of War, Horizon, Death Stranding and like 26 more games with much larger worlds say "Hi".... This is a f#king scam!
Is the below midgard 360 image mosaic fixed? Because in PS4 you can see the cut of the images that make the panoramic of midgard and thats is so weird for a game of this quality. Is a very lame work there.
How are people still complaining about this game... this isn’t towards the video, but towards the comments. You’re acting like this game looks like crap, when it’s literally one of the best looking games of the last few years. The amount of things jammed into a single scene, the heart and passion clearly put into this is absolutely insane, but since it’s such a huge project, low res textures and low poly models here and there are of course gonna happen. Stop being so nitpicky about such meaningless things when the experience given to you by this game was so meaningful 🙄
It's obvious that there are areas of the game that got a lot more polish then others, then all of the random NPCs look like crap. It aint bad to point that observation out. Stop being such a uptight fanboy.
I love the game, but it has some terrible textures in it. The game and story plays great though, but there is no denying it looks ps3 at certain times.
I think there was an issue with the engine fully rendering the textures on the ps4s hardware. Unreal is good at scaling things down to get it all to work at consistent frames so it would make sense if all they did was package the game with higher internal specs and released it again. It looks so much better now
Great comparison! I have already completed FFVII on my old PS4 but now I have a PS5 Console (and the PS5 version of FFVII) I'm considering going through it again for the updated quality- Cheers👍👍👍

Here to comment on the thumbnail. The reddish haze on the PS4 reflected the desert winds and the low setting of the Sun. The PS5 version doesn't have any environmental impact. That's just my opinion.
Even on PS4 Pro, the textures are still blurry. Nice how the PS5’s rendering can make them look way better. Also what song did you use for the video? It’s catchy

Something I found interesting about this video is that the character models of the main protagonist were high quality, even in the original PS4 version. @@crescentmoon256 Because the assets and budget is 2013 PS4 hardware in mind. SURELY, you can understand that is the case why. It’s still going to look last gen in these aspects because they could only upres the textures and add better lighting, better AO, shadow quality etc. The only way it could look a leap ahead of these assets you’re complaning about is if it’s built from the ground up on PS5. You…..understand that, right? If they wanted to make it look current gen, they would literally have to remake these assets from scratch and impliment them. Too much time. The game is already out. :D
guess we'll see part 2 in 2-3 years then
@@limegpt its gonna b worth the wait trust me
You got me pumped for UE5!
@@MemeNess Yay! good! cause im pumped and ive been studying the technology!
You can tell it’s still being held back by PS4
A lot of it still looks bad so not really, plenty of UE4 games had better textures than this on the same console.
I think the video ram on PS4 is not enough for this game
cpu......
without seeing them side by side i didn't notice PS5 being a vast improvement texture wise....but wow. It certainly is. Man, what a great game.
Sorry i looked at Tifa, forgot the wine and door
Everything looked a bit flat, fake, and "glossy" in the original (or just low res like a lot of wooden objects), but it was mostly small things. I'm glad they fixed this. Makes everything look so much better.
I think it's funny we went from ogling the good textures to ogling the bad ones
Im playing on ps5 and in the sector 5 slums with aaerith there are alot of ps2 even ps1 era textures it looks so bad and they never load in.
Still better than Cyberpunk
Thanks God they fixed the door texture…. It was a disaster larger than the meteor itself.
I feel the ps4 is capable of rendering a door in HD or something...I've seen it in other games lmao
Probably had to cut back somewhere to make everything else look good. Just like Spider-Man ps4 when you look through the windows and see a 2d house. Or when you swing high up npcs turn into stick people.
@@NYCKZ360 I can understand open world games because there's so much to render but FFVII is a narrow single player game. Not that much is being rendered at once comparatively.
The game has a lot of different assets and textures and the ps4 has a pretty weak CPU so i'm guessing the performance was bottlenecking.
@Orange Guy Ending is pre-rendered CG
@@NYCKZ360 yes it is, but because of poor optimizations the door appeared like that.
I'm not a graphics guy, gameplay is more important still play alot of older games, but the graphics in FF7 except the character models looked like PS2 sometimes.
FFX had better background textures. (Best Game)
It’s funny how much bickering went into the graphics. I thought everything was beautiful- comparing to OG game. The story was what was important for me. And they kind of messed it up
And one day maybe even sooner than we think, theses new and improved graphics will look bad to us
I was hoping for fix for the reflection in the mirror for PS5. :(
Happy that you can actually read the signs now and that the city shots like 10:40 look less like jpegs.
Texture? As long as Tifa looks perfect, I couldn't care less. Been playing this game in lego polygon my entire life.
It’s catchy
Yall using performance mode or 4k
I prefer 60fps
Perf
I dont know the low res vibe gave the game a ps1 vibe while also a next gen vibe almost like you're playing the new version of cloud but also the old world version of the world.
i'm sorry, but is it just me or the ps5 version has some lighting issues in specific scenes like in the bar scene where Tifa's skin is a drastically different tone? i feel like the lighting's warmer in ff7r og and not a big issue, just something that bothers me since i' so used to the warm shade in the normal ff7r
Hi,
Detailed vid 👌
What's the music please?

@@GAMERNANJANG cheers! 👌👍😇😁
Something I found interesting about this video is that the character models of the main protagonist were high quality, even in the original PS4 version. The problem was that the rest of the world, except for Shinra Headquarters looked like a low-resolution mod. I’m glad I can finally experience this game the right way on my PS5. 😂🤌🏾
I Agree, this is how it should look like on PS4 pro ._.
The only that is next gen is the fog & improved lighting
I wouldn't be so happy if I were you. Playstation 5 still has a lot of poor quality textures
@@hfhdjfjhdfjhfd This is a PlayStation 4 game at its core. All I need this game to do is run on my PlayStation 5 that way I can have all the FF7 episodes in one place. That’s it. If you’ve played the ps4 version of this game then you should know how terrible texture pop in low resolution npc and load time were. I have both versions of the game and a difference
On the Ps4 Pro during the first mission in reactor #1 the resolution/textures looked good also. But yeah I do agree with you
@@mono_art143 with that big of a game, and having it that high of resolution consistency, the ps4 pro capacity wouldn't have made it. It is all about the technical max capacity.
Honestly im amazed it even runs well on ps4
Ps4 is pretty strong
@@YuzukiEba it is okay but i wouldnt call it strong
@@shinjid3705 for a 2013 system it's still pretty impressive it can run games such as rdr2 and the Witcher 3
@@justyouraveragegamer5065 it still had some performance issues. At least the slim. The ps5 is a real beast compared to the ps4 non pro versions. U cant even have too many apps opened because the UI would become super laggy.
You have to play God of War or Ghost or Tsushima on PS4 Pro. That games look amazing, I think a bit more than FF7.
Amazing video! Thank you!
This question is for anyone who knows the answer....if this comes out for pc, could the skyboxes be modified? Because for me most of them simply don't look right, even on the ps5 version.
The character model for tifa looked better on PS4 for certain shots, aside from that major improvements
Nice comparison..showed the difference between 2 versions of FF7..
Even on ps5 version while playing im wondering if my game is broken cause some of the textures from the ps2 days
Regardless of the texture issues from the PS4; this game simply uses low quality assets. Especially, the texture maps, but also low poly meshes.
Overall I'm pretty happy with this I gotta say! I just wish they would have fixed the flowers of the church up a biiiit more. Oh well :)
Maybe PS6 version :')
They'd have to remake the remake to give better textures... I'm guessing part 2 will have better fleshed out textures whenever that gets released 🥴🥴
Ps5 ver's name should be FF7R:Remasterd lol
Toughest problem for the ps4 is that they can't give big textures to everything and because of how large and detailed everything is alot of the stuff they hoped we wouldn't notice gets well noticed.
The changes evident from watching Midgar up top to the night time lighting effects (specifically 7:40) has convinced me to pay for and play a game I've already platinumed all over again.. thanks SE 😅
Dude the upgrade is free
I am playing it on my ps5 but some texture is still ps2 standard. In Japan, only capcom is the only one that can keep up with each hardware gen.
That daamn door really bothered me lmao
Thank you, my favorite it the cloud door sure but new texture at 10min51 i say yeah baby
They fixed the JPEG background during the climb to Shinra? Thank god!
I thought I was on crazy pills when I first saw that on PS4. It was very noticeable.
The ps4 would probably have fps drop issues if they upgrades the ps4 too
i honestly think there is a bug in the code, pc version with mods is the only thing that might save this game
What's there to 'save' this game when it works as intended, sure mods will help, unlike that POS that was OVERHYPE 2077 that one will never be saved.
@@arvinjay336 look a the textures, even on the ps5 they are so low quality
@@crescentmoon256 Because the assets and budget is 2013 PS4 hardware in mind. SURELY, you can understand that is the case why.
It’s still going to look last gen in these aspects because they could only upres the textures and add better lighting, better AO, shadow quality etc. The only way it could look a leap ahead of these assets you’re complaning about is if it’s built from the ground up on PS5. You…..understand that, right? If they wanted to make it look current gen, they would literally have to remake these assets from scratch and impliment them. Too much time. The game is already out. What they did was just a quality update to what already exists.
Part II will see a generational leap. Calm down and stop being dumb about it. Game still looks wonderful in its own right…
@@wizardsandwarriorz the textures are not last gen they are not appearing as intended even with a dedicated ps5 version
how can ffxv has better quality assets than this game and that game also runs on 2013 hardware, its not about the quality of assets its about how its resolved so you calm the fuck up and stop damage controlling
@@crescentmoon256 The textures do still look BAD, I’m not disputing that. My point still stands and makes sense. Also, FFXV is running on Luminous Engine and FFVIIR is Unreal 4. A lot of different deciding factors are at play.
Just wait until Part II, it’ll be leagues ahead. Have a good day, sir.
I take it the free PS5 upgrade for physical PS4 copies is the full intergrade experience other then having to buy Yuffie DLC separate? I just got a PS5 and tried the free upgrade from my physical PS4 copy and honestly wasn't seeing much difference even though I originally played on a launch PS4 and not the PS4 Pro. I tired both performance and resolution mode or whatever on PS5 and didn't notice anything much. Yes I was using the actual PS5 update as it said PS5 and I started earning trophy again in a second trophy list. Wouldn't mind getting a physical PS5 copy since I have to buy the Yuffie DLC anyway if I could get physical cheap enough. No way would I pay like $70 for a game I already own and now have the PS5 version of for free just to get DLC that cost $20 by itself for PS4 users on PS5.
Bruh, does anyone know what happened to the PS4 version? I've heard Square Enix saying it was a problem with Unreal Engine but I don't trust them considering that every big game made there are extremely beautiful
They clearly cut a shit tonne of corners, this was obvious when they had cyberconnect originally doing this game. This is a cash grab and always has been, the quality we got only further lends itself to this notion.
コルネオの館のとこはかなり質感が向上してますね。
逆に洗面器や9:10のところは同じような感じに見えます。
Good video, the game is much improved on the already pretty original.
How? All they did was make it brighter on the ps5 and it looks a lot uglier.
At least the ps5 versions running at 60fps but Jesus the fact they just went with a brighter picture makes me wanna go back to the PS4 version lmao. Hurts my eyes!
@@aaronz4307 I know right? too much oversaturation and bleaching of the colors. and the stupid fog effect they added was pointless and it makes the game look worse.
@@Ex-Soldier23 lol
@@aaronz4307 Well you're certainly in the minority. Most textures are improved, some dramatically, such as weapons on characters, functioning HDR, pop-in much reduced. Too bright? In the sewers, in the section without power, it's now jet black. Turn down your brightness, or maybe invest in a good 4k monitor/TV.
Pretty nice. Hopefully each release of the remake improves and builds off one another.
ive got over 100 hours into the ps4 game and i knew things look bad but when you put it next to the ps5 ... damn lol
I'm surprised people weren't whining about how bad the textures were when the Ps4 version came out. Especially where you could see the the town down below when you were up on the plate. Looked terrible. I remember being disappointed.
1:02 some parts of the sink are rounder on PS4, which makes me hesitate to judge if the PS5 version is really better..
Man I can't wait to get a ps5 when they aren't like $900 or are actually available
The ps5 is pretty fun right now now but in 2022 it should be better because there would be less delays and more consoles available
4:38 what is this supposed to be anyway? Why flowers still look so bad 😩
Some individual objects had better graphic on ps1 og, still overall the ps5 version brings it to another lvl of gameplay experience 👏👍
Its preference
Because honestly the game on a base ps4 is actually impressively stunning.
If these are "bad" textures I'm curious to see what people's thoughts are on PS1 and retro games. Our gaming generation is disgustingly spoiled
problem is inconsistency rather than it just bad xD. Ps1 consistently bad so less jarring if that makes sense.
so im assuming ff7 rm intergrade is not available for ps4?
This is cool and all but like does it really make that much of a difference?
For me this old looking graphics feels nostalgic. Its like I am still playing the original game.
I don’t see much difference between ps4 and ps5.
And I think there is still some perspective and lighting issues at the end of the game (sector ruins). This is the most stunning failure still. I was expecting more progress on that area
They still have some work to do on those textures. The rest seems pretty nice!
Most of them are okay now, but the one at 9:40 hasn't got any update and that's the first thing you see when you arrive in Sector 7. That's a problem.
if this releases on pc those textures will be a thing of the past
@@RanmaEX skyboxes included do you think?

I was really amazed by how many low res textures there are in a, what is it, 80 GB game, that claims it's one of the best looking games of this gen.
it's 90GB, actually. at least it's what my ps4 was showing.
