    It matters because VSP actually fails to track the S&P500. If you compare the 5 yr return of VSP to the 5yr return of the S&P500, you'll see that VSP underperforms consistently by close to 2% per year, which is significant

    I sold my VFV shares a while back, did Norbert’s Gambit and bought VOO in my RRSP account to save on the US withholding tax. Thoughts, Chris?

    • @WealthAwesome
      @WealthAwesome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good strategy, if you had a large amount to invest and are planning to hold for a long time, it's worth the hassle, and you will sidestep the 15% US dividend witholding tax, plus reduce the FX fees. It's more advanced, and I don't recommend for beginner investors, but I do like Norbert's Gambit overall.

      I need to look up Nobert's Gambit- I don't know what you're talking about. But your comment seems promissing. I am a US-Canadian, living and earning in Candaa in CAD. But I love VOO and still hold it in my US accounts. I am debating just always taking a portion of my pay-cheque, converting it from CAD to USD, and buying and investing in the US. VS holding something like VFV in my canadian RRSP. I also don't know what the US withholding tax is. You get taxed by the US for holding VFV? but not VOO? I also learned as a canadian-american, I should not have a TFSA because those gains are taxed by the US. But RRSP are okay. So I just want some kind of vehicle to invest in- set it and forget it. But I think if I do the leg- work in the beginning of figuring out the "BEST" way. It will save me headache in the future. I am 22.

    Hi great content. Is rebalancing necessary?
    And just investing in VEQT enough ? Thank you

    • @WealthAwesome
      @WealthAwesome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rebalancing is necessary if you combine this with another ETF. Yes just VEQT is enough, if it matches your risk tolerance levels and investor needs, but it is only equities so it could be quite volatile.

    As a Canadian, I want to know my options on what apps/trading platform/brokerage I can use to buy fractional shares of DowJones. Dow Jones is upwards of $33,000 so I can not afford to buy the whole. Also, Wealth Simple would not let me buy Dow Jones at all.
    Also, I want to trade intraday so I am looking to invest in index and not EFTs. Indices are more volatile, which is what I'm looking for.

    • @WealthAwesome
      @WealthAwesome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think any brokerage allows fractional share purchase of an entire Index - it is generally just stocks in a company.

      possibly look for online brokers that you can do yourself like quest fade or wealthsimple trade. these are way lower fees about 0.5% compared to 2% with banks

    What are your thoughts on 50% veqt and 30% vfv and 20% vee I understand there’s overlap.

    • @WealthAwesome
      @WealthAwesome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would replace VEQT with something else in that scenario. You're paying a higher MER for the rebalancing of VEQT, but not getting the benefit of it in your portfolio because you are combining it.

    • @jessesangha5489
      @jessesangha5489 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, thank you. I understand. Maybe I can do 10% vee, 50% vfv,
      20% VIU, 20% VCN
      I don’t want to rebalance though. Just keep buying and holding and no rebalance what do you think ?

    Can i buy USA spy 500 with my TFSA ? Is there any extra tax that i have to pay if do so ?

    • @WealthAwesome
      @WealthAwesome  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can buy this in your TFSA, your income is taxed already when you contribute to your TFSA, so there's no capital gains inside it

    Hey Chris, i'm currently 23 years old living in Canada with my account on Questrade. I wish to invest monthly in the S&P500 for the next few years (at least 10y). Not too sure which one to choose... Any help?

    Am very new to this. What kinds of ETF's should I invest in if i trying to invest in Questrade TFSA. Because i think US stocks will be taxed?

    • @WealthAwesome
      @WealthAwesome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there is a US dividend witholding tax, but it isn't too bad. If you don't want that at all, you can look at pure Canadian ETFs.

    Is scalping for two days with 50000 $ in one stock, for few more shares for the purpose of long-term investing with a TFSA account is going to cause problems with CRA ? I made my 831 shares to 950 with scalping in two days ... made each share cost around 30 $

    • @WealthAwesome
      @WealthAwesome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on if you're using it to create business income. If the purpose is long-term investing as a personal investor you should be able to argue your case if the CRA does give you a hard time.

      Thanks, glad you liked it, and thanks for summarizing! I own both ETF and stocks, and think there's a way to fit both into everyone's portfolios. But ETFs are great for those who want to set it and forget their investments.
