An x ball is where the middle runs further away from the setter than the outside pin attacker. In this case I was going to run a 31 (shoot set) and Matt was going to run a 52 which is right beside the setter. These work well when the other side is expecting a middle attack, both blockers go up with the middle and the left side comes flying in behind the middle and plants it.
